Acts 10:38
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:

Prophets, Priests, and Kings were anointed before they assumed office that signified royal competence. Anointing was a means of investing someone with power, such as the anointment of King Solomon to signify divine sanctification and approval. Aaron was the first to be anointed for the priesthood, and the High Priest was often called the anointed Priest.

The prophet Elijah was anointed and received the command to anoint Elisha. The character of the anointment gave the King the privilege of becoming the Lord’s anointed, that signified he was to serve God and reign in God’s stead over the people. The right to anoint the King was executed by the Prophet, and then later in time, only the High Priest had the right to anoint the King.

The title “the Lord’s anointed” was later shortened to “anointed.” The Hebrew, in the Aramaic form uses the word “messiah.” The Greeks translated “messiah” into the Greek as “Christ.” Jesus was anointed as Prophet, Priest, and King to signify the fulfillment of the promised messiah. Jesus was also anointed by God with the holy spirit and with power (Acts 10:38). As believers we are anointed by God because of the seed of Christ that is born within us. “Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God” (2 Corinthians 1:21).

In Acts 2 - At Pentecost, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was the anointing of Believers to have power to witness and testify of Jesus Christ- The Anointed One.

The Holy Spirit is The Anointing.

Jesus Christ was anointed because the Holy Spirit was in Him without measure empowering Him to do the Father’s Will - fulfill all the Law and the Prophets and ransom with blood and body the souls of man.

As Believers, we need the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be a witness of Jesus Christ in the Earth, understand the scriptures of God’s Word - the Holy Bible and be a doer of God’s Word - pleasing in His sight. Amen.(y)

I'm not posting about believers being anointed. I'm posting about Jesus being anointed.

As for being Catholic, you and all should understand there are brethren in all the denominations, that is in the great whore and her daughters. Our Father will call them out at His time. It also, is written in the Book

So the anointed are also the chosen few of God? Who God chose before they were even conceived in the womb?

Well evidently, @Peterlag is only wanting to discuss Jesus’ anointing.....not the anointing that is available for every Believer....:love:(y)

Oh dear @Peterlag, I know you just wanted to focus on Jesus’ anointing but, His anointing does trickle down to us......it is the Holy Spirit that is The Anointing.

It is written in the OT that Jesus-Yeshua is our Father-s Elect. We are now members of His Body. Think on that, and perhaps everything will be clear.

My personal way in the forum is regarding it as a vis-a-vis dialogue and not some kind of referencing tool. You have something you understand share it in you own words for any reference is no better than something etched in stone, no dialogue possible.

I'm not posting about believers being anointed. I'm posting about Jesus being anointed.
He was anointed by the father the same as any believer, prophet, apostle. Abel the first mentioned martyr who was full of the Spirit of Christ. Cain plowed him under to fulfill the pagan foundation. "Out of sight out of mind" .Cain did not believe in a God not seen and became a marked man (666)

What applies to Jesus applies to us. Yet he knew no sin. He did the will of the father working with the father perfectly .He did not do the will of his own flesh . . which he said profits for zero.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Not of the corrupted powerless flesh of any man.

We are warned of those who claim they have the gift of anointing. That's our Father in heavens gift as Lord and Master .

Even Jesus would not stand in that holy unseen place of the fathers hidden glory. We learn from the father just as Jesus our example.

1 John2: 26-27 These things have I written unto you concerning them (antichrists other teaching authroity) that seduce you.But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (our father not seen)

John 6: 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
