I have been away for a while and so far I have seen page 55 & would like to refer to the erroneous assumption that the Word in Jn 1:1 and some of the subsequent verses supposedly prove that Jesus is God.
Well, let me say first, that neither Jesus nor the NT writers said anything new nor contrary. As the matter of fact, they kept pointing to the prophets like Jesus did explaining what to be Son of God really means:
Joh 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods (θεός theos)?
Joh 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Joh 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
Likewise, John didn't speak about the Word out of the blue (Jesus is never referred to as the "Word" but we are told that God sent His Word to the Jews through Jesus) but clearly referred to the prophets:
1. The Word:
Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
2. The creation:
Psa 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Psa 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.
3. The genesis of Jesus:
2Sa 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
2Sa 7:13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
2Sa 7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son....
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
Luk 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Therefore, the NT writers record fulfillment of the prophecies. They state that God has done it and they are witnesses.
Further, the new theology had to be developed since the pagan styled Trinity God had been forced upon Christianity.
Therefore, some verses have been miss-translated to account for the new theology.
As the matter of fact, Catholics admit that Jerome (was committed to make new translation after the Trinity God theology had to be adopted) made some mistakes like in Jn 1:1.
So, dear Brothers in Christ. Please be mindful when you reject hundreds of fool proof verses stating that the Father is the only "one" - "true" God for few clearly contradicting Trini-tarian or duo-tarian ones.
Be aware of the consequences:
Joh 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Joh 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Joh 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Joh 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
So now you know what hearing Jesus' words and rejecting them really means.
God bless
