"Somewhere there's somebody
Who looks just like you do
Acts just like you do
Feels the same way
Somewhere there's a person
In a faraway place
With a different name
And a face that looks like you"

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have yourself for a roommate? What if a mad scientist cloned you, and then the two of you lived in the same house? Would you go stark raving mad? Would you be your best friend?

Sometimes two people I know will argue back and forth, and both of them will express disgusted sentiments of "UGH, I just cannot STAND that person!" And I'm thinking, "That's because you are way too much alike."

Then there are people I wish we could clone a hundred times. Whenever two or more of them are in the same place things get done, they have good conversations and spirits and attitudes are generally upbeat. If they lived in a whole CITY of people just like themselves it would be a great city to be in.

So what do you think it would be like to live with yourself? Do you think you would both try to hog the ice cream? Would you both argue a lot? Would the dog or cat be really confused? What do you think would happen if you came to live with you?

IMPORTANT: We all have blind spots where ourselves are concerned, so I would like if we could comment on each other's ideas too. What do you think it would be like for me if I had to live with another me?

"Do you think about who it might be?
Do you wonder where you are?
In a distant foreign country
Riding 'round in another car
All your thoughts are in another head
Your dreams are sleeping in another bed"

- Edie Brickell

I'll go first, because this thread is still waiting for approval, so nobody else can go before me. Bwahaha!

So if I had to live with a clone of me... hmm...

I would be living with a guy who spent a lot of time putzing around with a laptop. If I wanted to talk to him I'd have to get his attention and then wait until he cleared whatever he was fiddling with at the time before I started talking. And he would always be making wry comments about the world around us, stuff that might or might not be funny.

He'd be pretty self-sustaining and self-sufficient. If he needed help he probably wouldn't ask until it was glaringly apparent he couldn't handle something on his own. Of course we would both have the same skill set, so if it was something he didn't know anything about I couldn't help him... but sometimes all one needs is another set of hands.

We might have a conflict about chores like mowing the yard. I mow it because Grandma can't, but he and I would both be well aware that each other can mow the yard, and both of us would want to get out of the task.

Neither of us would be very intrusive. As long as he had his room and I had mine, we'd both be fairly self contained. I might not even know he was there for days at a time. And he probably wouldn't even care if I was here or not. :p

Yeah, I think I'd like living with another me. It would probably be peaceful.

Come to think of it... the more I contemplate the prospect, the more appealing it seems.

He would be willing to talk stuff out. If we disagreed on something - oh yeah, people who are just alike can still disagree on things - he would be willing to talk about his side until I was able to see it his way, and he'd listen and ask questions until he could see it my way... or at least until we were able to both agree that we can't agree on a given topic.

But if we had a cat, there might be a fight over who the cat sleeps with. I love to have a cat purring beside me. Better get two cats.

Hmm, this is a very interesting thread.

I think right now, I would benefit from living with another me, since I don’t have any real life friends and any real life friends I do have, live too far away.

We might argue a bit, but can talk things out. It would be nice to have someone to watch a movie/anime with, and then discuss about it afterwards, what we liked and hated about the show.

I actually joke at work “They need to hire more people like me”, but what I mean is that I’m the only one sacking groceries at my job, and when it gets too busy, well...that’s when I wish I had 8 arms/copies of myself, LOL XD

I’m lucky that my mom is willing to watch some anime with me, but I forget to ask to watch stuff with her. I honestly need someone play Mario Kart with me, LOOOOOL XD, though if my clone wins, they would probably dance and go: “F**k yeah, I won!” (Yes I’m immature and can be quite the potty mouth, I pray to repent and try to keep myself in line, but I get so hyper focused on stuff, like games, it gets me emotional and I sometimes outburst in happiness/being mad, yep definitely haven’t fully grown up yet) and that might hurt my feelings/get me mad.

I’m actually interested to see what others will say, I think differently from most people due to my disability, so it would be cool to hear other responses because I honestly don’t hear people asking these kind of questions, thought it was only me, lol.

Thanks for making the thread! ^_^

it wouldn't go well, roommate thing wouldn't work at all as I don't like sharing space with people.

Competition brings a whole different aspect... if your clone beats you, can you still say you won? If you make a bet with the other you, do you both win and lose at the same time?

And the most important question: Can your clone do the same Mario Kart victory dance you do, or would the clone have to find her own? Or would your clone insist YOU find a different victory dance?

I think I'd get along well with another me, at least until one of us got into one of our hyper focused moods and decided that it's suddenly imperative to get this done or figured out ASAP (sometimes just because everything in the universe would line up so nice if we could get this in place like yesterday (at least until something goes wrong)). Truthfully having a second me around would probably be beneficial in so many ways just because I'm usually to hard on my self self and a clone self would mean that one self was a lot more likely to extend the general kindness we extend to others back to our other self. Also the accountability of having an other around, doesn't always mean that I'd get the undesireable chores done as often or as quickly but is definitely a help when there's someone to be accountable to for chores, and food, and how I'm spending my time etc.

And of course a clone me would enjoy and want to play all the games I own with me so that's a bonus as well as being a second furniture mover for the times I need that. The not so bonus is I only have one personal computer so I'd probably have to get clone me a computer as well. Other down side would be that having someone who agreed with all of my less Christian thoughts and opinions would probably reinforce those as well.

Actually this is starting to sound like a great plot for a sci-fi story, people can get exact duplicate clones of themselves and all the unforseen problems that ensue from people trying to live with themselves. If done right there's a brilliant idea in there.

Too much effort, not enough benefit.

But if we did, we should probably make it a story about a world where you can clone anybody. Lovelorn guys try to get clones of the women they love but can't get... and probably the clones would choose to leave them. Parents try to get clones of the babies who died.

Eh, I don't think a story about people cloning themselves for company would work very well.

Hmm, that is interesting, cause clones are copies, but personality is something not guaranteed to be copied, something with like how Mewtwo is a copy of Mew, but thinks differently (I know why Mewtwo thinks differently, just something that popped into my head when I read this comment).

It would probably be us having our own dances, just guessing cause I’m honestly not sure, lol.

None of us are perfect...but we're all just trying to get through this thing called life...and the Bible talks about the finish line. We aren't perfect unless we make it to that line. So, how about we all start over?
Hi, Suzzy. Welcome to CC. We're all trying to find our way. Somehow, this place and these people have become my family. Yes, we argue and bicker sometimes...but we forgive too.

I hadn't done any truck stuff since idk 2016-17? i was still around till what end of 18? everything went real bad to start 19. first a fire costs me everything, insurance well does what insurance does "hardly pay anything" which lead to a heart attack where instead of letting me go in peace after losing everything some bonehead gets me pushed into a hospital. and well, its been 100% misery since.
