What is "the age to come?"

One interpretation is that "the present age" is the Levitical age, and "the age to come" is the age which follows. In other words, 70 AD is the transition point.

The age to come is when the Lord commences to reign on the earth with His saints. This comes at the conclusion of the beasts 42 month reign with the Antichrist, at which time the judgment shall sit and rule to take away the beasts dominion, while awarding the kingdom and dominion on the earth to the saints.

Daniel 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Bible scholars all agree that God works differently with different peoples and different times. The Greek word "aion" does not help because it doesn't set the times. But the "age to come" is almost universally the age in which our Lord Jesus starts His reign in an eternal Kingdom on earth. But, of course, some hotly dispute this. But whatever one thinks of the next age, here are some of the characteristics of it:

1. Gentile rule will be over. Christ will reign from Jerusalem (Zech.14:16)
2. Overcoming Christians will rule cities (lk.19:17-19)
3. The type of Government will be a Theocratic Monarchy
4. Enmity against God will not be over as long as men are in the flesh. So there will be a tendency to rebellion
5. To counter this, and to uphold the rights of the innocent, the rule will be "the rule of the rod of iron"
6. During this age, the Lord Jesus takes time to SUBDUE things on an earth as we know it now
7. The only time in scripture that the length of this age is given plainly is Revelation 20:4-6 - 1,000 years
8. Noah's Covenant will be in place since there is winter and summer - thus, expect the death penalty "among all flesh"
9. The age of grace is this age, and it will be over in the next. The "rod of iron" means unbending justice
10. In the next age Israel are restored to one nation, in their Land, with a New Covenant of Law
11. In the next age there will be no war. weapons will be reforged to make agricultural machines for the great harvests
12. All countries and all deserts will bloom except Edom
13. The harvests will be so big and so long that seed-time will overtake the harvest
14. After this 1,000 years, the Kingdom of God continues as normal. But two big changes are expected. (i) All men will be in resurrection bodies. The enmity against God will be over, even for those in the Lake of Fire (ii) Once Christ has subdued all things, the last one being death, God will RENEW the heavens and the earth. The Greek word in Isaiah 66 and Revelation 21 rendered "NEW" means "made pristine"

I try to follow scripture when judging things, and I judge that the earth goes through FOUR ages ...

1. Death reigned from Adam to Moses
2. Law reigned from Moses to Christ
3. Grace reigned from Christ's death till Christ's return
4. The reign of the rod of iron

... and then come the "AGES to come" (Eph.2:7)

Yeah. But they've got a problem. The word they render "Dispensation" is "Okonomia" in the Greek. It means "dispensation", but not in the sense of a time period. It means "household management" with the implication of a mother in the kitchen "dispensing" nourishment to her family. From this word we get "Economy". A Country pays taxes and the Government "dispenses" of that money. That's the "Economy" of a country.

The good thing is that however God has divided the times, it is not so important what is past. What we are in and what is the next immediate AGE (aion - Gk.) is very important. There are threats and promises attached to both for the Christian. For instance, if the foolish Virgin did not buy extra oil in the age of GRACE, but must buy in the AGE of the RULE OF THE ROD OF IRON, I think it's not going to be pleasant.

Look close at the Scripture you gave from Mark in your former post "world to come eternal life..." and compare it with "shall not perish,but have eternal life..." they are both speaking of the world to come.
