Meaning, was it the ultimate suffering that no other human would ever possibly compare to have experienced?

Isaiah 52:14
14As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

There was also an emotional and spiritual aspect to it. His disciples deserted Him at the end and He bore the sins of the entire world. Yeah I would say He took the ultimate suffering.

Most humans would not have been able to survive the suffering which Yeshua (Jesus) endured even before he reached Golgatha. The reason Yeshua could do so was because he was both the Son of G*d and the Son of Man. G*d turned the sky so dark that no one could see the hand in front of their face before he began to pour out judgement on Yeshua, the Messiah. Yeshua had remained silent through all the suffering which man had inflicted upon him before G*d's judgment. When G*d began to judge the Messiah for all of our sins, Yeshua screamed for the first time 'My G*d, My G*d! Why have you foresaken me!" When G*d was finished pouring out this judgement on the Messiah, Yeshua said 'tetalestai!' Grammatically, this phrase is written in the perfect passive indicative tense, signifying that an action has been completed in the past, yet the result is ongoing and in full effect. So much more about Tetalestai https://www.preceptaustin.org/tetelestai-paid_in_full

There is nothing that will ever compare! We could never endure any greater pain to show any greater love!

Why was God punishing himself?

Well surely humans will endure eternal suffering, surely by definition that suffering would be worse than what God endured?

Skinned alive tied up and thrown on a hot skillet might be up there.
Slow roasted over a fire too.
Those happened.

It's not just the pain. It's about receiving it without hating and blaming. To endure it and not want the abusers to suffer due punishment.

I asked about the pain specifically.

It is more than not wanting your abusers to suffer due punishment for harming you. The Messiah took all of the punishment for all of mankinds' wrongdoing upon himself before he died on the cross. That was no ordinary execution. This is why we can be saved by believing on Yeshua (Jesus) as our savior from sin and have eternal life. Yeshua (Jesus) took our place....took our judgment and we do not need to suffer in eternity if we accept his gift of salvation. He can give this gift because he took the judgment when he had done no wrong.

This is why Yeshua's suffering cannot be compared to a way in which we could die. We would never have the judgement of the wrongdoing of everyone poured out on us joined with whatever terrible method was used to kill us. G*d only poured out that judgment once on his own Son out of love for us.

So was the crucifixion necessary?

You mean God poured that punishment on HIMSELF, surely?

Crucifixion is indeed where we get the word excruciating from.

It's not pleasant.
Is there anything worse? I don't know and don't want to find out.

One thing that hasn't been discussed is the humiliation that a crucifixion type death entails.

Everyone was in your face when you are at your worst and accused of the worst crimes...then mocked and made more than marginalized... subhuman is more like it. Hung naked on a cross too just so people can judge your sex organs.

And considering that HE was the one who made this planet and people.

Yes, the crucifixion was necessary.

Yeshua (Jesus) did say, "I and the Father (G*d) are one."

Yeshua (Jesus) was the Son of G*d, the promised Messiah, sent to redeem humanity from their fallen state by taking the judgment for every sin that had or ever would be commited by a human being upon himself. Someone had to pay the price to satisfy the Justice of G*d because Justice is part of G*d just as much as Love is part of G*d. G*d the Son becoming a man was the only one who could be the sacrifice to do this for us.

Okay so you're not answering my question.
The answer to yior question is no. From a strictly human standpoint, Jesus didn't suffer more than others who have been tortured.

Nor was our Lord suffering his Fathers judgement and wrath. He was judged by sinners and suffered their wrath. They hated God,

this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. Jn.15:25

Worse things have been done, and done for years to people. I'm thankful Christ only had to endure what he did for the time it lasted rather than twice as long etc.

I am sorry, Journeyman. I am a human. I do believe Jesus did suffer more than others who have been tortured. I do believe the Lord was suffering his Father's judgement in our place. Yes, sinners did torture and execute the Messiah in an earthly manner. Yeshua (Jesus) was perfectly capable of coming down off that cross at any time if he had so chosen to do so and put a stop to what they were doing to him. However, he chose to stay in order to take the judgement for the sins of the all humanity so salvation would be a possibility.
