No it wouldn't be salvation by our doing. We are saved by grace through faith and this not of our own doing. It is the gift of God, not by works. So, our part is faith. And without faith, it is impossible to please God. Therefore, no faith, no salvation.
So the gift is probationary? Do we just have cease fire with God?

Actually we are saved by grace, Not by faith. Faith is the means in which God gives us his gift. it is also the work of God we have that faith.

Saying faith can be lost is the same as saying the work of God can fail after it was victorious. It also says God is not omniscient in the fact he gives a person eternal life because he did not know they would stay in faith. It also says God could not predestine us because he can not possibly know who will have faith and who will not

Calling EG a liar because he disagrees with you is going to far. Both myself and EG disagree on theological topics but we don't call each other liars..we may see each other as mistaken or in error and that's fine. We'r still both brothers in Christ as are you.

I think this says more about you than EG to be honest.
Then he demands we answer him, But he does not have to answer us.

I think that proves even more..

Is this Lordship salvation?
You know, I don't get caught up in those made up titles. I'm simply demonstrating that the free gift of salvation is dependent upon our having faith from beginning to end. Otherwise, there would be no purpose for all of the warnings in scripture to not live according to the sinful nature. Nor would there be any reason for the warnings in the letters to the seven churches.

Salvation does not come by a one-time confession, but is maintained through on-going faith. Those who go back into the world and willfully live according to the sinful nature are likened unto those 5 virgins whose lamps have gone out and who have no extra oil. Those in that state are no longer watching and anticipating the Lord's appearing to gather us. Regarding this, Jesus gave His disciples and all believers are warning, especially those believers who would be alive when He comes to gather His church:

"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

Carousing, drunkenness and the cares of this life, would be indicative of living according to the sinful nature. 'That day' is referring to the 'the Day of the Lord,' the time of God's wrath, which is going to come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth, which will close like a trap on those who are living according to the sinful nature.

What the post is referring to is being given the gift of eternal life would be a temporary or conditional deal if we could somehow lose it or have it taken back .
In that case, it would not be temporary. And regarding losing it or having it taken back, consider the following:

==============================================================

Because of this, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlements, a debtor was brought to him owing ten thousand talents.f 25Since the man was unable to pay, the master ordered that he be sold to pay his debt, along with his wife and children and everything he owned.

26Then the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Have patience with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’

27His master had compassion on him, forgave his debt, and released him.

28But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.g He grabbed him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me!’

29So his fellow servant fell down and begged him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you back.’

30But he refused. Instead, he went and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay his debt.

31When his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed, and they went and recounted all of this to their master.

32Then the master summoned him and declared, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave all your debt because you begged me. 33Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had on you?’ 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should repay all that he owed.

35That is how My heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”

===========================================================================

The King in the parable above, is representing the Lord and the servant is representing the believer. Likewise, the debt represents the believers sins. Notice that in v.27 the King/God forgave the servant/believer his entire debt. However, when that servant/believer failed to forgive his fellow servant/believer, the King/God reinstated his debt. Then Jesus says, this is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.

So, debt forgiven and debt reinstated.

I am a proponent of once saved always saved, if faith is maintained. However, I am not a proponent of 'once saved always saved' no matter how one lives.

Then it is not free my brother, We pay for it by in our own power continuing in spite off all the issues which want to destroy our faith using our power to maintain that faith.

No faith, no salvation!

=======================================================

If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

===========================================================

We stand in faith. Just as Israel (the original branches) were broken off, if we Gentile branches have no faith, then we can also be broken off for not having faith.

I believe people could lose salvation in the Ot and they will during the tribulation ( if they take the Mark of the beast ) Its only eternal security for the body of Christ . What happens is people choose the wrong passages for the wrong time ,to try disprove eternal Security . That and taking verses out of context to fit the belief .

People do not just lose faith in Christ. Many people claim to have faith. But their faith was not real. Thus as John said, when these people leave, they were never of us, if they were they never would have departed

Rom 11 is not about induvidual salvation. It is about two group of people. Isreal was cut off as a nation. Yet not all Israel was really cut off. There is always a remnant. God tells us gentiles not to be puffed up in pride as if we are special. Just as they (the nation) was cut off, so can we (as a group of people) be cut off.

salvation, i.e. God's rescue which delivers believers out of destruction and into His safety. No eternal condemnation, which is dependent upon having faith. This goes along with when the Lord said, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

If a believer has stopped having faith and goes back to willfully living according to the sinful nature, then they are no longer taking up their crosses and following the Lord. They are no longer bearing fruit. They are not longer being transformed into the image of the Lord. Now, if someone turns that person back to the Lord or they return themselves return and repent, then their sins are forgiven and they have eternal life. But, if they remain in that state and never return to having faith, then they will be condemned, along with the rest of unbelievers.

The nation was broken off not individuals . Thats the whole point . God decides the GENTILES when they will be cut off . Then the focus is back to Israel again .
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to ISRAEL , until the fulness of the GENTILES come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Not ' earn ' but there is no sealing of the Holy Spirit or the circumcision made without hands in the OT . No regeneration, no ' seated in the heavenly places in Christ ' , No baptism into the Body of Christ . No one had Christ ' in them ' . No one was predestinated to the Adoption. No one was redeemed. They only had remission .
