The Gospel continues to be misunderstood

We have recently seen how some wish to promote the idea of two Gospels, when there is only one Gospel (with various designations) or Good News. We have also seen how some desire to confuse justification with sanctification and expect the Gospel to include both. And then we have the traditional ideas that salvation is by grace through faith + something (either good works, or sacraments, or the perseverance of the saints), when that is not included in the Gospel.

But none of this would happen if people simply went to the Bible and searched the meaning of the Gospel. The key passage is 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 followed by Acts 2:22-40.

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

As we can see, both Peter and Paul presented the Gospel as the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Peter included in the Gospel message God's command to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. He further included Christ's command to be baptized immediately after believing the Good News. And Paul said that we are saved by the Gospel. Which means that we are saved by believing that Jesus of Nazareth -- who is God -- shed His blood for our sins, and offered Himself as the Lamb of God for our redemption.

When a person believes this and truly repents (turning away from all sins and idols), God justifies that sinner by His grace, and imputes the righteousness of Christ to that person.

Christians the world over remember how Christ was crucified as the Passover Lamb on Calvary on the 14th of Nisan, AD 30 on Good Friday. He was crucified on a Wednesday, but Good Friday has become the day of remembering the death of Christ, and Easter Sunday has become the day of remembering His resurrection. This is the heart of the Gospel.

The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

1Co 15:12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
1Co 15:13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
1Co 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.

The resurrection is our hope for it is eternal life to have eternal life like the man Christ Jesus which He has to die and be buried before He can resurrect.

Acts 2.38 is not a plan of salvation for today .. It was what Israel had to do because they crucified Their messiah. Nothing in Acts 2 is aimed at anyone but Israel and proselytes, Their children and all those Jews afar off ect ( Jews )( Acts 2 .11 ,19 )

Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:

Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

The Gentiles received the same message as what Peter preached.

Christian, you are correct.

Jesus said repeatedly that in order to be saved you must believe in Him. He made it quite simple.

When people give extravagant gifts people often wonder "what's the catch?" finding it hard to believe that they've been given an inheritance worth more than silver and gold by simply accessing the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

They want more, they desperately want more, and they'll turn over every rock to find an explanation.

The answer for why the gospel exists is love, plain and simply.

John 3:16-17
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Romans 5:6-11
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Doesn’t qualifying love involve a lot of deeds and “ good works “ because that’s really how love is expressed he acted for us and now we’re meant to act for others

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

To keep the commandments should be an offensive thought to Christians if you think about them they are a fuidline for what love really is and real love will always operate within the commandments

when we say love sums it up it’s true but it doesn’t have any understanding of what love is to God

to keep the commandments is love for each other “ we kill other people “” lie and deceive other people “ “ cheat on our spouses and hurt them deeply “ the bad things people do to one another is what the commandments are all about it shouldn’t be a grievance for us to walk in good things it’s Gods gift for a believer in the gospel he sent forth

peace rather than spite and dispute , turning a cheek rather than firing an insult back , forgiving a sin against us rather than seeking revenge , helping a person in need when we can , rather than passing by and pretending we don’t see them

we should look at the term righteousness closely it’s not a holier than though word but means essentially doing the right things by Christ and his doctrine because we believe

we can say we’re already saved but we always have the truth before us

Everything Jesus taught after his baptism we shouldn’t reject because his resurrection means something more

Forgiveness of sins and therefore salvation comes through what Jesus did on the cross. We receive this forgiveness and salvation through faith.

When Philip preached Jesus to the the Ethiopian eunuch the prerequisite to getting baptized was believing in Jesus. The baptism itself isn't the act the forgives sins. Who forgives sins is Jesus.

Bizarre renderings of the book of Acts, which goes hand in hand with the refusal of Hebrews, have been represented on this site at various times.

Salvation through Christ, or 'the Gospel', is central to the book of Acts. The Greek verb for “preach the gospel” (euangelizo) occurs more in this book than in any other in the New Testament.

We know that Paul was sent to the Gentiles, but he also preached to the Jews. In fact, when he went somewhere to spread the gospel, he would first enter the synagogue and preach to the Jews. At Iconium they entered together into the Jewish synagogue and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed Acts 14:1 There were converts from the Gentiles to Judaism, so Paul's preaching converted both Jews and Gentiles, IN the synagogue.

The gospel is very simple, it should not be complicated with wordiness. The simple truth is that the gospel is God's plan for our salvation. If someone asks us what that plan is, we can simply say that we can't live forever with God unless we ask Christ to forgive us for our sins.

If someone wants further information, we can explain that God loves us very much and welcomes us in His family, God only asks that we want to be without sin (repent) and that we be a forgiving person, forgiving other people.

They certainly do not have to repeat the exact words "death, burial, and resurrection" nor will God shout at them.
