If JESUS had not of died on the cross could we still get eternally saved? Is there a scripture that tells us why It was not possible to be saved without JESUS death on the cross?GOD IS almighty and nothing Is Impossible for HIM.
If you understand what a "testament" is, then you'll have the answer to your question.
For example, we read:
Hebrews chapter 9
[
15] And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
[
16]
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
[
17]
For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
[
18] Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
[
19] For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
[
20] Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
[
21] Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
[
22] And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
A testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator lives.
For example, if someone was to write their last will and testament and bequeath everything that they owned to their children, then that testament wouldn't be able to be enforced, and their children wouldn't be able to receive their inheritance, until the time came that the testator died.
The same principle applies with Christ and us.
Jesus died, not only to pay the penalty for any sins which had been committed under the Old Testament, but also to initiate the New Testament in his blood (Matt. 26:28, Mark 14:24, Luke 22:20, I Cor. 11:25) so that we might be joint-heirs with him (Rom. 8:17), or share his eternal inheritance with him, at his second coming.
That's the basic gist of it.
