Is there something preventing one of the cherubim from going dark and becoming the beast? Does it strike anyone odd that Judaism doesn't acknowledge satan like we do?
Maybe. The Bible only records one episode of angelic rebellion. The one when Lucifer gathered 1/3 of all angels to join in his rebellion against God.
Why is this important? Judaism doesn't even understand the OT.
I'm asking at what point did lucifer become satan? It sure seems like somewhere around the end of the OT. Didn't someone say that satan was a cherub?

The tree of life is forbidden to men specifically so that he can't lift his hand up and take of the fruit and eat and live forever.

I saw free will mentioned in this post. Don't know what that has to do with anything, other than it's a pernicious false doctrine.

God was preventing a free pass back into Heaven ..He was also starting this test we are in.
Can satan deceive because he had the ability/free will as a cherub? Are there still good cherubim just doing their job, hiding the Tree of Life, without looking for worship?
The Bible doesn't specify when. But when Adam and the woman were created, Satan was there, tempting the woman. Obviously, he had already rebelled.
Also, there is a verse that tells us that angels watched and cheered when God created the universe. Sorry I can't remember where.
"End of the OT"? Seriously? The last book of the OT was written about 400 BC. Satan was IN the Garden deceiving the woman. That's found in the FIRST book of the Bible, Genesis.
You are looking in all the wrong places.
You need to focus on Jesus Christ, His work on the cross, and how to please God by our lives.
Jesus has been "feeding" people at least since Abel. Yes, Abel was the first known True Prophet of God. He couldn't have become a Prophet unless "fed" by Christ. What does this mean? It means that Abel's Heart had been lifted of the Curse that his mom and pops set into motion. Jesus has been lifting the Curse from the beginning, the cutting away of the Sinful Nature. How else could anyone be Holy, just as our Father of Faith was Holy? Ahhh . . . Abraham, the Grandpappy of Jesus! That should cause a person to think for a moment.

The Tree of Life in the Garden is a reflection of Christ on the Cross. Anything that can be eaten that grants Eternal Life . . . is Jesus. Be it the Fruit on the Tree of Life, Bread, Flesh of Christ, Wine, Blood of Christ . . . all of these things are Christ. That Amazing Tree in the Garden is there . . . yet making us wait for His pre-Planned death by which He grants Eternal Life to the masses, beginning on the DOP.
