The thing I think we need to understand is, however "natural" it may feel, it never is actually natural. Beause God never made it that way, or intended it. So it's actually completely unnatural. The reason it may feel so "natural" is because Satan is good at what he does. Lying. Also deceiving. My advice is not to seek advice from man, but God. Draw near to him as much as you can. Know His Majesty, learn the absolute power and awe of his presence. Seek God in diligent prayer, ask him for divine insight into the problem and ways to combat it, and defeat it. Be persistent in bringing this forward to God. Always. Also, Get in the word, digest it as though food. And in time if you do this correctly, and most of all consistently. The Devil willflee as you resist him by the sheer grace and strength of The Almighty.

The enemies fiery arrows cannot hurt you if you are suited up with the full armour of God. I'd advise doing some studying on that also.

Father, I am thankful I can come before you so freely and lift up to you one of your own who is struggling. Lord I only know very little about her problems Lord, but you know them all, and love her still. I thank you that we do not serve a God who knows not our pitfalls and areas of difficulty, but you lived among men as a man - not considering yourself as God as something to be esteemed. So I pray Lord that as she seeks you in this difficulty in her life Lord that you would not hide your face. And as she pleads for your counsel, you would not cover your ear. I approach the throne of grace confidently seeking mercy on behalf of her weaknesses, and that through them you would make her strong. I find it very scarey that each Christian has their own personal opinion on this matter. I can honestly see everybobys point of view and I respect that. I feel that maybe the answer to this is to ask God to change me, to take away any desires I have for women. I have already done that, although it is very hard because my feelings feel completely natural to me, as natural as someone saying they feel tired or happy etc.

These things almost ALWAYS take a great deal of time. Rarely is the desire just immediately taken away from you. Just know that even if you still have urges and desires today, things will change if you remain in faith. You are loved <3

At the end of the day it comes down to hatred. many people in this thread hate homosexuals and homosexuality. They've externalised that their God also hates homosexuality.

You can choose tow paths.

1. One is that of hatred. Hate Homosexuals and then hate yourself. suppress your feelings, keep telling yourself you are wrong and bad.

2. Choose the path of Love and self acceptance. Try to be the best Gay Christian you can be. Love yourself, love your neighbours and enemies as yourself and love God.

Life is too short to give in to some narrow minded American-Literalist Fundie Gay Hate interpretation of God.

If you choose a life of suppression and self hatred, it's a very dark path.

How much of these three traits do you [The Christian Community] feel towards the woman who started this topic? I've seen people, on this thread, stop just short of calling ilikecolors an evil person. I'm sick of this. If you feel no sympathy and compassion for someone, how can you possibly understand them as a human being, another Creation of God? What gives you the right to persecute her, when she's the one going through this, not you. In the end, I have learned that so long as Christians value themselves more than they value others, we will never be able to overcome our differences, and will eternally be in the center of several wars to come. Ever heard of The Crusades? Well, the attitude in The Crusades is the same you're giving to this woman. This breeds hatred, anger, and remorse. Why are you so hell-bent on making this woman feel so bad about herself, she has to give in to peer pressure and repent to God in the hopes of giving her what is nothing short of lobotomy, just so you can feel good about yourself at the end of the day, and think, "Another evil person saved," when all you've done is cause someone to go through something that has caused them more pain than you could possibly know?

Not necessarily. I wholeheartedly agree to not go to any church which believes that what colours is doing is at all wrong or sinful, however I can't pretend there aren't churches which are completely and 100% open about this issue. There's churches in Montreal which some of my friends attend, no one at these churches thinks gay people are doing anything wrong for a second.

Yeah, it was an error on my part. I said she shouldn't go to ANY church because MOST churches agree with the bible's view on homosexuality. Just because most churches view homosexuality as a sin doesn't mean you should not go to any church at all. She could still try to find the few churches that don't agree with the bible on this subject (which apparently there are based on your quote)

I think I allowed my views against religion to interfere with giving ilikecolours advice for her own happiness. There are appropriate situations to share my views but I don't think this is one of them.

You come out with how we should be careful how we treat the gay issue and make sure we are godly in our dealings with it, and then out of the same mouth that you worship God with, you advocate hunting a man down and putting him on trial for something that you obviously do not understand to begin with. I have not been gay, but I have been a drug addict. I went to a different city, with the intent that God would "deliver me" from my addiction. I didn't realize that God had a much better plan for my life. Instead of "taking it away from me," he allowed me to indulge in it, but instead worked on my RELATIONSHIP with Him. He and I grew really tight through a lot of circumstances and my own seeking as well. He taught me how to tell the truth with others and especially with myself. He taught me self-respect. He taught me to do what's right even when it's hard. Then, YEARS later He finally said, "Ok, now about these drugs..."

In retrospect, I could never have gotten clean without all those other lessons coming first. So to say that a gay person is headed straight for hell is not always true. God works in His time, and even though it doesn't make sense to us, when the time is right He will convict each person to change according to His will, on His time. So don't look at a person who STRUGGLES with homosexuality and condemn them. I would say that since she is sincerely STRUGGLING with it, she's on the right path! Pray for God's will to be done in her life. He will take it from there. Bottom line is that her life and her choices are between her and God. She's just blessed us with a little chance to be a part of the change He will do in her life. And no matter how the change happens, what course it takes, or what timeline it happens on, we can be sure that if she is willing, He will work some mighty miracles! Amen!

As someone who was gay and is now straight I believe i can safely say that homosexuality truly is one of the worst sins out there. Mainly because it allows a pathway for people to keep their insecurities and low self-esteem. I wont go into detail as ive already messaged this dear girl, but ive noticed two things on this subject that need to be addressed. 1. Is people coming against homosexuality full force and judging everthing and everyone involved in it and 2. is people who accept gays and love them too much to address their issues but tell them to ignore it.

I believe in a balance of both of these views. The truth is homosexuality is a sin but it is not a permanent one if you trust in Jesus. Jesus healed me and he can heal any homosexual therefore the first group of people are right in addressing it as a sin but they are wrong to judge everyone involved in it. Homosexuals are victims and are to be loved and supported but not to the extent that we forget about their repentance.

The best thing to do is to help homosexuals in their journey with God by supporting them in it loving them and praying for them but reminding them when they fall that it is indeed a sin and to not fall for the lies of the flesh. And ultimately i think this is the best way of dealing with any sin not just homosexuality.

Saying your experience as a drug addict is akin to being a homosexual, is not only wrong but offensive as well. People are born that way, they can't help it, it's nothing like a drug addiction. That and drugs have harmful effects on the body and mind, homosexuality does nothing of the sort.

You can resist the way you feel and desire, but the feelings and desires will still happen. Whether or not you actually are homosexual I know not, but I care not, you're the same person to me either way. You could be bisexual or never really gay at all, just possibilities I know nothing for sure. But please realize that trying to convert gay people into heterosexuality can cause harmful psychological damage... Saying homosexuals need to chance is a vicious cycle. They try to change and they can't do it, so they think they're evil or weak or there's something wrong with them, people keep telling to chance and they can't, and so on and so on, they feel more miserable and broken. It's sad.

Laylie: It is a sad thing when Gods power is rejected on the basis of his own creation (science). My God is All-Powerful and able to do whatever he wills to do. My God, The only God, has healed me and has indeed healed many many others successfully. It is sad however when people return to their sin because they didnt understand that attraction would never truly go away. But please never tell me who or what I am for its only me and Jesus that knows that so you cant say im not straight, i KNOW i am. And i know from experience that homosexuality caused me far more psychological damage than my healed state now.
