Is there any case to speculate as to who, exactly, was casting out devils in the name of Jesus, who wasn't one of the 12 Disciples?

Mark 9:35-41
35And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. 36And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, 37Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
38And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. 39But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. 40For he that is not against us is on our part. 41For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Nope. It is not answered. We only know this.

For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me,

Apparently even those who were not True Followers of Christ had this ability.

Matthew 7:22 NLT - "On judgment day many will say to me, 'Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name."

His response to these people of whom He had not relieved of the Sinful Nature?

Matthew 7:23 NLT - "But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws."

Huh. Interesting. So it's possible to cast demons out and still not be known by Jesus.

Keyword is "knew." He will say that to those He never knew. How would you say Jesus knows us?

It is important to keep in mind these who cast out demons in His name were said of by our Lord to allow them to do so for no man after doing such a thing in His name can speak ill of Him

So they were not of the followers but there was the seed in that part of thefield yet to flourish.

You got it. To be known by Christ is to receive His Circumcision. This is absolutely clear:

Colossians 2:11, 13, 15 NLT - "When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. ... 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. ... 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

When Christ performs His Spiritual Circumcision, this is the moment that a person is "set apart." But from what? The Law. Therefore, True Christians are set apart from the Law, which is why Jesus told these people, "Get away from me, you Lawbreakers!"

Those "Lawbreakers" had not been set apart from the Law. Thus, when the broke the Law, they were [still] considered Lawbreakers. But for those who have become a Nazarene like Christ (which means to be set apart), these have been "Known" by Christ. Because of this setting apart, that "Known" person cannot break laws (according to the Spirit) because they have been saved from all worldly laws. Paul make this clear:

Romans 4:14-15 NLT - "If God's promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless. 15 For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)"

This [is] the Work of Christ . . . to set His Chosen Ones apart from all worldly Laws.

Jesus never knew them, but I know who they are .
"in the name of lord, let us start a war."
"in the name of lord,I don't care unbelievers"
"in the name of lord, they are Pagan."

I would say that these people were just like me. I spent the first 49 years of my life Truly believing that I was a saved Christian. I was wrong. I did not understand what the Bible was about . . . and it revolves around Spiritual Circumsion. My Heart had yet to be Purified by Christ, which explains why I never improved after my youthful baptism. Before I was baptized, I knew little about sin . . . but as I became older, I learned all about sex and alcohol . . . which led me to strip-clubs, etc. I was absolutely out of control, and that is NOT a description of a Child of God. But . . . I thought I was Eternally saved. Instead, I was a disobedient jerk.

Hello Runningman,

Well, I know that the seven sons of Sceva were going around and casting out demons. But I Don't know if is the same group mentioned above though.

"Now there were some itinerant Jewish exorcists who tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those with evil spirits. They would say, “I bind you by Jesus, whom Paul proclaims.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.

Eventually, one of the evil spirits answered them, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?” Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked and wounded."

Paul...
Acts 16:18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Well Jesus never knew these people. I can post videos now of people who pretend to cast out devils but do not know God. With man made doctrine and so many errors.

They may claim to perform miracles, that doesn't mean it is so. They are already proven to be wrong about other things.

This verse does not suggest they were truthful. It only implies He never knew those who were pointing to their actions to justify themselves before Him and claiming to perform miracles.

I do not believe they could do what what they claimed. Just as there are those today who make the claim but are far from God and push a false "gospel".

And then the girls owners were upset with Paul because the woman could no longer make money for them by fortunetelling.

The text does not indicate that the person casting out demons was a Christian. The Church did not even come into being yet.

Matthew 7:22-23
Easy-to-Read Version
22 On that last Day many will call me Lord. They will say, ‘Lord, Lord, by the power of your name we spoke for God. And by your name we forced out demons and did many miracles.’ 23 Then I will tell those people clearly, ‘Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.’

This shows that even those who are not believers can do things in Jesus name of authority.
