Yep Narrow is the gate.

As Paul said in Gal 2 and 3. That salvation by grace through faith was showed through the abrahamic promise. and that it would be given to all people of all nations through the seed that is in christ. And we would be saved as abraham was. Abraham believed and it was accounted to him as righteousness (justified)
Yes, Abraham believed he would become the father of many nations because God said it. However, did you know that Abraham's obedience to the covenant of circumcision played a part in the fulfillment of God's promise? The conception of Isaac came about after Abrahams obedience concerning circumcision. See Acts 7:8, Gen. 17:10-14, Gen. 17:21-24. This parallels the NT spiritual rebirth. Peter stated the truth concerning Jesus' death, burial and resurrection and commanded the listeners to repent, be baptized everyone in the name of the Lord Jesus and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Afterward expressing that the stated PROMISE was relevant to all that the Lord God shall call.

You missed the whole point

In you shall all the nations be blessed

In Christ.

No water immersion involved

I think we have an entirely different message when we try use Acts 2.38 for today.
I don't see it.

You may notice that Acts begins where Luke ends. No wonder since Luke and Acts have the same author. They are actually two parts of the same book.

One of Jesus' final commands in Luke is to start in Jerusalem with the message of repentance and remission of sins then move to all [Gentile] nations.

Luke 21:45-47
45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

And this is exactly what happened. There is no transition or entirely different message for Jews and Gentiles.

It was the same gospel of Abraham, in you (your seed) shall all the nations be blessed,

abraham believed, trust god, and God credit him as righteous, inspite of his sin, justification has always been of faith,

we are saved with that same faith, we just know the seeds name, his name was Jesus, his title was Christ (messiah) and his mission was the cross, cursed is the one who hangs on a tree

Ok, they went EVERYWHERE preaching ,but not to EVERYONE . These are the facts .
Acts 11 .( Many years after Acts 2 still )

19¶Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the JEWS ONLY.

And you said this //There is no transition or entirely different message for Jews and Gentiles//

//entirely different message // ??
Did you mean like preaching Islam or something? What a strange thing to say . Were talking about baptism here .
Even in Acts 8 its not an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT message . When the Holy Spirit is given only after the laying on of hands. What your doing is generalising . Words like ' remission, baptism, sins are being used and the order seems to not matter . So long as in some fashion you see those terms motioned?

Can God not require something different from certain People at different times ? Like laying on of hands ,for a reason ? Or asking Israel to repent of crucifying a messiah and to be baptised in order to recieve the Holy Spirit ? Why would you have a problem with later the gentiles only had to believe the Gospel in order to recieve the Holy Spirit. And the jews later ? Not an entirely different message, but a different prerequisite at that time . Just as a prerequisite to Noah was " build an Ark .

Your words in post #349 "I think we have an entirely different message when we try use Acts 2.38 for today."

I agree it is a strange thing to say. I showed you how the message to the Jews and Gentiles is not different.

Acts 8:37-38 teaches believing in the gospel of Christ and getting water baptized to a gentile Ethiopian eunuch. Also, we already went over that eunuchs cannot be Jewish proselytes under the law of Moses.

Acts 8:37-38
37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Deuteronomy 23:1
1He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Leviticus 21:20
20Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

I agree. My point was obedience is key in seeing God's plan fulfilled. Both in the Old and New Testaments.
Abraham was saved before obedience

he saved saved by grace through faith. NOt works

he worked and sin after salvation, but Hs salvation was never based on works

he who believes is not condemned

one day I pray you hear those words

Yes ,but its not required to be water baptized or having hands laid on, to recieve the Holy Spirit ,other than where it happened in scripture. Read Eph 1.13 . Thats how it happens today .

Heres my point . In Acts there times when the Holy Spirit is recieved only by the Laying on of hands ( Acts 8) and after water baptism ( Acts 2 ,ect ) why would anyone think this is how a person receives the Holy Spirit today ?
Two responses to this . Catholics/ cults and others say ,yes this is how a person receives the Holy Spirit today ( Acts 2 .38 ) Others say " no ,that's not what Acts 2 .38 is saying. Both do not consider that ,there is no reason to apply those verses today. Especially in light of Eph 1.13 ,which is for today.

why would you take ANY conversion account in Acts and assume that's how a person is saved today ?

Matthew 28
Jesus Talks to His Followers
16 The eleven followers went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus told them to go. 17 On the mountain the followers saw Jesus. They worshiped him. But some of the followers did not believe that it was really Jesus. 18 So he came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth is given to me. 19 So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.”

Is a command. Acts is simply relaying a historical account. The Didache is also a command. A.T. Robertson dates the Didache to 40 AD.

Doing something in the name of is simply expressing by whose authority it is done.

My point was both Jews and Gentiles were commanded to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus AFTER receiving the Holy Ghost. Receiving the Holy Ghost did not exclude the need for obedience to the command to be water baptized in Jesus' name. It was Jesus who said he who believes and IS BAPTIZED shall be saved. (Mark 16:16) Clearly Jesus reference is to water baptism since it is the only baptism that man can choose to accept or reject. God alone is the giver of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-18, 10:44-48, 19:1-6, 22:16 Paul, 8:35-40 Eunuch, 16:28-33 Jailer/family, 16:14-15 Lydia/family, 18:8 Crispus/Corinthian believers )
Matthew 28 Adn the Didache are commands. Acts 28 speaks of by whose authority it is done.

The apostles did not repeat the command Jesus gave in Matthew 28:19 they obeyed it. Being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Jesus' command. All recorded water baptisms include the usage of the name that is above all names; Jesus. The only name given whereby all must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Peter stated that THROUGH Jesus' name all who believe in him shall receive remission of sin. (Acts 10:43) And commanded the Gentiles to be baptized in that very name; Jesus. (Acts 10:48) This lines up perfectly with Acts 2:38. Baptism in Jesus' name brings about the remission of one's personal sin.

friend you really don't understand the Jewish culture. The idioms refers only by whom's authority, not the baptismal formula.

Acts 2:38
Peter said to them, “Change your hearts and lives and be baptized, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Then God will forgive your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 4:12
Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!”

Acts 4:18
So the Jewish leaders called Peter and John in again. They told the apostles not to say anything or to teach anything in the name of Jesus.

Acts 5:40
They called the apostles in again. They beat them and told them not to speak anymore using the name of Jesus. Then they let them go free.

Acts 8:16
These people had been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, but the Holy Spirit had not yet come down on any of them. This is why Peter and John prayed.

Acts 9:10
There was a follower of Jesus in Damascus named Ananias. In a vision the Lord said to him, “Ananias!” Ananias answered, “Here I am, Lord.”

Acts 9:36
In the city of Joppa there was a follower of Jesus named Tabitha. Her Greek name, Dorcas, means “a deer.” She was always doing good things for people and giving money to those in need.

Acts 10:43
Everyone who believes in Jesus will have their sins forgiven through his name. All the prophets agree that this is true.”

Acts 10:48
So Peter told them to baptize Cornelius and his relatives and friends in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a few days.

Acts 16:1
Timothy Goes With Paul and Silas
Paul went to the city of Derbe and then to Lystra, where a follower of Jesus named Timothy lived. Timothy’s mother was a Jewish believer, but his father was a Greek.

Acts 19:5
When these followers heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 19:13-14
Some Jews also were traveling around forcing evil spirits out of people. The seven sons of Sceva, one of the leading priests, were doing this. These Jews tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus to make the evil spirits go out of people. They all said, “By the same Jesus that Paul talks about, I order you to come out!”

Acts 21:13
But he said, “Why are you crying and making me feel so sad? I am willing to be put in jail in Jerusalem. I am even ready to die for the name of the Lord Jesus!”

Acts 25:19
Their charges were all about their own religion and about a man named Jesus. Jesus died, but Paul said that he is still alive.

1 Corinthians 5:4
Come together in the name of our Lord Jesus. I will be with you in spirit, and you will have the power of our Lord Jesus with you.

1 Corinthians 6:11
In the past some of you were like that. But you were washed clean, you were made holy, and you were made right with God in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
