i think its definielty easier to go with the flow though, even if the flow is taking you far away from where you really want to go. Though sometimes the flow is just not happening.
I wonder if its a pride thing. Say you dont really want to work for minimum wage, for a big corporate which is what everyone starts at. so maybe you go to school and learn more things hoping to land a better job that maybe higher salary after being qualified. But then you find out that it gets you nowhere and STILL end up with a minium wage job anyway.
then you think well isnt it better to be your own boss, and work for yourself rather than be a slave to someone else. I guess thats why people turn to hustling, or even begging.
then maybe you throw up your hands and think well, minimum wage is better than nothing. I can survive, no big deal. im still alive, even if my lifespan is shortened by many years and I dont even get to enjoy the fruits of my labours. thats all im ever good for anyway. if you join say a union it will be many years to see a change for higher pay to cover the cost of living, but in the end they move those goal posts anyway, as soon as wages are raised the price of everything goes up even more!
I reckon thats how lots of people are and even Jesus was saying be content with your wages. so maybe its just better to be a cog in the machine? Even if your living conditions are deplorable or detoriarating.
i dont know. I think its maybe people are being OVERpaid for what they do, for example, politicans say we will take a twenty percent pay cut because of covid, but if you cut a cleaners wage they would have barely enough to live on PLUS they are doing essential work i.e cleaning.
but the whole virus perhsps came about simply because people werent washing their hands.
