Ebeth, not to pick on you, but you did say "do not believe that we are utterly unable to keep the 10 commandments". Then, when I questioned you on whether or not you've stopped sinning, period, you said "no, I haven't even interacted with anyone..."

Now, you say, "Okay, maybe I don't love my enemies but I pray for patience, I never said I was perfect, but what I'm trying to say is that with the Holy Spirit inside you it is much easier not to hate or lustor covet and keep from lying."

I'm sorry, but these are two totally different statements.

I haven't sinned knowingly, I haven't lied since I got saved, I was never a coveter, and since I got saved I stay in Christ and abide in Him and have repented on a daily basis in the Lord's prayer of any sin I do not know about, I have no sinful habits like you. being perfect and not sinning ARE two different things, like I answered you before It is not a sin not to love your enemies as long as I have forgiven them and do not hate them. I've been chastised in the past but it's been a long time I have a really close relationship with God and am in perfect peace with Him, if I were in sin it wouldn't be so. I've put up with your snotty accusatory comments and you don't even realize you are acting just like the pharisees who tried to catch Jesus in a lie or contradiction. Satan is the accuser of the brethren and I don't need you too especially when I clearly answered you honestly. nobody is perfect even if they are not struggling with sin in their lives. I'm not hiding anything, I have God with me and inquire of Him all the time. The closer you are to Him, the further He keeps you from sin. Rely on the Holy Spirit and stop trying with your own efforts and maybe you will succeed, but you have displayed the behavior of spomeone who has no fruit, just a scoffer of "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" "my yoke is easy my burden is light"

I can make no sense of your post. He, she, ? The context is incorrect to make a cogent point.
He should be she. I am typing on a phone and my reading vision is not so great. I do not catch all my mistakes

I am saying the one who you questioned may have a reason for saying what she did. We should ask her why she said that to see what her thinking was. Not just tell her she is wrong

I know what you mean about phone posting. Autocorrect is a pain.
I was responding to 1ofthem because of her entire post that culminated in the latter remarks that I took issue with as pertained to 1ofthem's observation about eBeth33's observations concerning sin.

What fascinates me about your protracted reply to my protracted post is, I wasn't talking to nor about you. My post was addressed to eBeth33.
Somehow you see yourself in my observations.
Yes. Yes I did, since others here have made accusations against me not sounding dissimilar from your above statement. Plus, I did say that Christians are still sinners, and that you offered correction on. So yes, it sounded like you were addressing me.

Have I made one of those text-driven media mistakes?

Also, can you explain -- and I'm not asking to challenge, but to ask -- how a Christian can still battle with their sinful natures and not still be sinn-ERS? I consider myself as such because I'm in this flesh that seems to have contained within it the "old man". I do not say "sinner" to mean that's my lifestyle. But, when you do something, you're an "er" of that, are you not?

Yes, This is what I saw you thinking also

My point was we need to ask 1ofthem what she meant by that. As I said, I can see why she would think that, depending on how you read eBeth33’s comments.

Exactly. You must die daily. You don't have to make the effort to die to something you're already perfectly dead to.
you simply don't understand what being dead to sin is, I died to sin and live in Christ who keeps me Holy by His spirit He leads me away from sinful people and and helped me quit any sinful habits.
You said you have sinful habits and thoughts, how can you be dead to sin, die daily and them sin habitually?

I find myself having to repeat my original responses. Go back and read them.

I assumed nothing. I asked her a direct question and got a direct answer. Then, she contradicted herself later, and you and others here have defended her.

I invite you and anyone else to go through my statements here and point out where I made my mistake. Here's what will happen: No one will actually do that, but instead will just launch a personal criticism of me and what they think I mean.
Your mistake was in not knowing the answer to the question, the answer is written in scripture, Scripture tells us we have come short, that no human has ever been able to be perfect before the Lord.

You have no sinful habits. Okay. Not buying it, but I've made that point ad nauseam and figure it's time to stop wasting my time on this. It's only others now whom I think I'll be responding to here.

The way I understand things is this: We are not perfectly dead to sin. Being so, for me at least, suggests that we are free of any sinful habits or any aspects of the fallen nature whatsoever. That suggests perfection. If Paul says he's the chief of sinners, I know there's no way I'm going go through a day without having something to repent of. I can work to be dead to sin and repent of my wrong actions every day, and the next say I will have to do it again.

To clarify any misunderstandings, I have experienced what I believe to be progressive sanctification. There are things I willfully did, say, 10 years ago that I cannot imagine doing today. That's God. But, it's an ongoing process. It is not completed, and the Bible tells us as much. If it is not completed, then sorry, you're still given to sinning. Not willfully or cheerfully, but you give in to gravity from time to time.

If you believe that you no longer sin, then I don't know what to tell you. And, since I tried to address that and have failed to make any headway, I don't know what else can be said to you.

I stand by my first statements here. No Christian fails to do something that he/she doesn't have to ask forgiveness for later. That doesn't make me an atheistic troll. It makes me honest.

I expect this from any and every forum I join now. Christian and non-Christian alike prove, ironically enough, my original points in this thread, that ALL people are still sinners. The christian has this difference: They don't like their sin and want to shrug it off. I find myself asking God, not infrequently, to take me out of this sinful flesh NOW. I'm still waiting. I hate the struggle. But, it's what He's assigned me to and so I must endure. But I digress.

Public forums don't invite like-minded folks. They invite all kinds of folks. And, all kinds include decent, civil, indecent and uncivil. And, those descriptions apply to Christian and non-Christian alike. I've been insulted here by those claiming to be of Christ (and maybe they indeed are), yet I did not once insult anyone.

But, will I leave? Of course not. Been doing this too long, and am too old at this point to not be able to handle it. None of this has come as any surprise.

Something else we ought to be aware of: Text-driven media are prone to misunderstandings. They are also given to drawing out of people their darkest sides, since anonymity protects them. Hence, the garbage we've seen here and will likely continue to see until God returns.

I stand by original challenge of Ebeth's original statements. I don't doubt this woman's trying to serve God, but to say that you're obeying all aspects of the moral law with perfection on a daily basis should arouse, at least, the curiosity of every true believer.

READ MY WORDS I never said I was perfect I said I wasn't sinning, and I stand by that NOBODY is perfect but with Jesus living His life in me I yeild to Him and I am not IN SIN but still I pray many times a day the Lord's prayer which asks to be forgiven of any trespasses I may be unaware of, and am abiding in Christ filled with The Holy Spirit who gives me the power to resist sin, it all happened rather effortlessly by yeilding to Christ He guidea my path away from sinful temptations. You seem to be struggling with your habitual sin which makes me think you do not have the help of The Holy Spirit in you. You certainly haven't exhibited any fruit of the spirit.

Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I disagree that you do not sin in any way you're aware of, or you are quite un-self-aware.

Some of the best Christians I know in this life battle with certain sinful habits. We seek God on them regularly and eventually, we know, we'll be free of them.

As for your contradictions, already addressed.

do not believe that we are utterly unable to keep the 10 commandments
The Apostle Jude was inspired to warn us of this very deception. "Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ" (Jude 3–4).

Notice that Jude warns of false teachers using the idea of "grace" as a vehicle for "licentiousness\—license to disobey the very laws of God!

Let us understand that no one can ever earn salvation—it is God's gift! The true grace of God leads to the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8–10; Romans 6:23). Those willing to obey God (Acts 5:29, 32) and who are under true grace will be God's "workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works" (Ephesians 2:10). God's grace does not eliminate the need for obedience and keeping God's commandments. The Apostle Paul warned that one could "receive the grace of God in vain" (2 Corinthians 6:1). And while the Apostle Peter exhorted Christians to "rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:13), he continues with the expectation that we do so "as obedient children" (v. 14; cf. v. 2).

The 10 Commandments List in Exodus 20:2-17

1.“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

2.“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

3.“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4.“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

5.“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.

6.“You shall not murder.

7.“You shall not commit adultery.

8.“You shall not steal.

9.“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10.“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.
If you love God and love others, the "commandments" are taken care of.

The purpose of the law was to expose us as sinners because we are incapable of keeping it. Hence, the need for Jesus.

NAME SOME SINFUL habits and I will tell you I do not, I stopped drinking, I stopped smoking, I stopped medical marijuana, I have been celibate to the letter for over a decade, what else? I don't watch porn or even sexually explicit movies, I shield my eyes from such things. You don't BUY IT? Then you don't know the power of God. Romans 8:5, ESV: "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." I don't have to answer to YOU I have perfect peace in my walk with God and He let's me know I'm doing fine.
