God The Holy Spirit is as much God as God The Father and God The Son.
Calling on The Spirit of God is not dishonouring or excluding The Father God.

John 4 (CSB)
23 But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.
Yes, the Father wants such people to worship him.

24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and in truth.”
Where is in this verses it is said that we should worship the Holy Spirit?
Why then the word of God is teaching us to praise God, but not the Holy Spirit?
It is Gods will, which he has expressed through the Holy Spirit.

you have totally lost it
In your eyes maby. But what is God saying? Thats important.
Would he agree with this teaching. That the believer can command and rule about him?
I cant find this in the bible. And it is a terrible way of disrespect God our father.

@Aidan1 was addressing a video that had false teaching. It was a video I found shocking as the person in the video was teaching that God needs people to give him permission to work which such teaching is false.
Thank you for clarifying.

yes I know

I was just making a general observation

yes the teaching is false...but I take into account all his other observations and frankly, anyone can make a case against anything and find the reason to do so on youtube ;)

I think we both know what is really going on in this thread

I don’t see any verses in the Bible that forbid worship to the Holy Spirit.

There is a song All of creation by MercyMe. In the lyrics there is a part that says “ Praise the Father , praise the Son and the Spirit in one.” I don’t see any wrong in those lyrics .

Here is the song :

Good worship is worship that empowers a person to live for the Lord without needing a "fix." Counterfeit worship is worship that gives people an emotional fix. In other words, it produces an altered state of consciousness and conjures emotional states in a person that they find themself needing more and more. They just don't seem to feel "right" throughout the week and need their fix. They don't need to worship the Lord necessarily, they just need that emotional high.
you are making a strong case for people to shout 'hallelujah my Savior lives' not sorry to offend your dried up sensibilities

Jesus said even the rocks would cry out if the people did not praise Him

The Triumphal Entry
(Zechariah 9:9–13; Matthew 21:1–11; Mark 11:1–11; John 12:12–19)

28After Jesus had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

29As He approached Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, He sent out two of His disciples, 30saying, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here. 31If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’ ”

32So those who were sent went out and found it just as Jesus had told them. 33As they were untying the colt, its owners asked, “Why are you untying the colt?”

34“The Lord needs it,” they answered. 35Then they led the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks over it, and put Jesus on it.

36As He rode along, the people spread their cloaks on the road. 37And as He approached the descent from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully in a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:

38“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!”c

“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”d

39But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!”

40“I tell you,” He answered, “if they remain silent, the very stones will cry out.”

you, it seems, prefer to throw rocks at people

I won't call you a Pharisee, but they seem to be the only ones in this descriptive entry into Jerusalem before His crucifixion that wanted everyone to SHUT UP!

no Mr Alien...good worship is worship that God knows comes from heart. He is no respecter of persons...as you most definately are...and apparently He likes alot of NOISE with EMOTIONS..

hey~ no one is going to stop you from hiding in your basement and pulling the covers over your head...we are not worshipping you, or telling you how to worship, so WHY ARE YOU SO STINKING OFFENDED?

You want scripture? Here's some:

"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."—John 15:18-19
you are so obsessed with drowning out all voices but your own, you do not recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to you and trying to reason with you

here is some scripture for you

Luke 10:21
At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.

what does that mean to you? looks like Jesus had some emotion going on.

Jesus Cleanses the Temple
(Matthew 21:12–17; Mark 11:15–19; Luke 19:45–48)

12After this, He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and His disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13When the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14In the temple courtsb He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables. 15So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16To those selling doves He said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn My Father’s house into a marketplace!”

17His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”

can you imagine that? such PASSION and LOVE for God that He is consumed by it!!!

well 2 things here. 1. Jesus got very angry...he drove out the money changers in the temple courts with a whip he made Himself!
emotions again! now the Bible says do not let the sun go down on your wrath...do you think Jesus was all apologetic to the money changers or so angry he cast them out? emotions!

in fact, Jesus is even recorded as having cried over the city of Jerusalem! we all know that story...EMOTIONS AGAIN

37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! 38 See, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’” Matthew 23

Jesus was crying because those He came to save would not receive Him

Jesus would like to know if you will receive Him...with all your heart...or are you going to continue to harass and mock those who have and are crying out so the rocks won't have to?

This seems to be the case in scripture. I cannot find examples of prayers addressed to the Son either, except Stephen told Jesus to receive his spirit-- when Stephen was apparently talking to Jesus while having a vision of Him.

But I wouldn't say that someone who prayed to the Holy Spirit or to Jesus necessarily had a false spirit and not the Holy Spirit.

But there are also praises of the Lamb in the Book of Revelation.

I agree with you. Well, i ask me when and why this came up. If the bible is not teaching it or encouraged to do this.

Does praise equate to worship? I like that song, and had not heard it for a while, so thanks for that! :)
The line, “Praise the Father, praise the Son and the Spirit in one.”, reminds me of this song :D

I think in some cases praise can equate to worship. In other cases it doesn’t. In the case of the song I posted, I think praise equates as worship here. I like the song as well. :) That song you posted is also beautiful :)

I suspect the roots of it came from when the Trinity were formally codified as doctrine, certain phrases and hymns came to emphasize the Trinity as opposed to specific teaching in scripture. For example, Jesus spoke of praying in His name, but the traditional prayer ends with in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. We hear this from Roman Catholics and some Protestants at the end of prayers.

We hear similar ideas in Anglican hymns, which have affected the church culture of many people represented here. Consider this Doxology from the 1700s:

Here is a Wesleyan hymn addressed to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Of course Wesley's Holy, Holy, Holy praises the blessed Trinity.

This Gregorian chant attributing endless glory to the Trinity is said to have been written in the fourth century:

I was on a discussion list with a retired Classics (Greek and Latin) professor who used to often write that 'worship' means to bown down with ones head toward the floor or ground-- to prostate. There is a word for 'prostrate' that is often translated worship in the New Testament, and another in the Old Testament. This is the most common word translated that way, though another word for 'service' is translated that way and there could be others. Of course, that would depend on your translation also.

When it says John 'worshipped' the angel in one translation, another translation says 'bow down.'

I have read the assertion that Paul is quoting from an ancient hymn here in Ephesians 5:14.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

If that were the case and one were allowed to address the 'asleep in Christ' in a song. Psalm 148 has the singers addressing the angels and heavenly hosts, telling them to praise the Lord. Psalm 24 addresses gates and doors. Maybe we shouldn't be too legalistic about who is addressed in hymns.

Worship is also directed to the Son. Every knee will bow and confess Jesus Christ is Lord according to Philippians 2:10-11. I don’t see explicit worship of the Holy Spirit in the Bible, but in John 4:24 Jesus says God is spirit.

Look, here's the thing. The point is this.

Prolonged praise and worship that puts people into a sort of hypnotic-like state is a counterfeit. People think they're calling on God; they believe the Holy Spirit responds because they start feeling warm and fuzzy; they believe it's real because that's what they've been told or that's what they want to believe. But they're not really praising God nor are they receiving from the Holy Spirit. It's all an exercise in self-indulgence. They're calling things out of themselves that they misinterpret as God or the Holy Spirit.

You can't say some forms of this sort of thing good and others bad. The whole thing's a sham from start to finish.
What do you think of the story of Paul and Eutychus? Paul preached on and on and I guess this guy was lazy and wasn't all that concerned and thought Paul was taking too long. Or did Paul cause him to go into a hypnotic-like state and get the warm and fuzzies right before he fell to his death?

Acts 20:9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

Sometimes, Christians need to be patient and worship God for as long as He wants and is moving on them. Now I have been in churches where they scream out song after song for what seems like hours...as if they are trying to scream or force God down and that's not going to work, either.

However, sometimes God wants more than everyone just going through the motions to try to get church service over before 8pm... so they can all go out and get some Pizza Hut or KFC before it closes...lol

It's ok to worship the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. There is nothing wrong with it.

We are instructed to pray to the Father in the Name of Jesus. God is our Father...Jesus is our advocate. The Holy Ghost is our comforter and guide. There is nothing wrong with worshipping them. Scripture says the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one and agree as one.

1John 5
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
