Going back to the original topic of the Parable of the Ten Virgins....

The oil is DEFINITELY the Holy Spirit. I also believe the "lamps" to be The Word of God - the Scriptures. God's Word is a LAMP to our feet and a LIGHT to our path.

During the day, all lamps look a like....but at night only lamps with oil are full of light....

Matthew 25:1-3

King James Version

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

There's really soooooo much in this parable of the ten virgins... let's glean the parable together! I love going deep into the scriptures...so MANY treasures that give life!(y)

^ Red herring alert.

My post is on target - you assume that since a person, man or woman, is chosen and sent by the Lord they become a Apostle.

All of us, who are in Christ, have been chosen by Him and sent forth into the world with His Gospel.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

No women were made apostles. Not a single scripture verse.

I recommend to you our sister Phoebe, who is a [servant of the church which is at Cenchrea, that you receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and that you help her in whatever matter she may have need of you; for she herself has also been a helper of many, and of myself as well.

3Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4who risked their own necks for my life, to whom not only do I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles; 5also greet the church that is in their house. Greet Epaenetus, my beloved, who is the first convert to Christ from [d]Asia. 6Greet Mary, who has worked hard for you.
7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsfolk and my fellow prisoners, who are outstanding in the view of the apostles, who also [were in Christ before me.
8Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. 9Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys my beloved. 10Greet Apelles, the approved in Christ. Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus. 11Greet Herodion, my kinsman. Greet those of the household of Narcissus, who are in the Lord. 12Greet Tryphaena and Tryphosa, workers in the Lord. Greet Persis the beloved, who has worked hard in the Lord. 13Greet Rufus, a choice man in the Lord, also his mother and mine. 14Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers and sisters with them. 15Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the [g]saints who are with them. 16Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.

17Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and [h]hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. 18For such people are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. 19For the report of your obedience has reached everyone; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good, and innocent in what is evil. 20The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.

Dear Sister, satanism 101 is 'exalt the woman above the man' = disrupt God's Order.

No matter how hard you try
God will not deny
His appointed Man
that unfolds His Plan
satan will
on the other hand
substitue a woman
for the man
for he knows that she
was not the first, but He
Oh David, I've never exalted the woman above the man, nor have I disrupted God's Order.

I simply stated that the relationship between man and woman applies ONLY in the marriage covenant in which the woman submits to the authority of her husband concerning the marriage, NOT her faith in Christ.

As long as male and female exist in the physical realm, the male will always be the head of the woman IN A MARRIAGE.

Whereas, IN THE BODY OF CHRIST there is no male or female...ONLY Christ is the HEAD, not man or woman.

How about we just get back to the Parable of the Ten Virgins....:love:(y)

Yes
And the light is specifically to illuminate.
Illuminate our path
Our reading
Our contacts( people....lamp on a table vs under it)

And other dynamics

The Holy Spirit baptism

Jesus said don't do anything.
don't go out .
don't start a Ministry .
don't do anything until you get the baptism of the Holy Spirit

The upper room first
Everything else second
Yes! The Holy Spirit baptism is so empowering! It's really like going from being totally blind to having 20/20 vision - amazing!

He illuminates the Word of God giving us understanding that totally surpasses human reasoning and understanding. I really love the way the Holy Spirit takes the Word of God and renews our minds transforming us so we can recognize and know the perfect will of God.

There is soooooo much LOVE in the perfect will of God. Jesus Christ has shown us the Father's Love for each of us! We know Jesus and are known by Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

All we think, say and do needs to be done by the Holy Spirit according to the Word of God - our Lamps (God's Word) with Oil (God's Holy Spirit)!(y)

I'd really like to just stay in the upper room and not go out but, no one stayed in the upper room.....they all went out into the public arena in the streets.

No.

That's not possible for a variety of scriptural reasons.

The two chiefest reaons are:

1. The Holy Spirit is God who is an infinite being that exists outside of time, space, and matter. That we occasionally need to refill the Holy Spirit isn't a Biblical concept.

Ephesians 1:13-14
13In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

The Holy Spirit is a promise and a guarantee of an inheritance. Losing the Holy Spirit would be a broken promise and not a guarantee. God doesn't lie so the promise and guarantee are never lost. The oil is not the Holy Spirit.

2. In the parable of the ten virgins, Jesus said the five wise virgins told the five foolish to go buy more oil then the five foolish went out to try to buy more oil.

Acts 8:18-22 says that attempting to buy the Holy Spirit with money is a sin.

It's sound truth that Jesus would never illustrate a story in which five wise virgins were instructed to go sin. Whether Jesus was being literal or figurative in His parable, He would not have used a known sin to illustrate righteousness.

Human reasoning is blocking the flow of the Holy Spirit. I recommend praying with humility and asking the Holy Spirit to give you understanding.(y)

The whole chapter 25 of Matthew really should be read altogether. It includes three parables of warnings and instructions...

1 - The Ten Virgins (Five Foolish and Five Wise)

Matthew 25

King James Version

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

2 - The Talents (Being a Steward with the Lord's Money)

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

3 - The Sheep and the Goats (True Believers minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the Body of Christ)

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

If it applied only in marriage then God would of said so.

But i AGREE, for we are married to Christ and He is the Head, therefore as the Scripture states that in His Church a woman should never be over a man.

The Word of God is Truth and this was not written for self pleasure nor is it antiquated as you seem to be believing.

A man indeed ought not to have his head covered (by the authority of a woman), because he is the image and glory of God (so his function of leadership reflects the majesty of the divine rule),
but the woman is the glory of the man.
Man was not created from woman, but woman from man.
Neither was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
For this reason the woman ought to have authority on her head to avoid displeasing the angels.

Powerful TRUTH that has never changed and those who do change/twist it, do so for their own pleasure and not to please Christ.

The Holy Angels know the Order of God and will have no part in displacing that Order - except for fallen angels.

The whole chapter 25 of Matthew really should be read altogether.

Actually all of this starts in the previous chapter and all are the same basic story, told in various ways:

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Mat 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Mat 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Mat 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
Mat 24:46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Mat 24:47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mat 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Mat 25:37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Mat 25:38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Mat 25:39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Mat 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Mat 25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Mat 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Mat 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Mat 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Noah enters the Ark first, then the flood comes. The one taken or accepted is Noah, the only one left is the "one left" which means to be rejected in the Greek. That applies to all who were left outside of the Ark. This is the same in another gospel where Lot is mentioned. The same thing happens, Lot is taken to safety just like Noah was and those left behind suffered wrath. This same order is repeated:

Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Just like the plague of hail in the OT, the one taken from the field was saved, the one left in the field was not.

Here we have good vs. bad...same order given.

Mat 24:48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
Mat 24:49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
Mat 24:50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
Mat 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Here the good servant is rewarded, then the evil servant is dealt with. The good servant knew the lord was coming and worked but the evil servant did whatever he wanted because he didn't think the lord was coming soon.

Mat 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mat 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mat 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

This one is obvious. The wise virgins were taken by the bridegroom, the unwise were left behind.

Mat 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods
Mat 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Mat 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Mat 25:17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Mat 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Mat 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Mat 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Mat 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Mat 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Mat 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Mat 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Mat 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Mat 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Mat 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Mat 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Same order again. The good are first, then the evil one is dealt with. Once you see this pattern, and study the Greek meaning of taken and left then who is who becomes very clear.

Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Yet again the same order. The good are rewarded first. They are accepted into the kingdom which is what paralambano¯ means. These are the one taken/accepted.

Mat 25:35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

These are the "one left" and they are even placed on the left hand which is the negative side in biblical examples.

This is the end of the examples Christ gave and they all have in common the good dealt with first and the evil dealt with last. The one taken and one left are exactly the same in this regard.

Don't make the very common error of ignoring paralambano¯ and that it happens before the other is aphie¯mi which both means to be rejected and to leave to die. The one paralambano¯ survives because the word means to accept and bring someone near to you like a family member or a spouse. This matches what the rapture/harpazo accomplishes.

The one taken is taken into the safety of the Ark and ends up in a safe place, 8 family members accepted. That's what paralambano¯ means. The ones left/aphie¯mi were not worthy of being on the Ark...and that's what aphie¯mi means, to reject and divorce and leave to die...the opposite of what paralambano¯ means.

In all the examples Christ gives in the end of Matthew 24 and in 25, there is always two groups. The first are always the righteous who are saved, and the last group are the wicked who perish or suffer some negative fate. There is really no excuse to get it backwards in the one taken and one left. The order of events match all the other examples and the Greek definitions further prove that it is the one taken who is saved and the one left who is not.

Happens first ..................................................................Happens last

Good-Noah and family.....................................................Bad-the rest/drowned
Good-Lot and his family......(Luke 17)...............................Bad-those left in the city
Good-the one taken/accepted...........................................Bad-the one left/rejected
Good-the goodman..........................................................Bad-the thief
Good-the wise servant.....................................................Bad-the evil servant
Good-the wise virgins......................................................Bad-the foolish virgins
Good-the servants that increased the talents.....................Bad-the servant that did not have an increase
Good-the sheep...............................................................Bad-the goats

The saved people............................................................The punished people

In these verses Christ will give multiple examples to teach the same exact thing. There is always a good one on one side and a bad one on the other. The good one is always shown in some type of action FIRST, and the bad one is always LAST.

All on the left side represent the same group of people that are good, wise, profitable, accepted etc.
All on the right side represent the same group of people that are bad, foolish, unprofitable, rejected etc.

Now seek, pray and ask for the Promise of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Luke 3:16

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Matt 3:16

Acts 1:4-5 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Looks like you just posting verses with baptism in it, but you must do those thing I post before if you want to receive the Holy Spirit. Jesus says in John 14: 25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Let's see something else Jesus have said unto you....15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

So many people want the Holy Spirit but refuse to keep the Commandments and the Sabbath day on the seventh day of the weeek is included in the Commandments as well.

A word search on “Holy Spirit” or “Holy Ghost” in the Bible is good.

Then, ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding as you read all the scriptures that mention “Holy Spirit” or “Holy Ghost.”

I like John 20:21-22:

So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:21-22 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John 20:21-22&version=NKJV

and Acts 2:1-4:

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1-4 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Acts 2:1-4&version=NKJV

May the Lord seal, baptize and fill you with the Holy Spirit, in the Name of Jesus Christ, amen! Enjoy!(y)

That's not the process at all. Jesus says in John 15: 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. Not the Holy Spirit!

But Christ said that while the old covenant was in place so naturally those commandments and the Sabbath were to be obeyed but his death brought the new covenant that replaced the old covenant and the new has different commandments and the Saturday Sabbath law is no longer valid nor part of this new covenant.

I'm late to this post--glanced at some of the postings and see Ewq mentioned the parables repeating the same thing and I agree. We need to pay attention when a number is used--the number signifies something--its not random. (Interesting occurrences of 10 in the bible to follow. ) I believe Runningman said the oil represents annointing/indwelling of the Holy Spirit--that makes sense as it is the only way we can live out the Christian life.

It's important to remember the bible was not written with subheadings, chapters and numbers--it may make it easier to find verses, but it also breaks up a message when it was meant to be read as a whole. For example, Jesus is speaking in literal language to the apostles about the end times and he tells them to watch and be ready. that is followed with parables about being doing God's work and to always be ready, for we "know not when the Master comes". The number 10 connotes 'completeness'--when Christ comes again--the world as we know it will come to an end and the door is closed for anyone to receive salvation. My take away is always be about "my father's business" and "be ready!"

The number 10 in the bible (just as matter of interest, not to support the parable)
In the Bible, the number 10 is used 242 times. The designation "10th" is used 79 times. Ten is also viewed as a complete and perfect number, as is 3, 7 and 12.
In Genesis 1 we find the phrase "God said" 10 times, which is a testimony of His creative power. God gave the 10 Commandments to man.
The Passover lamb was selected on day 10 of the 1st month (Exodus 12:3), as was Jesus, the Lamb that takes away the sins of the world (John 12:28 - 29; 1Corinthians 5:7). Day 10 of the 7th month is also the Holy Day known as the Day of Atonement.

Another interesting fact--10 plagues in Egypt and 10 Revelation.
