God never lead me to take up that particular custom. I don't find it necessary. As long as I have hair my head is covered. 
Though I do find the custom of veils among my Eastern sisters quite charming. For me hats come off when indoors.

God looks at our heart, not our head coverings. Before God gave us the new covenant that put his commands in our hearts rather than in the fleshly commandments, it was necessary to cover the head. we are under the new covenant, where we obey with out will and hearts, not earthly commands.
However, I was given a prayer shawl of wool from Israel's sheep and specially blessed. I used it to cover me keeping out the world so I was alone with my God while I meditated on scripture. It was powerful how it worked.
I let no one use my shawl, except one woman who was in the midst of a bipolar episode so extreme she felt suicide was her only way to cope. I explained the shawl was not magic, it was to close out the world and be with God. She said 'That's powerful" when she put it on and her bad episode with bipolar was over.
I feel that using a head covering as a help to be humble before our Lord is not necessary at all, but oh, it is such a help.

Thank you for responding! I'm really very interested in different points of view. While convicted of this belief personally. I don't need others to agree with me. Dialogue is invigorating!
A careful examination of 1 Corinthians 11 will lead to the opposite conclusion.
1 Corinthians 11:2-16 (NIV):
2 I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. 3 But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[a] and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. 6 For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.
7 A man ought not to cover his head,[b] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own[c] head, because of the angels. 11 Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. 12 For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
13 Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? Verse 11 begins with, "Nevertheless, in the Lord..." which indicates a change in the culture. In Christ, men and women are mutually dependent. Neither has any inherent authority over the other, and neither has any responsibility to show deference to the other.
In verse 15, Paul states clearly, "Long hair is given to her [a woman] as a covering." Women need not cover their hair with other things; their hair itself is their "covering".

There is a recent thread of scholarship that suggests Paul was actually following contemporary medical (mis)understanding in this passage. It is ridiculous to modern readers in its ignorance, but in the Greek/Roman world, they simply did not have anything like the medical knowledge we have now. In short, a woman's hair was considered a sexual organ. I type about 90 words a minute... it took more time to locate the reference.
I had 2 years of typing in school and at one time could type about 70 wpm. Nowadays, more like 30 wpm.

Wow I always knew I should have worked on typing! My teachers name was Mr. Minute! It really was! Isn't that a hoot!
i can type 2-3 numbers per second at my peak, with a slightly-larger-than-average numpad
however typing letters? not so much
I type a fair bit in my job so I have built up speed over the years. I'm actually slower on this laptop as it's newer and my fingers are not as accustomed to the keys.

Ah! I got away with hand writing in my career. Those were the days! Bless secretaries!
Another part of my job is entering monthly water usage volumes, so I use the keypad... very quickly.
