I thought this would be an interesting topic. My natural curiosity often gets to me on these forums and I start wondering why people chose their avatar picture or what their user name means. (Kind of like deciphering those vanity license plates, hehe.)

So this thread is for those who would like to share about their avatars and user names! Have fun!

In my case, my user name is just my name. Nothing exciting there.

My avatar here on CC looks pretty dark, almost like a black dot. I should probably change the brightness and contrast of the pic. If you look closely, you can see a male anime character. In my early to mid 20's I used to watch a fair bit of anime, though not really anything mainstream.

The character is one of the more interesting characters I've encountered in fiction or media:

Vincent Law is the main character of the psychological thriller anime "Ergo Proxy." He's a refugee trying to earn his citizenship in the domed city of Rondeau. (An ecological disaster made life nearly untenable on Earth's surface.) Rondeau is just as much a dystopia as the city Vincent fled from, but its decay and coming demise are not immediately obvious to the casual observer and its many problems are being covered up by the elites who rule there.

During the first episode of the anime, Vincent Law's eyes are closed the entire time. This makes him seem both weak and ineffectual, but also is highly symbolic of his obliviousness to the truth of the reality he lives in.

My avatar is a screencap of the first moment that Vincent Law opens his eyes in the series. It is right before he is forced to flee from Rondeau into the outside world. It is a masterful representation of his progression from ignorance to awareness of truth.

I will repeat what I always say in these "why did you choose your avatar/nick" threads:

I like lynx because they are cool. They are bigger than a house cat, big enough to defend themselves, but smaller than a tiger, small enough to not hunt humans. If a noisy human is trampling through their woods they would much rather just lie camouflaged in a tree and wait for him to move on.

The only reason you have to fear a lynx is if he feels you are threatening him. You pretty much have to climb the tree he's sleeping in and mess with him to be in any danger.

Of course if you do this... he can take your scalp clean off with one swipe.

One thing to keep in mind: We are NOT bobcats! Bobcats are subspecies of lynx, not vice versa. Bobcats are the awkward, gangly cousins that we never invite to the family reunion, but they always show up anyway.

See Jerry Clower's "A coon huntin story."

It takes a good while for him to even get around to the story, but it ends with a lynx... Or as he said, "We call 'em souped-up wildcats."

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The word perfect is the Greek word artios (my user name) which means to be complete and perfect.
It is in reference to what was made unto me through the accomplishments of Christ.

Additionally: there is the verb form of artios → (exartizō) in the words throughly furnished - which is to furnish completely.
It’s the Word of God that makes us perfect and furnished completely for our walk in resurrection perfection.

My avatar is what the Canadians say when they finish a sentence.....................I suppose I should put one up.

My nickname Omegatime means the end of time. Given to me because of my studies in time. I fully expect to see the tribulation!

"The Point" was an animated movie that was released in 1971. It was about a boy named Oblio who born with a round head in a land of people with points on their heads. Not having a point, he was exiled, along with his dog Arrow, to the Pointless forest.
His journey through this land of bizarre denizens reminds me of living in today's world. You never know who or what's going to step into your path. As a 14 year-old in 1972, my nick-name was Oblio. Perhaps because of our shared live and let live attitude. Wow, Man! Lol

Maybe I need to create an avator. Any suggestions?
I choose my name as one of my many email addresses start that way. In manners and courtesy to ladies, I copy from men of the Victorian era on how they treated the ladies. I continue to open doors for ladies (despite the look from strong feminists). Many do not know how to say "Thank You" anymore. I continue to hold my car door for the ladies I am giving a ride to. If, on a date, I walk her to the door but never ask to be allowed in, or at least walk her to her car door and make sure she leaves the parking area before I do. Ladies, as well as all people. need to be respected for who they are and not what they are or what they do.
