Hi there mates, I got few questions about what the bible say or recommend in these cases:

-Ignore a person, what to do if someone calls you and you feel like dont want to talk to that person much or anymore.

-Business, what about working with secular people driven by vanity and ego, I got few clients like that... well actually in my world, music biz, most are like that, their intentions are not always clear, trying to get attention, fame and money more than making beautiful art IMHO.

-You dad gets sick with cancer so you move back to your hometown to stay with him and after few months you start getting bitter and depressed as you dont have a job, couple, friends, etc... in your hometown anymore and you think you are wasting your life there, even your dad tells you to move on but you see that his health is not 100% stable.

-After 20 years working in music, using your natural talents, your passion, etc... you start thinking about quitting and looking for a ¨normal¨job.

Thanks for your time, stay blessed!

Hello and welcome to CC!

To your first question, I recommend you read Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. As a Christian, you have the opportunity to share the most important news in all creation with that person, and Jesus does command us to love our neighbours, but we aren't "obligated" to like particular people or spend extensive time with them. What you can do is pray for those people; you may find you have more energy for them.

To your second question, you can reasonably assume that secular people have different motives than Christians. Don't let that stop you from interacting with them; just don't expect non-Christians to act like Christians. I don't know of any particularly relevant Bible passages, other than "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers." In other words, don't become a business partner with (or marry) someone who doesn't share your core values and beliefs.

To your third question, refer again to Boundaries. Let your Dad be an adult, and don't be a martyr. There may come a time when he absolutely needs your help; it doesn't sound like that is the case presently. If you have other family, inform (don't ask) them that you are stepping back, with the unspoken implication that it might be time for them to step up.

To your fourth question, you aren't married to your music, so don't be afraid to do something completely different for a while. You may find your passion returning... or not. There's no shame in changing course. You might want to read through Proverbs; I suggest one chapter a day for a few months.

Ok...
Timothy's letter that Paul wrote him says that scriptures are useful so that the man of God can be equipped for every good work.

But just because you are equipped doesn't mean that you have an attitude that makes you good at it. Or even that you should try to do a task on a regular basis.

Me? I suck at customer service. Sure I can appear wonderful for about 10 minutes...but then my "Wonderfulness" degrades extremely rapidly.
I have a face made for radio and a voice made for the idiot surfer in cartoons.(the one who did too many drugs)

And I agree... people are annoying for a wide variety of reasons. Another reason I liked my construction career. Yes, I'm very good at that. Trained half the guys doing it today. But they all get on my nerves after 6 months. Which made me want to get the job done so I could get fired and get a different job. Where I run into guys I knew and do the exact same routine over and over again of getting annoyed and getting fired again because the job was done. (I have nothing but good feelings about getting fired...and yes, I'm odd in that)

Work is work. It isn't ministry.

You get paid for work.
You volunteer for ministry because you have a regular job and can afford to do the other on a voluntary basis.

The TWO are NOT the same and should NOT be blended together as to blur the lines.
A workman deserves his wages. ALWAYS.
And when asked to give to an employer (even if it's something religious) you explain: "I give to God, you are not him. I don't support ministries".

And religious music singers and bands have dumped crappy music on us for decades now with overly simplified music requiring no talent whatsoever.

When we begin to get better music I might have faith in some of them. But currently the rates of crappy behavior coming out of them but studiously hushed is over the top. And I'm not talking about just the alcoholism.

So I do understand why you are disillusioned. Believe it or not the secular bands are better behaved PLUS pay better.

And taking care of parents?
Are you daft?
Of course you can't do that. Get a nurse or nanny or whatever level of care he needs, assist paying for it, and overwatch the care...That's your job and playing the part of dutiful loin-fruit.

So...there ya go.

How many Christian businesses do you think require working with Non-Christians? Most if not all.
I used to work for a Christian bookstore. They had a music section and the Christian music they ordered was through a secular distribution company.
What about the equipment you use? Was it made by Christians with good intentions?
Really unless you see a person or business that is blatantly bad, part of working is interacting and working with Non-Christians.

As far as where you're living, what was your purpose in going there? To sacrifice for another? Get a job. Even part time. Get friends. Even if it's online.
Depression makes you stagnant. Stagnation frustrates you. That can make you depressed. See the circle? If you're unhappy, change it.

God's Answer ---
Psalm 34:17 AMP
17
When the righteous cry [for help], the Lord hears
And rescues them from all their distress and troubles.

Business, what about working with secular people driven by vanity and ego, I
God's Answer
Proverbs 14:7-9 AMP

7 Leave the presence of a [shortsighted] fool,
For you will not find knowledge or hear godly wisdom from his lips.
8

The wisdom of the sensible is to understand his way,
But the foolishness of [shortsighted] fools is deceit.
9
Fools mock sin [but sin mocks the fools],
But among the upright there is good will and the favor and blessing of God.

You dad gets sick with cancer so you move back to your hometown to stay with him and after few months you start getting bitter and depressed as you dont have a job, couple, friends, etc... in your hometown anymore and you think you are wasting your life there, even your dad tells you to move on but you see that his health is not 100% stable.

I say ----Well msound ----the picture you paint here is of an unbeliever ------one who's compassion is worldly --producing burden like conditions ----not Spiritual -----for Spiritual compassion is a genuine Agape LOVE that is born out of our Faith and Agape for God -----and this Compassion will not cause the person to be under any burden some conditions when helping someone --you do it with JOY as you are concerned with the human Spirit and Soul and will want to elevate the other persons burdens and suffering --- The Parable of the Good Samaritan is a good one to read ------

After 20 years working in music, using your natural talents, your passion, etc... you start thinking about quitting and looking for a ¨normal¨job.
God's Answer
Proverbs 3:5-6 AMP

5
Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart
And do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6
[a]In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,

And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

Msound:

Welcome to CC.

Your Profile Page says you have been a Christian "all your life."

If you do not mind, I have a couple of questions for you:

1) How can a person be a Christian "all their life?"

2) If a person has been a Christian that long, would they NOT have read the Bible enough to come up with the answers to the questions you posed?

thanks......

Thanks mates, really nice and wise words here.

Yeah I know I could sound as an unbeliever, thats the whole point, I mean by being a Christian all my life that my dad used to be a pastor, all my family are believers but they dont go to church much or at all, I went to Catholic schools, I used to pray and study the bible... but I have lost track or the good path few years ago, specially during my period living in London, I had serious problems with anxiety and depression, I still struggle with that sometimes and I just realize a month ago or so that I have to stop, I feel like I was driving by demons and I want to spend some time focusing on reconnecting with God, learning more about the Bible (which I read everyday) and about praying too, hope this makes sense, cheers.

Your relationships of friends and peers are going to do more for you than anything else. Of course study the scriptures...of course you should pray. Of course you should be doing these things with your friends and peers.

Find the men in the bread bakery...they will be good Christian men to hang out with and be friends with.

It is not always easy being a child of the Most High God. I like to practice puttding all my cares upon Him when I am distressed. It can be difficuult at times. but once we learn to truly rely upon Him the enemy runs away.
One night this past week, I could not sleep. I have been having a real tussle with my bank all due, believe it or not, to the pandemic. I was angry with the bank employee who was supposed to be helping me. I was going to gather all of my data to throw in her face and give her a good scolding.
I prayed and realized I was being a total ass and asked forgiveness and gave all my cares to the Lord God.
The next day I went to the bank, but something changed, I was at total peace and it seemed my patience had not end. I talked calmly to the folks there because I could not talk with the woman who havd helped me I did not wish evil upon her, I actually was prayign for her. She was not there, she has been out ill for three weeks, so I ask all to pray for her.
The wonder of it all was the gift of incredible patience. So much so was it, I was so joyous. No bittwer feelings, no animosity, and it had to be from the Holy Almight Father.
So, though the bank has truly wronged me, I can only think of others it has done far worse to. It seems when we become a certain age, we are fai game to the slyness of certain buisiness entities,. After all we have our pensions to care for.
It seems this is possibly a substitute for the preferentes of the last decade.

Would you believe Rita Haywort with Fred Astaire and Elvis Presley? Rita Haywoorth is quite incredible here. They say she also removed a glove very well... Anyways, speaking of good music, I hope someone here, anyone, likes this one.
