hi am single mum with one child who is a girl in her early teens. As a single mum i have always felt like i do not fit in church and i do not know if any other single parent felt the same. With the single girls they treat like you missed since i have a child ,the married women most of them you clearly see they insecure they think their husband may get attracted to you which has made not interact with them though some are good i avoid some judging me wrongly.Has anyone ever felt this?

I don't have any kids but I get the same reaction to some extent - as though any single woman is just too tantalizing for the men and should keep their distance.

Cate--I don't have any kids either but can also relate to the reactions you're getting. Have you thought about checking out some other churches? My old church consisted of many, many single, divorced, or blended families so I think people there were much more understanding of that situation.

I know it's hard to go to a different church (I'm in that process right now), but maybe the church you're at isn't where God is calling you or maybe it just isn't the right church for you?

Yeah sometimes, and all you want to do is go to church and praise God! maybe some fellowship with like minded people. Even the two closest women in my life dont like me near their husbands.

well sadly the jealousy of the women and the lusting of the men cannot be controlled by us. it is upto God to work on those people. meantime, yes find another church that is welcoming.

Remember the most important reason to go to assembly is for fellowship, everythign else you can do at home
you can read bible. be taught by holy spirt. praise god in song and dance. get on floor and worship Him

But you cant fellowship alone and that is the commandment we have.

so find a church you feel comfortable in and share coffee and cake together

Hi Kate,
I hear you and your observation is real, as I have experienced that over and over again as a single parent myself. It's even more difficult if you look good, take care of yourself have excellent values. Like you rghtly said, most are the sad case of insecurity. Some married women fail to realise that men are visual creatures and when they neglect to take care of themselves, they become unattractive to their husbands and instead of making themselves over, they conveniently shift the blame. Don't lose yourself because you're trying to fit in.

Well the OP isn't Guest or Banned... Technically it's remotely possible she's still on the forum.

Yeah, no, probably not.

why picking up old threads ?

they may not be around to answer it. Start a new topic.
Like it or not everyone judges people at church, singles included ...nobody will ever really fit in unless they are the pastor and his own family who run the whole show and live in the manse.

But its not about you or being single or married if you are there to worship and in Christ, I dont think people actually care if you are single or married or your wore your sunday best or rags cos you dont have a job.

You arent there for that. Its not about 'fitting in' the body of Christ in more like a natural organism that grows the more people who are added to it. Comprende. Find fellowship with those who accept that you are HUMAN just like them and acknowledge the Saviour

I bowed out of church going a while ago, so I don't really care about the dynamics going on in them anymore. If the lord leads me to one in the future, I will wholeheartedly participate in the service and worship of the lord. I saw the thread in the new post and thought I might air what little opinion I have.
