brother this which Moses commanded in his law exodus 21:24
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
( Is in no way the same as this )
but I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
Matthew 5:38-39 KJV
it’s actually a direct contradiction Moses is telling us to take equal revenge an eye for an eye a wound for a wound justice
Jesus is saying “don’t take revenge turn the other cheek I’m the lord I will repay “
It’s opposite not because God changes but because he changed us . the difference in Moses words and Christs is who he was talking to
the law was for these before they had remission of sins and received the primose of the Holy Ghost
“knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
1 Timothy 1:9-10 KJV
We can’t stay in that group , the law has a completely different purpose and can save no one
“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:19-20 KJV
that had to happen before the gospel could be preached to the world because it’s for sinners who acknolwedge thier guilt and repent the law had to prove all guilty of sin before Christ could come and remit our sins truly removing them
“What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:9-10 KJV
This has to happen before this could happen
“But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, ( that’s what the law says )
that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.”
Galatians 3:22 KJV
you have the law proving everyone to be a sinner and needing salvation from God and then when all hope is lost you have the gospel
If people don’t acknolwedge they are sinners this doesn’t benefit them
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”
Romans 3:21-26 KJV
Theblaw had to rebuke man and make us aware of sin before Jesus could come and call us to repent of sin
the law had a time stamp it would carry the world through tonthe gospel that’s it’s purpose to lead the world to Jesus and his word
Christian’s have the gospel now
“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.”
Galatians 3:19, 22-25 KJV
“The law and the prophets were until John:
since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
Luke 16:16
“now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; “
the law and prophets were foretelling the gospel to come later . it’s contrary at almost every point not only the example unused there but almost all of it is like that because one is meant to condemn sinners and hold them guilty
“the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
That had to be first and then the other came forth the gospel which is meant to call sinners to repentance having their sins remitted
“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
Luke 24:45-47 KJV
see it isn’t the law that’s making the world guilty that’s preached but the gospel that came after meant to call to repentance and offer remission of sins that the law holds against man
the law of Moses is part of a plan it’s the first part that led mankind to the savior and need for him
consider forminstance the law of marriage Moses makes divorce a free option if a man is unhappy with his wife Jesus is asked about this and explains Moses was giving the law to people with hard sinful hearts and he doesn’t teach the same thing to Gods children
“The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
Matthew 19:3, 7-9
Jesus is teaching Gods children Moses was teaching hard hearted rebels who never would repent and obey Sonora dofferent get divorced to keep the peace v don’t get divorced unless one of you cheats and defiles the marriage otherwise divorce is not acceptable like Moses taught nor remarriage as Moses taught
Jesus spends a lot of time correcting Moses words it’s one of the reasons israel denied him they were blinded by the veil of Moses words in the law
“and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.”
2 Corinthians 3:13-15 KJV
Moses Testament isn’t for us it’s a witness of Jesus and the gospel which is for us it’s contrary so much so that the meeting of the apostles called it a hindrance to faith and commanded that it is Not our doctrine
“But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
…Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
….Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: but that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
……forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:”
Acts 15:5-6, 10, 19-20, 24 KJV
It’s really a different Testament a new one
