The shadows and types talked about in Heb 8. were given to help mankind understand what is happening in heaven.
The blood of animals cannot save anyone.
They were added because of sin until Christ came. Gal 3:19.
A better sacrifice, which is able to make us perfect was given in Christ.
Did the moral law disappear at the cross too?
Murder, adultery, stealing, lying, coverting, not honoring you parrents are pointed out as sin. Are they any less sin today as they were in King David's day or Moses' day or in Noah's day?
What about the first 4 commandments, about worshiping and honoring our Lord?
They still point out sin today.
True ..we are no longer under the ceremonial laws.
Christ is the better sacrifice and the better priest, etc.
There is still a sanctuary in Heaven.
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
Verse 5 ...pattern of heavenly things.
Jesus is ministering in the heavenly sanctuary.
What was faulty about the 10 commandments?
the fault wasn’t with the law it was the people the law was given to that had the fault and flaws
“For
finding fault with them, ( the people ) he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, When
I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers In the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; Because they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.”
Hebrews 8:8-9 KJV
the law is not for a born again person it’s for the sinner
“knowing this, that
the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be
any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
1 Timothy 1:9-10 KJV
You tell someone who is driven to steal “ you must not steal “ you tell someone driven to kill , “ you must not kill “ you tell an adulterer “ you must not commit adultery “ the reason you have to tell them is because they don’t know what they are doing is sinful so you then give them an explaination of what’s sinful sometimes can understand thier guilt
“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:19-20 KJV
the gospel is. NOt made for that purpose it’s made for this purpose now that the sinner knows they are a sinner and condemned to death
“and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
Luke 24:46-47 KJV
now the sinner who knows I’m also a sinner and I’m also condemned by Gods law now thier getting a message of repentance and remission of those sins that have condemned them that the law made known tonthier conscience now your offering that person pardon from thier acknowledged guilt
the pet that makes us understand “this is sin “ is “ Thou shalt not do this , thou shalt not do that “ or you will surely be put to death “
the Old Testament is for sinners without any understanding of spiritual things without Christs companionship by his spirit in Christian’s because of this the doctrine is different
you don’t teach a new born child as if they are an inmate in a maximum security prison as if they have no hope and if they make mistakes their dead this isn’t the gospel it’s the law and it’s essential knowledge to bring a person to thier true need for Jesus and the gospel
the “ moral” law is not “ don’t kill anyone “ it’s treat others with love “
if you follow what Jesus taught how he taught us to treat one another you won’t kill anyone ever you won’t hate or have any notice to ever kill or commit violence against anyone . But being told don’t kill isn’t going to cause this to happen we have to accept the things Jesus said about morality and behavior towards others and then we aren’t going to be breaking laws like “ killing lying stealing commiting adultery ect
we don’t need the old if we understand we’ve sinned and need Jesus at that point we need to become disciples of Jesus and leave behind the law made for unrepentant sinners without Gods spirit , without any real atonement and under a fleshly sinful priesthood the laws can’t save
if I don’t kill and lie to people I’m still. Ot doing Gods Will , I’m just resisting satans Will
to know what God wants of me I have to stop looking at what “I must not do “ and start coming into Christ and his teachings and doctrine
once I’m there I’m. It going to be killing lying stealing cheating so no one then needs to teach me not to kill lie and cheat I already died to those things in Christ it’s now irrelevant because my eyes are on Jesus d I understand he’s my lord and his word is life
Moses was never sent for the purpose Jesus came for the law is like a prerequisite of the gospel once your in the gospel the prerequisite is left behind you because it actually provokes sinners to sin
“For
when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
But
now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.”
Romans 7:5-6
Trying to seperate any of Moses words from any of his others words isn’t proper the law saying “ Thou shalt not “ is what gives the knowledge of sin not the ordinances or anything it’s the actual commandments that exclaim “ Thou shalt not “
the whole law works together to. BRing us to the understanding of sin and death
it works like this the commandment
“
Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
Exodus 20:14 KJV
The consequences of breaking it
“And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife,
the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”
Leviticus 20:10
“thou shalt not sin , you will surely be put to death “
That’s what you tell sinners to teach them a lesson about sin and it’s consequences. It’s useful and helpful always but we have no part in keeping Moses words we follow Christ and learn from him the gospel is what we need to believe if we are learning from Jesus about salvstion and eternal
Life repentance and upright living treating others as Jesus commanded us to treat others
We aren’t going to be commiting sin against each other which is what the law says not to do so following Jesus is how one keeps the law of we follow Jesus we’re not going to be murdering , cheating and lying and swindling if we’re still doing those things then we still are under the law and need to repent and believe the gospel
