There is a resurrection of the dead coming. Yes, dead people coming back to life. Those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgement.
John 5:28-29
Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment.
God (Jesus) will reward each person according to their (in bold)
Romans 2:6-8
God “will repay each one according to his deeds.” To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger.
Jesus will even judge men's secrets
Romans 2:16
on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Christ Jesus, as proclaimed by my gospel.
It is also true that when we inevitably sin, we become slaves to sin.
John 8:34 Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
I was there too, I had a bad porn addiction, multiple times a day and asking God to forgive me yet still doing it. When we are slaves to sin, it is like how a wife is subject to her husband, obeying its desires. It is sin in you doing it.
Romans 7:15-17
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good. In that case, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
Sound familiar?
Good news is that sin does not have to reign over us because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was tortured and died to save us from our sins which lead to death, and rose again in three days alive forevermore, holding with Him the keys of death and hades. When someone dies, their spouse is free to remarry. In a similar way, when we die, we become freed from the law and thus sin.
Romans 7:2 For instance, a married woman is bound by law to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.
Romans 7:4 Therefore, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
Romans 6:7 For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
So we must die then. This is how we die without being lost
Romans 6:3-7
Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
I will add, from what I have seen, real repentance is key to a real baptism. It is the difference between coming out of baptism a new person or the same person.
Note what is conjoined here
Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, even though a man named Cornelius received the Holy Spirit apparently before his baptism in Acts 10, Paul baptized and laid hands on disciples before they received the Holy Spirit. I think it shows that it's probably a good idea to have hands laid on you by disciple of Jesus with faith in prayer after baptism.
Acts 19:5-6
On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
I got baptized in 2014 while experiencing something horrible and after repenting. Since then I had sex with my ex
once in 2015 and did not really enjoy it. No sex, masturbation, drunkenness, watching mma, etc. Is that something you'd be interested in? Yes I have messed up since then with anger for example but I repented and can see
improvement imo (unlike with porn where I seemed to be getting worse), and yes I am still in a war with satan so it is not always a bed of roses, but God is faithful and
So merciful. No I am not boasting, because it is only by God through Jesus Christ that I am able to bear any useful fruit.
It sounds like you believe the Gospel. In addition to freedom from sins, when we believe Jesus Christ there is forgiveness for sins through His Name.
Acts 10:43
All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”
Romans 10:9-10
that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.
Matthew 10:32-33
Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.
But we also
must forgive or we will not be forgiven (Matthew 6:15).
In addition to all of this, walk according to the Spirit. When we are freed from sins, we can walk according to the Spirit, yet we can choose to sow to please the flesh. If we sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit we will reap (in bold)
Galatians 6:8
The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Amen.
