Armies like the Russian and Ukrainians and even NATO and the US are blank mindless numbers to many people.
But to those who know its always referred to as a dinosaur euphemistic model of "tooth to tail" ratios.
"Tooth" are the guys who pull triggers, set traps and generally expend the munitions.
"Tail" are the guys who do logistics or maintenence mechanics or medical staff or food.
Tooth to tail ratios are different for each section of the military. Airforce might be very high tail to tooth....6 tail to one tooth. Infantry are 5 tooth to one tail. Maybe higher.
Russian armies are the highest teeth to tail....but that is very exploitable. Meaning that protracted wars are going to be extremely problematic for them. No supplies, no medical treatment, no food. But most importantly very very limited maintenance repairs for things like tanks or APCs.
Meaning that the army tends to treat equipment like its disposable. Launchers that fail on the 6th rocket tend to get ignored until only 2 rockets ever fire out of the thing and you are almost out of rockets....then it gets abandoned as well as whatever munitions are left.
So....Ukraine had picked up a bunch of tanks from their Fall Offensive and Russians abandoned tons of equipment pieces (tanks, trucks, missile batteries and etc) that all needed some sort of repair.
Now if Ukraine can cobble together enough Russian tanks &etc and have new equipment from NATO....they have a chance at holding the line from whatever line they decide is feasible.
Russia can claim victory and Ukraine can claim that a mouse has defeated a Bear.
However.....
Ukraine will likely be completely invited to NATO as a full member. Which is against Russian LAW....causing yet another round of Russian aggression. Or....maybe Russia will change their Law and learn to get along....but they never have in the past and still consider Poland and Slovakia "Russian territory " just like they do Ukraine.
Dunno what is coming....but this is far far from over. And considering that we have an election coming and Joe's numbers are in the dirt....I don't see this going well.
