The first [what] obsolete?

COVENANT obsolete.

A covenant is not...

You even acknowledge that there is still a...
The LAW is encompassed within the COVENANT, not the other way around. Read Exodus carefully...

19:5 Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession.

24:7-8
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the Lord has said; we will obey.” Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

As the old covenant has been superseded by a new and better covenant, the laws encompassed within the old have been rendered null and void for those people who under the new covenant. The old is fulfilled, and nothing remains owing on it. The "mortgage" is paid off.

You gain nothing whatsoever of value by adhering to the laws of the old covenant. You cannot adhere to them all (it's impossible!) and as both Paul and James tell you, unless you abide by the whole law, you are guilty. As Paul wrote, who has bewitched you?

COVENANT obsolete.

The first covenant was based on the law. A person tried to keep all the law's requirements, but it was impossible to do so, so a sacrifice was required.

The second covenant is based on grace. There was one sacrifice that paid for all sin by the only person who kep the OT law perfectly: Jesus Christ.

The first covenant was thereby made obsolete.

Romans 7:1-6, "Or do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only during that person’s lifetime? Thus a married woman is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives, but if her husband dies, she is discharged from the law concerning the husband. Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she belongs to another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she belongs to another man, she is not an adulteress.

In the same way, my brothers and sisters, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we are enslaved in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the written code."

If you try to keep the OT law you are not a Christian.

I believe that those that walked with GOD from the beginning walked in what was written in the 10 Commandments.

I believe the reason they were written in stone with GOD's own finger was because of transgression because you cannot trust an unregenerated nation to obey from the heart those things.

Do you believe Abraham stoned people to death for picking up sticks to make a fire on the Sabbath?

Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

Yes. Do you believe that we are free from the law of sin and death when we become a new creation in Christ?

Christians are not under OT law! In regard to the Sabbath, Jesus clearly demonstrated that it is good (and sometimes necessary) to do "work" on the Sabbath, such as healing people, eating "forbidden" food, freeing a trapped animal, etc. The "righteous" Pharisees jumped all over Him, including planning to kill Him, because they didn't understand the principle.

The first covenant was based on the law. A person tried to keep all the law's requirements, but it was impossible to do so, so a sacrifice was required.
Inverting this order, one can see how Jesus collapsed the old into itself. The second covenant is based on the sacrifice of the most perfect lamb without even the scent of impurity upon Him. The first' sacrifices were only near perfect and so were powerless to save.
So, if we compared as follows:
The first covenant was based on the law. A person tried to keep all the law's requirements, but it was impossible to do so, so a sacrifice was required.
The second covenant is based on the perfection of the sacrifice of Christ. Christ met the covenant' requirement of perfection, as it is impossible for Him to sin, but it is possible to not fully trust that, so faith (in the person of Jesus) is required.

Jesus was under the Law of Moses in that He was born a Jew and had not yet died on the cross. At the same time, He exercised His perfect right to "bend"/"override" some of those laws in certain situations. (like healing people on the Sabbath)

The ministry of Jesus was an "overlap" of OT and NT 'law' - He "followed" both (at the same time) in proper respect of/to the Father.
Its not possible to obey Jesus and Moses thier words are contrary

Jesus was under the law until he was baptized and received the holy spirit and began speaking Gods Word at that point he is the law giver and is under no authority but the spirit of God in him

I've heard other sincere believers say that since Jesus kept the Laws of Moses we should keep them or at least try and somehow that is following Him. Is this what Jesus was talking about in these passages?

Mathew 5:17-20 Jesus said, Do not think that I came to destroy the law and the prophets. No , I have not come to destroy them , but to fulfil them... whoever breaks the least of these commandment , and teaches men so, he will be called the least in the kingdom....

Mathew 5 verse 20 For I(JESUS) say to you, unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the scribes and the pharisees, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

In verse 17, Jesus said we're teach and do the law of Moses to be great in the kingdom and in verse 20 Jesus said unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the Law you'll in no case enter the kingdom of heaven.
Are we to do both, keep the Law of Moses like Jesus, and keep Jesus words in red . Would that be exceeding the scribes and pharisees rightousness?
Christ explained the new covenant in the fifth chapter of Matthew.

'The chapter starts by explaining everything the Father told us, including laws, is not changed by him. The rest of the chapter explains how the literal, fleshly law is true but is completed by Christ. It is still true we are not to murder, but the spirit of that law is not to harm others. It is true we are not to commit adultery or use God's name in vain, but Christ explains these laws in the spirit of the Lord.

God the Father is truth, scripture is truth. The ten commandments are scripture. They give in law in the flesh, written in everlastings material stone. Christ gave us that same law, but not in material stone but in our hearts, in the spirit of the Lord.

I believe the two tablets of stone which were in the Ark of the Covenant are now in Heaven (within the Ark).

Since Jesus gave the words to Moses to write down, how could they be "contrary" to Him"? The Old Covenant was given for a specific time and purpose.
Jesus was under the law until he was baptized
Jesus was strictly under the Law until the day of His crucifixion and death. Not the day of His baptism. Indeed He died as the final Passover Lamb on Nisan 14 AD 30.

“Since Jesus gave the words to Moses to write down, how could they be "contrary" to Him"?

I can’t remember how many times I’ve quoted this to you but you have t yet grasped what it means

“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;

and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one,

but God is one.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Old Testament is ordained by angels d thier dispostion shapes it this dispostion shapes the law not Jesus love for you but this is what offered the law this dispostion and intent

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your not able to acknolwedge this part

“This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and sacrifices By the space of forty years in the wilderness? Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, Figures which ye made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon. who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭7:38, 41-43, 53‬ ‭KJV‬‬

so you then can’t see that this is opposite

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: ( Moses law )

but I say unto you, ( jesus word a co teary instruction ) That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But because you are convinced Jesus gave Moses the law you can’t grasp it even though the gospel says plainly Moses gave the law

“For the law was given by Moses,

but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we get the foundational understanding wrong it’s like a link in a chain broken you need to acknowledge that The angels ordained the law and Moses mediated it

“This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai”

Jesus isn’t an angel

“it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. “

the gospel isn’t the unforgiving disposition of the angels it isn’t Moses intercession mediation and judgements ( ordained of angels given to a mediator not of one )

“a mediator is not a mediator of one,

but God is one.”

it’s coming from God the father son and holy spirit ( but God is one )

You always tend to stick with what you already thought but I’m not sure how a person like you who understands a lot of things perfectly well I’ve even learned a few things reading your posts

i don’t know how you don’t understand that this ( coming from the ordination of an unforgiving angel , to an imperfect mediator who orders death on a regular basis of the people for sin )

“And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Im not sure how you can’t understand that’s not the gospel nd that’s not Jesus word.

Jesus was to speak the New Testament
It’s not the law of Moses it’s not even for the same intent cannot do the same thing and doesn’t offer the same promises because Jesus is much greater than any angel

sits just a matter of accepting what you already have seen is there and allowing your mind to accept what that is

Moses gave the law it came from Gods authority given to the unforgiving angel

This isnt Jesus telling Moses this

“And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:32, 35-36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s the angel “ beware of him , he will not pardon your transgression , for my name is in him “

are you saying Jesus commands that we stone one another if we pick up a stick on a sabbath day ? Or if a girl has premarital sex do we do this is this Jesus word too ? Or probably that unforgiving angel they were warned of ?

“then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭22:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

jesus commands to stone others and that’s how we deal with evil in the church ?

something you should know about Jesus he never changes that’s why you know he didn’t say those things

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He doesn’t command one thing in the ot and then change and command another how it’s different because that angels disposition is what shapes it along with Moses judgements

Jesus word is the everlasting gospel he preached after he was baptized it’s absolutely contrary to Moses law they are for two seperate purposes one is of angels and Moses the other is of God the father son and holy spirit who are one

The Old Testament is ordained by angels...
Whatever may have been the involvement of angels, one thing it crystal clear -- God (Christ) gave the Law to Moses personally. Do I need to quote extensively?

And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him. And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath said will we do. And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. (Exodus 24:2-4)

and younhavr to ack owledge what the apostles understood and are teaching us about the law of Moses you don’t need to quote anything you need to accept what is there and realize you don’t already know everything that is why you study the Bible to learn what you don’t know already , then that prove of understanding falls into place and you move on to the next

“Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

explain that statement brother

and also you aren’t understanding what I’m even saying to argue with it brother

i am not saying in any way that the law wasn’t Gods plan or design or word. I’m not saying the law is bad or not holy and good.

What I’m saying is that part of the plan requires mankind to be made guilty and aware of their sins, because the law is for this purpose not to forgive or redeem

But this it’s purpose

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:19-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Because the law is to make sinners guilty without excuse Gods design is for this angel to rule the people and for Moses judge the people the ordination is different

That is not Jesus Christ That’s the ordination of angels over a law not meant to save mankind but to hold mankind guilty

and because Jesus is contrary to that angel , he freely forgives people o repent and ask him for mercy that’s the core of his bieng Love and forgivness , mercy towards mankind ,

because this is absolutely true

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Past present and future Jesus will forgive a sinner who repents the old testsment is all veiled by the dispostion of those angels who ruled the people that’s why the law is like this

The commandment of what not to do ( sin )

Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the punitive element for the law breaker

“And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭20:10‬ ‭

the laws dispostion coming from the governing angel is always this because it’s not Jesus

“And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭19:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭25:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

don’t you see that’s why they were warned of this angel ? And it’s his disposition shaping it ?

Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name ( authority over you ) is in him.”

Do you see how the law doesn’t allow for the gospel to be applied ? If I’m commanded to kill the sinner I’m going to think this which is the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord is a heresy

this contrary doctrine and spirit is why they hated Jesus

“they say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

…..When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? ( Moses certainly did in the law as you read but don’t seem to believe )

She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: ( the law does ) go, and sin no more.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:4-5, 10-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Brother consider God gave the law I agree

show he did that was et an angel with a unforgiving disposition over the people after they worshipped the cAlf at Sinai this was to the intent the people would be made aware of thier sins and held guilty without excuse or escape

It was just like this guy under Moses and that angel for everyone there was no intervention by Jesus to save the sinner ot was the angel who was lord over them commanding Moses by Gods design So you don’t hear Jesus instead it’s this

“And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭15:35-36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God gave them over to worshipping angels because they worshipped false gods the ordination is that different whicch makes the word that contrary

This year the days fall the same with Wednesday being the Passover preparation day.
Wednesday April 5 is Nisan 14. That would be crucifixion day when the Passover Lamb is sacrificed. Passover is that evening. Thursday Nisan 15 starts after sunset. They would eat the Passover Lamb and finish before morning.
Thursday April 6 is the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread which lasts for 7 days. The first day is a high Sabbath and no work can be done.
Saturday April 8 is the weekly Sabbath.
Sunday April 9 is the Feast of First Fruits. According to what some have pointed out. the Feast of First Fruits falls on the first day of the week after the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It is always on a Sunday or the first day of the week.
The Feast of Unleavened Bread lasts 7 days and would end on the following Wednesday April 12 which is another high Sabbath day one week after the crucifixion.

Yes. Do you believe that we are free from the law of sin and death when we become a new creation in Christ?

No. The law of sin and death is not the law of Moses.

Those who are in Christ and walk according to the flesh are still under the law of sin and death.

Those who are in Christ and walk according to the Spirit, are free from the law of sin and death.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1-2
