Jesus was God's chosen one, begotten upon Mary, to bring God's will to bear in delivery of the gospel that is the vehicle of his grace. Jesus was God. To everyone else he appeared as a man.
And yes, denial of Jesus ministry referring to the elect of God has been refuted.
The Bible refutes the argument made that insists Jesus did not mean what he said all through his ministry.
The New Testament refers often to God's chosen ones.

The church is God's chosen, elect, Ephesians 1:4
Insisting God is passively chosen by us and is not actively the one who chooses is in fact contrary to all passages that refer to the foreknowledge of God. Which of course we know is coincides with prophecy throughout the Bible.
1 Peter 1 is a great read. So is 1 Thessalonians 1
Acts 13
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.
Everything from the beginning is as God willed and for his purpose.
Gentiles are the other sheep Jesus referred to and that he said he must bring into his fold.
I don't know how those of us who are the elected ones of God can insist it isn't true.
