He couldn't know. To know that he would already have had to been born again. As of the unborn-again, God's
laws weren't placed into his mind.
so are you saying no one was born again in the OT?

please say it isnt so..

op: Once Saved Always Saved?
Absolutely Confirmed in 144 Passages, probably just for me (and a few others?):

God's OPERATION On all HIS New-born babes In Christ
+
God's Eternal Assurance
======================
Now that it seems to be Off topic, where does this 'fit' into the new topic:
'Calvinism' = "predestined to salvation or damnation(?)"?:
Rom 8:29 "For whom He Did Foreknow, He Also Did Predestinate
To Be Conformed To The Image Of His SON, that He might be the
Firstborn among many brethren."

I prefer Bible rather than Calvin. Amen. oops - OFF topic

Grace, Peace, And JOY In Christ, And In His Word Of Truth, Rightly
Divided
(+ I and II)!

RICH Blessings!

I was not talking about him, I was talking about anyone in the OT?

Paul told Timothy he had knowledge as a child to be saved.. There was no NT written yet.
I was talking about Nicodemus when I said he wasn't yet born again - that is why he didn't understand.

People were born again in the OT, but not many - usually just the prophets and men of God.

Timothy was saved, and by/from that, was given knowledge. From whom? From the Holy Spirit

[2Ti 3:14 KJV]
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them];

So all those people in the OT were not born again? Where are they then? In Hades?

Exactly. He should have because he was a master of Israel but he didn't. Why? Because he wasn't yet born again.
Which is why jesus explained it to him

You have half of a conversation between jesus and nicodemus as meaningless. And nothing Nicodemus should have even considered.

If jesus said he should have known as a master of israel. Then I trust Jesus to understand he should have known. Period.. I am not going to add something that was not said to Jesus conversation.

so now you have flipped. It is not God who makes us righteous????
Those saved are made righteous through/because of Christ's faith, not theirs. Theirs comes FROM being born again. It does not make
them born again. Belief doesn't lead to eternal life, eternal life leads to belief. As cv5 posted:

[Act 13:48 KJV]
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Thats not what Jesus said

whoever believes shall never die but has eternal life

You keep ignoring Jesus words in John 3..

Election is based on forknowledge.

It is the will of the father that whoever sees and believes will never die (john 6)

Anyone not justified by Christ is judged accordingly - OT or NT. You don't know that?
Everyone nig saved will be judged by the works. And be found wanting. Because they have not believed..

you said maybe a few prophets in the OT were born again

if your not born again, your lost. And headed to hell. There is no hope for you after you die..

@rogerg when you redX a stated truth. All it does is go to hurt your own cause.. instead of red zing, why not describe what jesus told nicodemus AFTER he told him he should know

you keep telling me I am wrong. But you have yet to walk through John 3 with us yet.. feel free to show how you are right.

That's right. The unsaved. People who rejected the gospel.

In the Calvinist understanding? You're absolutely right!

No, it's false. God wants everyone to be saved.

If you'd realize it's a false doctrine you wouldn't have to wonder anymore.

No it isn't. God wants everyone to be saved. He gave us free will. All people have the capacity and ability to choose to believe the gospel.

But they could be. God even wanted the Pharisees to believe, and to be baptized by JtB..

Luke 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

yep.
None of this is supported by scripture in its proper context.

So, you're saying Acts 13:48 is wrong? That those ordained to eternal life will believe.
Those who believe will never die because they had been ordained to eternal life and therefore believe.
No one can see or believe unless it was given to them. They cannot do so on their own.

Oh my! I already did that - you are just unable to comprehend it. I'm not going to teach chapter 3 to you.
