because he struck the rock twice rather than speak to the rock as God told him , if you willing

“And there was no water for the congregation: and they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron…….( the people complain against them ) And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭20:2, 6-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

and so

“And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea, and the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar. And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither. So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭34:1-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Several correlating and relevant other verses but you see Moses disobeyed Gods command and sin is death. Because of this ordination Moses wasn’t pardoned for that

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions:

for my name is in him.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭23:20-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the law is Gods word , but it’s coming through the angels like at the burning bush

“And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Or like the unforgiving angel that led then through the desert and wouldn’t even forgive Moses one frustration and disobedience God said “ speak to the rock “ and Moses “ struck the rock twice “ and the angel who had rule over those people would not pardon anyone’s transgression it’s why every sinner under Moses law died and didn’t rise up again like Jesus he never sinned but Moses had priorly killed a man before called and then after he disobeyed just the one time there the law can’t save even e mediator

disposition of no pardon because after God spoke the commandments the first said do not make images to worship and serve
Thanks for the explanation, but that's not the reason Moses died. His sin at Kadesh was the reason he was not allowed to go into the promised land.

He was without sin.

Yes, except for the sin nature all the rest of us got from Adam.
Okay, so you dont believe he was like you in every way.
He was born of a Woman; the Son of David after the flesh

1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh

You have a different Messiah/ Gospel...Sadly, I know where yours comes from.

Good chatting.

“Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.”
‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭4:11, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elijah : who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:29-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭11:4‬ ‭
Could very well be. Elijah for sure because it has been stated that he will one day return.

As a side, other than his sin, the second reason he could no longer go in and out of the tent of meeting was God told him he could no longer do so...if you were thinking it was due to his age you would be wrong! Moses was burning with desire to take them over and pleaded with God many times to do so.
This sums up the actual intent and nature of those passages and that particular Hebraistic saying:

Deu 31:2
And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

Jos 14:11
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

Jos 23:1
And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.
Jos 23:2
And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Moses sinned also was the point that’s why Moses died, I thought you might want to learn something new that’s written the Bible that you didn’t know because you said it wasn’t there was all that’s the only reason I quoted what Moses had done and showed you that part some think Moses never sinned , most already understand sin is death

Good post.

Correct, instead of only speaking to the rock as commanded, he smites it with his rod; instead of giving the praise exclusively to
Yahweh, he includes himself and Aaron in his statement to the people. In consequence, he is denied entrance to the land.

Here are all the references Num 27:14; Deut 1:37; 3:23-26; 32:51; 33:8;
Psa. 78:15; 81:7; 95:8; 105:41; 106:32-33; 114:8; Neh. 9:15; Isa. 48:21; Hos. 13:5; 1 Cor. 10:11.

Enjoy!

I do not believe that Moses never sinned.
That’s why he died was a pretty simple point the Bible tells us anyone that sins must die

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It was just a Simple point you were asked about why loses died , you said e Bible doesn’t tell us , I said here’s why moses sinned and wasn’t forgiven because of the law

basic right ? Moses died because he disobeyed God under the law Jesus never sinned under the law and so he rose up from death unlike Moses

It's because of sin that we ALL die. But the Bible does not tell us the reason that Moses died when and where he did.

One thing is sure, God did not kill him, as F2F seems to believe.

Agreed.

Agreed.

..not sure where you get that idea.

...

??? How did Moses see his death? We ALL know death is coming (unless Christ returns while we're alive..).
Moses was told he would not pass over - what did you think that meant?

His Father is God. There's a reason for that.

On his mother's side...
That's funny!
Jesus was raised up out of sinners but you say he was nothing like them.

Here is another verse!

Rom 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh

How could God condemn sin in the flesh of His Son if it wasn't represented in him? (that's a hard question BTW!)

Let me put this another way for you...

Was Jesus condemned to die? if he lived his life out would he have died naturally like Abraham, David etc?

Yes or no?

Genesis 5:23

"And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years"

Interesting in the way God took him...Paul adds the ellipsis: "he was not found" in Heb. 11:5.

Have you noticed the importance of those words?

F2F
That verse could not POSSIBLY be more clearly defined....whether in Greek or English.
You sure are long on questions and short the answers. Bummer.

Heb 11:5
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Heb 11:5
By faith G4102 Enoch G1802 was translated G3346 that he should G1492 ➔ not G3361 see G1492 death; G2288 and G2532 was G2147 ➔ not G3756 found, G2147 because G1360 God G2316 had translated G3346 him: G846 for G1063 before G4253 his G846 translation G3331 he had this testimony, G3140 that he pleased G2100 God. Lets be clear what do you believe translated means?
Let's check we are on the same page!

Did not see death for you means he didnt die
Did not see death for me means he didnt know he was taken and that he died and was buried

It means Enoch's life was cut short unexpectedly right? You get this?

The question you should ask is why?

I think you are not seeing the point of the lesson.

He was taken away by God, so that no trace of him could be discovered. Paul states that he was "translated" or "changed" (cp. Heb. 7:12 where the same Greek word is rendered "change"). He was subjected to a change. This is not contradictory of the Scripture which teaches "in Adam all die" (1 Cor. 15:22)

I just need you to acknowledge that truth!

@cv5 I think you are placing man-made notions on the word translated to mean something the Bible is not teaching. I'm still not sure the nature of those notions but I can once again see you resisting basic Bible teaching on the subject of death. Maybe you are better explaining your concept in mind? We can only test it to see if its true or not.
