Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Yes we establish the law because the one who fulfilled the law lives inside us.... without him we cannot fulfill the law

So, after reading a great many postings (BUT, NOT ALL) would it be fair to say, if a person is not under Grace, they are under the Law?

Gal 5:4 KJV "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

Rom 3:19 KJV "Now we know that what things soever the law sayeth, it sayeth unto them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before the Lord."

I've heard other sincere believers say that since Jesus kept the Laws of Moses we should keep them or at least try and somehow that is following Him. Is this what Jesus was talking about in these passages?

Mathew 5:17-20 Jesus said, Do not think that I came to destroy the law and the prophets. No , I have not come to destroy them , but to fulfil them... whoever breaks the least of these commandment , and teaches men so, he will be called the least in the kingdom....

Mathew 5 verse 20 For I(JESUS) say to you, unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the scribes and the pharisees, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

In verse 17, Jesus said we're teach and do the law of Moses to be great in the kingdom and in verse 20 Jesus said unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the Law you'll in no case enter the kingdom of heaven.
Are we to do both, keep the Law of Moses like Jesus, and keep Jesus words in red . Would that be exceeding the scribes and pharisees rightousness?
Before Jesus died, we were under the law. After He died, we are now under His grace.

The problem is that many people overlook the fact that Jesus was a Jew under the Mosaic Law and His ministry on Earth was solely to Jews. He stated that Himself.
"Solely to the Jews?" The first converts of Christ were in fact Samaritans! And the first worshipers of Christ were Gentiles from either Persia or Arabia who traveled hundreds of miles to worship Him!

"Primarily to the Jews" would be correct, but Christ was traveling all over Palestine, and only Judea was limited to the Jews. At the same time while Christ was addressing the Jews He was also addressing the whole world. And the greatest faith He found was in a Roman centurion.

His chosen disciples were not converts???
Can you show us where it says that they were "converts"? He simply commanded them to follow Him, and they dropped everything and followed Him. Now compare that to what happened in Samaria.

Why don't you show us where it says the Samaritans were converted before anybody else, since that is your claim.

In fact the disciples are said to believe in Jesus right away, and that preceded the Samaritans doing so. Compare to:

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and
John to them. 15 On their arrival, they prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For the Holy Spirit had
not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
From Acts 8.

There must be a differing understanding of converts here. On one hand, Jesus converted fishmen into apostles and on the other, the Samaritans converted to Christianity?

Kindly read chapters 3 & 4 of the Gospel of John. The other Gospels do not mention this. And he must needs go through Samaria.

Christianity did not yet exist.

And I am still waiting for @Nehemiah6 to provide the verse that says Samaritans were the
first converts, as that was his claim, and he wants us to believe it is so based on Scripture.

Or to admit that such a verse does not exist.

Sorry for the late reply to this. Work is picking up and I can't hop on CC as I used to.

The Law is the issue that has to be dealt with in order to bring us into a right relationship with God.
The law is not and has never been the issue. This is literally the notion I'm arguing against. It may seem like a small thing but it isn't. If we read Paul's letters this way it pits the law against grace, which doesn't work on any level. And then we need to work backward (logically) to try to extrapolate the Father's reason for giving it as "well He gave the law to us to show we could never obey it."

But such a notion is literally NOWHERE in scripture. Nowhere.

The law doesn't need to be dealt with. We need to be dealt with. The blood was shed to change US from the inside-out.

Why?

Because the law remains and demands either our death or our compliance.

His blood cleans "the inside of the cup". Matthew 23:26

Know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified"
(Galatians 2:16). Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
This passage reveals that the Law cannot justify or make righteous any man in God’s sight, which is why God sent His Son to completely fulfill the requirements of the Law for all those who would ever believe in Him.
Justified means "to be made clean" or "right".

Did you know that no law ANYWHERE...from ANY government or society...has the power to make you or me "right" in the eyes of the law once we have broken it? It isn't something unique to the kingdom of Heaven. Paul didn't state a fact unique to God's law. He was introducing an immutable fact about "law" and properly applying that fact to God's law. No law can make you "right" in the eyes of the law once broken because a law is created to show us what a crime is. Its created purpose - in any government - is to show us the boundary we're not to cross. Thus the mere existence of a law (any law) doesn't (ergo) make the citizens "right"; it does nothing to affect the internal qualities and character of a person.

----

^ This is what Paul was saying. He wasn't making an argument against the law but was clarifying its true scope and purpose. So we must stop reading Paul's words as if he is. When we are found guilty of breaking a law we need to go to the judge either to pay or to be forgiven of the crime. We can't immediately start obeying the law we broke to somehow make us "right" retroactively when we're already found guilty. No law works that way. So likewise with God's law. We must get forgiveness by going to the Heavenly Judge to be made "right" once again.

----

With this said, there is another issue that arises that Paul addresses when considering God's law in particular - The corrupt/evil flesh of man.

When GOD'S LAW is necessarily introduced (i.e. necessary because every kingdom or government has a law its citizens must abide by), we IMMEDIATELY want to disobey it. Why? Because God is good and we are not (our flesh). He tells us "do not" and immediately our flesh says "then I want to more".

Thus, something ELSE was needed...apart from the NECESSARY LAW (i.e. "apart from" simply means "outside of" and does NOT mean "in replacement of")...to affect this change of internal qualities and character, otherwise people would continue to break God's law, deserve to die, break His law, deserve to die, break the law, die, sin, die, sin, die...and on and on.

And that "something else" is the glorified Spirit (Holy Spirit) and personal strength of the Son to be obedient (Grace), which we must tap into and "listen to" in order to fulfill/satisfy the immutable, necessary law of God. And when we do, we will have the power to uphold the law as righteous citizens of heaven.

God forgives us of our sins (making us "right") and then gives us the tools and strength to obey (fulfilling the law).

Before Jesus died, we were under the law. After He died, we are now under His grace.
First you have to know what grace is lol! according to the Bible:
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; let’s let the Bible speak!

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. So Apostle Paul said he would not have known lust had it not been for the law. can you you explain this it’s pretty clear. He also said this:

Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
It funny how people say things with no scripture to back it up, Roman centurion, let’s see what the Lord really said: Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
