It has been my experience in chats that as soon as 'works' are mentioned anywhere near salvation, the 'antiworks crew" comes out in droves looking for conflict.
A true christian shouldn't be afraid to take a stand for the Faith, neither be afraid when accused falsely.
Have we not been told to stand with the shield of faith & the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God?

Ephesians 2:10
English Standard Version
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Amen. Praise God, some sense on the subject is refreshing.

“There is a logical and close relationship between repentance and its fruits, but not a necessary one. “

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings:”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s not that anyone is adding anything to salvation it’s that people remove what he said about it based on other single verses they find and pluck from context

Jesus didn’t die si sinners can keep sinning and say they are saved and born again he died and rose so they could repent and be freed from the dominion of sin that is leading everyone to death

if we don’t come to repentance we’re always going to be serving satans Will in this world which is sin Jesus dying and raising up ⬆️ s not about makin an excuse for our sins it’s about taking thier doninion away so we can stop serving the devil and start living for the lord

If we serve sin it’s going to result in what he says if we repent and serve the lords will for us it’s going to lead to where he said

“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? ( is it okay for us to sin now ?) God forbid.

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;

whether of sin unto death, ( we can obey sin and die )

or of obedience unto righteousness?”( we can obey the lord and be deemed right and live )
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the end every Christian should be able to agree God has called us to stop sinning and start living upright lives that we were created for if we keep serving sin and don’t repent the warnings are all just as true as the blessings

Everything jesus did is meant to turn us fro. Serving sin and death to serving God willingly without saying “ it’s a grievance to keep these commands” he’s changing us but not if we won’t change
What does repentance mean?

Of course there's nothing wrong with a desire to turn from sin, but believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is just that. So someone believing is placing their faith in Jesus 100 percent and not any part of themselves.
I agree but it seems to me you're trying to make an issue where there is none. You're the one who is trying to remove an important part of salvation; namely, turning from sin and making Jesus Lord. If you don't see how that is part of trusting in Him 100%, then I really don't know what more to say. I get the feeling there's a broader agenda behind this; I just can't put my finger on it.

Yeah, God wants our obedience and love in serving Him. But that can only happen if we have full unconditional love and payment for our sin. We are dead in sin without Him. So any kind of reducing of sin b4 conversion is just putting perfume on a corpse.
Sounds like this point

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:8-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Which is glorious and true and should always be considered but then there’s this maturation point and tbat doesn’t change this , this adds to understanding and it shouldnt be tbat we see it as a conflicting doctrine but the same doctrine more exposed and moving into it’s effective state of operation as we let this type of thing add to the other God makes us grow up and strengthens our feeble and weak knees

at he first part is what God did for us this part is what we’re commanded to do now that that’s established

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. ( this part of the message is really really important too once we become a believer in the basics )

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-11, 13-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can’t say either is not true but one thing is meant to produce a babe a new believer in Jesus the other is for that babe to begin to learn from and grow up in some rings are milk other things are meat and solid food

we’re always able to trust that Jesus is going to save us , but we can’t also reject what he’s saying and then claim other forms of salvation either that’s just showing we actually don’t believe him

We come to poonts like this and Jesus is really gentle and able to make these thought provoking points that don’t condemn us if we’re not perfect but they also call is sternly to action with a warning and also a promise and blessing

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? ( this should touch the heart of a Christian that believes in and loves Jesus but maybe they have never really even considered what the term lord means )

Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: he is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-49‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We simply have to accept the lord and what he said is his word and it’s always going to prove true in the end no matter what we think ourselves it’s w hard thing to conclude but it’s the last hurdle for a Christian if Jesus taught us something when he was here it’s always going to prove true whether w blessing or warning it’s why he came as well as to pay for our sins and give us new breath of life

In the end simplified as we hear Jesus word we need to consider this also

“Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:21-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we convince ourselves our actions aren’t required we could become hearers only and not doers of the word and deceive ourselves into thinking we’re saved because we said we believe but then we reject what we’re told in the scriptures meant to do this

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

why is that important to Jesus our savior ?

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He doesn’t Will that anyone of us perishes but that we be saved and he knows sin is death so he’s given us the gospel and patience

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

V‬we all still have time d none is perfect but we need to change the things we know we are doing th at are sinful if we are we have to start taking it seriously our actions are really important to salvation when we become believers not really beforehand but when we convert to Christ our actions matter very much

Tracts often are not biblical

Its clear in the Bible that doesnt have 'four spiritual laws' or the apostles giving out tracts.
What happened was they told the gospel, people were convicted, they repented and believed in Jesus and got baptised.

Those who repented demonstrated fruits of repentence for specific sins they named. Eg tax collectors gave tax refunds, thieves returned goods, adulterers stopped adultering...those who had pride humbled themselves. They didnt just assent to a belief like Pharisees tried to and then continued as they were but with a new religion. John the baptised refused to baptised those who were not repentant and just wanted to become christian in name only.

Baptism (full immersion) showed that you were willing to cast your old self away and be raised to new life. Nobody would have ever said, you just have to commit yourself to Jesus. The disciples followed Jesus but many fell away, it was only when they had been baptised with the Holy spirit were they able to walk in His ways and do all the things Jesus asked them to do, because He sent his helper to them.

Note this does not make you an 'instant' christian but Gid gives grace so that we can be forgiven and work towards salvation...on Judgement Day it will be quite clear whos works or good deeds are of lasting value and whos are just hay and stubble.

I am not sure why you posted this or what you mean exactly, but "godly sorrow" precedes genuine repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:10

"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."
Paul is writing to speaking to saved people so this is not about spiritual salvation.

Paul is addressing a carnal church.

This is about temporal judgement.

So important to rightly divide!

Salvation is by faith through grace IN Christ Jesus not of works lest any man should boast, salvation is a gift.

you work it out with Jesus lol

He shows you what to do

see Phillippians 2:12

basically pray and ask Him every day to lead and guide you. Give thanks for everything even in the hard times. When he sends you the helper, allow the helper to help you! Obey him even when Hes not there (disciples knew they would need to do this when Jesus went away!)

Let us add more burdens to those coming to Christ....Father forgive us. Yes if we had a say we would turn away so many because they didn't stop sinning immediately or didn't look "genuine" like they even repented the right way.

Praise God we get no say what so ever in this. The one that made all this.. He never turns one away that comes to Him. Now right there the only reason they could come to Him is He draws them and they answered the call. See He will work with them for the rest of their life's up to 70+ years. We just can't wait for GOD to judge all this evil right? Not Him.. no all this is His grace because He loves this world for God so loved the world we don't. Some of you spoke out of your heart is what you typed. Own it...

Gotta tell somebody GOOD FEELING. Scream it from the roof tops.. He such a good GOD! Such a good GOD.. I got that good feeling kicking me out of my chair acting like I don't care....Hes a good GOD! Song..

The good news.. He came died for the worlds sin. He set you free! He didn't come to condemn but to save. He never looks in that cell saying ..you should be there.. what you did was evil wicked. NO... you see this man with holes in His hands.. HE rips the cell door off and those chains just fall to the ground. He never said your only saved unless you do.. unless you show me you truly mean it. He already came and died He already took the punishment's. You then look back.. He's in the cell He has the chains on. He did this for everyone on this planet from the start to the end.

You know theres this book in the OT talks about what we should never boast in. So many posts are just that boasting in self not that we know Him. Always something to condemn others. Always something to make you feel guilty ..guilt something Christ took to the Cross. We are speak words of life love kindness joy mercy forgiveness none stop. Love never sees faults. Love believes all things....yet talking about repent and? NOPE sorry we don't believe you.

That's ridiculous. If you consider laying down your burdens at the foot of the cross a burden then there's something seriously wrong with your thinking.

It is frightening when people who fight against what God himself has said think that they are serving or glorifying God while doing so. I am not referring to you, but to the poster whose post you quoted. Ridiculous does not even begin to cut it, and I christened my "ignore" option with the poster who disagreed that God commands all men everywhere to repent earlier today.

it's simple, it's a commitment to believe what christ was. with that naturally comes the expectation that your willing to honor his teachings. A new believer isn't likely to know what he needs to repent of right away until he reads it in scripture, it's more of a commitment than a direct action.

What does repentance mean?
Repentance is a term that’s established in scripture from genesis Six forward theres a lot to it one of the most relevant places we find it is here

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

These people were aware of thier sins because they were confessing thier sins , and repentance was that desire in th en to change those ways they knew they were commiting

repentance is a gift that comes when a person who acknolwefges their own sins to the lord because they hear the gospel about him dying for thier sins and this paying the penalty for thier sins that message of the atonement

If a sinner who has no intention of changing and who enjoys and prefers his sinful life hears the message of the gospel it’s not going to be well accepted when they hear that they need to stop sinning which is ultimately the result of repentance

repentance itself is the sinner who loves God but is fully aware “ I’m a sinner and needs forgivness or I can’t be saved in the end I need to come clean to the lord and acknolwedge all My secrets that I’m afraid to tell Him about and get those things into the light so he can take them away

When you hear the gospel meaning the things Jesus taught his followers you learn that you can’t keep living in sin but you can learn from Jesus and be set free from its bondage and dominion over you

repentance is inside of us it begins when we hear the truth and we don’t reject it

“in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

sinners don’t always know thier in a snare but as we begin to acknolwedge the truth that we can’t keep sinning we need to change and follow the things Jesus taught us to follow into life everlasting

repentance is a change of the mind and heart that is planted in us as we hear the word of Christ teaching us what to do to be approved of God in our actions we begin to totwlly change our whole perception from the law of Moses to the sermons of Jesus

its inside us but always ends at the cessation of our known and willful sin

there’s really a lot on the Bible pertaining to repentance check out genesis 6

The Greek word for "repent" is "metanoia" (noun) and "matanoeo" (verb) you see as defined in the Strongs #3340, 3341: to think differently or afterwards, reconsider. To change one's mind.

https://www.bibletools.org/index.cfm/fuseaction/Lexicon.show/ID/G3340/metanoeo.htm#:~:text=Strong's #3340: metanoeo (pronounced met-an-o-eh'-o) from 3326 and,i.e. reconsider (morally, feel compunction):--repent. Thayer's Greek Lexicon:

Repentance basically means a "change of mind" and the context must determine what is involved in this change of mind. Where salvation is in view, repentance actually precedes saving faith in Christ and is not a totally separate act from faith. It is actually the same coin with two sides. Repentance is on one side (what you change your mind about) and faith in Christ is on the positive side, the new direction of this change of mind. Repentance and faith are two sides of the same experience of receiving Christ. (Acts 20:21)

Certain people misunderstand the term "repentance" to mean "turning from sin" to the extreme which means from that moment on we live a sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, absolute perfect life, 100% of the time, yet repent does not mean sinless perfection. The word "repent" basically means to "change your mind."

The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions. Acts 26:20 declares, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds." This is the fruit of repentance (Matthew 3:8), not the essence of repentance (change of mind). I have heard certain people say, "if you want to be saved, repent of your sins, turn from your sins." If turning from your sins means to completely stop sinning, then people can only be saved if they completely stop sinning and, in that case, none of us will be saved because none of us are sinless, without fault or defect, flawless, 100% of the time. (1 John 1:8-10)
Yes, the majority of false preachers teach that the word repentance/ repent means " turn from your sins.".
I don't have to speak Greek to know that the Greek term is not derived from any word for sin. Only context tells us what the repentance is. God repented more than anyone in the Bible. God never sinned.
