Genesis 2) Adam given the breath of life, became a living soul.
(Adam would have lived forever had he not fell - see Gen 6:3 "for that he also is flesh"). Ask yourself, "also," as in whom else?
Adam did not "fall" in the sense most people think. He was NOT deceived. He basically committed suicide for Eves sake, pinning his hopes on Gods grace and mercy. A gamble that paid off.

Agreed, Adam was not deceived, but when did he pin his hopes on God? Surely not when he was hiding and not when he blamed Eve.

if he "blames" her then he is implying she deceived him, but we know he is not deceived, so he would in that case be lying to God.
and God does not respond to him as though he has lied - He says, "because you listened to the voice of your wife" - Adam communicated his motive in answering God with the facts, and that motive was for the sake of his wife.

so she said something to him. what did she say?
It was not an attempt to deceive him.
and he listened to her and acted on what she said to him.

why is he joining with her in death, then hiding with her instead of eating from the tree of life? what was he trying to accomplish, and how were the actions he took directed towards his goal?

God ultimately saves them. His answer to their sin is to reprove them, giving them sorrow, shed innocent blood to provide them with a covering, and promise to send Christ.
based on God's response, did they answer well? did they show faith in God and repentance?

He didn't blame Eve. If fact both were put on trial and confessed absolutely truthfully.
God consequently forgave and redeemed them both.

The trial ferreted out the culprit.....Satan. Only Satan was cursed/condemned. The ground was also cursed.....for Adam sake!

If this is denying responsibility it is blaming God Himself, calling God evil, because he says, "who Thou gave to be with me"

does God react as though Adam has called God evil?

Of course he answered in the affirmative. Truthfully.

Adam v 12: "and I did eat"
Eve v 13: "and I did eat"

BTW, we likewise sincerely and truthfully confess our own sin and receive our own acquittal by the same method: by being forgiven and "covered" by the Blood.

What things you mean? O like how one must understand when dealing with masculine nouns such as אָדָ֛ם the denotation in plurality
renders ם or אֶת־
No thanks.. I have what I need, have a good one.
OK man. But you look awfully young to me. Takes DECADES to get a decent bite on the infinity that is Scripture.

Adam had access but chose the tree that promised death instead, and was subsequently barred from
the Tree of Life, lest he eat of it also (not again) and live forever in his fallen sinful state. Adam was a
man of the natural world. Do not neglect to include in this equation that Jesus was purposed from
before the foundation of the world, that those who would believe by grace through faith in His shed
righteous blood could be reconciled to God and attain to life ever after, escaping the second death.

The thing is.....Adam resisted (probably effortlessly) the deceptions (probably plural) of the most powerful and wisest being of all creation.

So it is not a stretch to consider that yes, hypothetically Adam could have lived forever in a sinless state. But this we cannot ascertain with absolute certainty for obvious reasons.

People generally underrate who Adam was and his created potency.

seems to say here there was no death in the world until after sin entered the world.

i don't think that means Adam had to keep eating from the tree of life to stay ward of death while he was in the garden.


He also had access to the tree of life after he & Woman ate of the tree that effected their death - but they didn't eat from it. why not?
God later took steps to prevent them. from eating of it in the future ((why?)) - but who prevented them from eating it immediately when they realized they were dying from the other tree?
would it have helped or would it have been worse for them to eat from the tree of life in their state of uncovered, unatoned-for sin?

Yes, it does say sin and death entered the world through one man's sin. Yet it remains that
Adam did not eat from the Tree of Life, and was banished from the garden of Eden after eating
the forbidden fruit specifically to prevent him from eating from the Tree of Life.


Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil. And now,
lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...” Therefore the
LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.


Jesus was not plan B .:). Man attains to life ever after by grace through faith in Christ's shed righteous blood.

Adam was under a covenant of works. While he no doubt had experienced God's grace, he had no expectation of grace upon sinning. His expectation was death.
The idea that sin on Adam's part was in any way noble is terribly wrong. He wasn't deceived. This means he deliberately disobeyed God. This is what is being amplified and why sin is laid at his feet and not Eve's who transgressed first.
As far as whether Adam and Eve were cursed themselves or not, they certainly experienced the effects of the curses. And their actions were sufficient for Jesus to become accursed for us.

He answered "the woman You gave to be with me"

  • If this is a statement of blame, he isn't blaming her, but blaming God
    • If he's blaming God he is calling God evil, and he would be damned not saved
    • He is saved, not damned. ergo.
  • since this is not a statement of blame, it is an explanation of motive
    • God gave Woman to him
    • he is responsible for Woman
    • he acted on her behalf - "for her sake"
    • per God, he did this because he listened to what she said - and per scripture he wasn't deceived
      • so what did she say to him?
