But the tub of margarine would, in essence, still be the same as when it started, no?
No so for the butter.
The water portion of the margarine would eventually evaporate if the lid was off and you'd be left with vegetable oil and whatever other ingredients.

They're making "canola" oil margarines too. It's actually rape seed. Rape seed used to be used for machinist oil but it's been GMO'd to be resistant to glyphosate (Rouundup) and why those fields look soooo yellow when they bloom. They're grown all the way south to Fla now when they used to be in Canada solely.

It's not a good product folks. I'd encourage you not to use that stuff. Save it for a squeeky door.

Oh, and guess who patented "Canola". Bayer-Monsanto. Need I say more? Also, "Canola" is wind drift polinated. So now, every single canola field is also making a super weed. Bon Appetite.

I once harvested a whole bunch of sea snails while scuba diving somewhere off the island of Okinawa Japan. The crewdogs had a night off so a lot of them would be drinking. I fired up the grill and grilled those sea snails with a little butter and garlic. I made sure every last crewdog ate some... except for me... no way am I gonna eat snails. Nobody complained and they all got eaten.

In France they had steak tartare which is raw minced meat...um no, sending that back to be cooked!

Otherwise, snails, frogs and horse meat are regular items on the menu. They are pretty good with their veges though.

Its the British who pressure cook everything so it turns into mush. British food was so bad, that the aristocrats in England never employed British chefs, they poached their chefs from France. It wasn't until Jamie Oliver made it cool to be a chef in England. Nigella Lawson was basically Mediterranean.

Basically the main options in British food was ...mash everything up in one pot. Its called casserole, and cook it for a few hours until it turns to slop.
Irish had similar, though they called it stew and always ate it with Guinness.

The brits then discovered herbs and spices and sugar, and after that, the world was never the same. Entire countries were then enslaved to provide them with a sugar hit.

Fusion food is ...interesting

Unfortunately some fusion food will not go down well, and will cause vomitting and diarrhea to anyone unititiated or not used to it.

Mum experienced this when we were having a nice mac and cheese dinner and then my aunt turned up with her chinese broth, mum ate both and was terribly sick after that.

I recently tried escargot. It's snails. It was heavily enhanced with butter and garlic. I liked it. It tasted mostly like shrimp or squid to me.

I like to try new foods. I looked forward to trying tongue, as it's a muscle/meat. I don't think I will ever try brain, as that just seems revolting to me.

Brains and eggs is a good old southern delicacy at the breakfast table. You can actually buy a can of pork brains in pink gravy at our local grocery store. No I'm not kidding.

Fish heads are good.

I eat all crustaceans except the shells of the really spiky ones.

Last year, I was watching an episode of Chef Jacques Pepin's cooking show for his take on Thanksgiving turkey. I really didn't retain much from it though, except when he took out the bag of gibblets and set aside the "leevaire" saying, "zis is for zhe chef.. an' I weel shew yew 'ow to 'prepaer eet lataire..." and that kept me interested, and I followed his instructions for that exactly.
Those couple of bites were sooo delicious.
