Prophets are called to correct the church, rebuke leaders for teaching false doctrine. They hear directly from the Lord, and speak what He says.

```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
All of us are called to do that.
We are all called to rebuke pastors and leader for false teaching?
Except hear directly from the Lord. Have any scripture on that?
Because if it isnt in line with scripture we reject it. If it is in line with scripture than we already have it.
I will give you two references of prophets told to write down or speak what they have heard one O.T. reference, and one N.T. reference. however I know you will just reject it saying that those were biblical prophets not applicable to us today.
Ezekiel 33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
There are plenty more these are just a few one from each testament
And in these last days He has spoken to us through His dear son
Then prophets with the apostles and layed the foundation.
No more foundation needed folks. No more prophets.
No i dont reject it at all. At that time they did have a purpose.
And it was fulfilled. Now we read the bible and those prophets
are perfecting us, teach us how to do ministry and edify us.....
The bible doesnt specify who does the rebuking but it sure doesnt say
a prophet does
The doctrine of the foundation being laid meaning that there are no more manifestations of the Holy Spirit or prophecys is FALSE. No where in the Bible did Jesus ever say that when the foundation was laid that none of the building would include the works of the Holy Spirit in tongues and interpretation and prophecy. Why is it so hard to believe the building itself is made with God's hands and His Spirit's works? No where in the Bible does it say that the Holy Spirit baptism or prophecies where only part of the foundation. That is a False doctrine. The works of the Holy Spirit are part of the building, not just the foundation.
Abiding if the shoe is too big should we shrink it? what if it is too small should we expand it?
Or perhaps we should go on a diet and make ourselves smaller or bigger to fit into the shoe?
do you put new wine in old wine skins? why or why not?
If there was a Prophet...what purpose would he serve?
Well I HOPE he would warn people of the coming judgement which seems to be getting closer all the time! Bear in mind I was trying to say in my latter examples that we need that kind of a prophet, not that we will necessarily get them, outside of the two that we are going to get as described in Revelations. Yes, I know God could simply say "Look, it's all spelled out in the Bible, just read it already!" but it's also not like a lot of the prophets warning of the fall of Israel/Judah weren't also reiterating the curses spelled out by Moses. Also ... and I don't know why I just thought of it, but remember that there were certain things that John was told not to write of in revelations? Perhaps those things might be what a prophet would speak of?
I'm not sure what purpose this hypothetical prophet would serve though. I just know we are in sore need of one, someone to speak the Word of the Lord to us in a time when it seems the Devil is controlling this sad planet more and more. And I know that pretty much everyone out there calling themselves a prophet ... ain't. But like I also said, I can't rule out the idea that the Lord doesn't have someone out there somewhere speaking the Word of the Lord to people and places that desperately need it, as opposed to just playing cut-and-paste with the Bible and passing themselves off as a prophet or apostle.
nope we are having eggrolls today lol reminds me i have to get off the computer and make them ;)
Well, I still have't decided if I'm going for chicken or ribs yet.
Ya its nice we were told of the ones in revelation. In advance. And the rest is the job of the whole church.
And i believe we are getting the job done. The word is being spread. People are hearing the good news.
