I think that this verse has some relevance in regard to Israel...

John 21:43 (ESV)
43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people producing its fruits.

There are a number of geopolitical reasons to support Israel. They are the lone democracy in the Middle East and are a great source of intelligence.
Giving the Father 1st place, we are commanded to bless them and warned of the consequences.:)(y)

That seems to be the most common understanding. But the new covenant wasn't made to a nation, but to individuals from all nations. Further, entrance into the covenant isn't by physical descendency, but by spiritual birth.
I wondered this earlier in relation to all this... when God said to Abram:

"I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great,
so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who
curse you; and all the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”

As Christians, we do understand the great blessings that come through Christ,
and how magnificent and wondrous His love for us is as shown through Jesus.

But are we also to assume that this blessing to Abraham (and Israel) no longer applies to them as a physical nation/peoples?

My Bible says He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, I will go with that.
His Chosen Ones are still under the covenant, although they may all turn to Christ
in completion very soon, please keep in prayer, seeing more and more power increasing in prayer.

Some do propose that Jesus is an antitype of the nation of Israel... j/s.

This is a common view, but spiritual Israel are the redeemed. Israel itself doesn't number as the stars in the sky or the sands on the shore. God's promises to Abraham always included Gentiles.

It's a complicated question. But not because the answer is difficult, but because of so much false teaching that has been accepted. The answer is throughout the Bible, but I'm not willing to reason it out here.

Descendants are still being added:giggle:(y)
Holy Spirit keeps confirming rapture is very near, and this is indeed the Ezekiel 38 war.
As He continues His plan of redeeming His creation after the fall in Genesis a great many prophesied events can occur seemingly overnight, other times a greater span of time takes place, keeping in mind that He has given us dominion, obligating Himself to limit Himself to what we invite Him into, and we seem to be slackers.:)(y)best wishes

Well, so it is still Gods folk. And they, a part of them, will turn to Christ. And Jesus will rule in Jerusalem as their King. Thats what the bible says.

True. But they won't be redeemed as a Jew, but as a new creation in Christ. And Jesus has already received all authority and power. He is already ruling and reigning.

The way I understand it is that the promise was always about Jesus. He fulfills all the promises to Abraham.
Out of the nation there was only a remnant of faithfull at any given time. From the half that was killed at the foot of Mt. Sinai, to the entire body sent back into the wilderness to never enter the land, to the rebellion of Corah to any number of them sent into numerous exiles and the tribe of Benjamin nearly destroyed. To the division of the kingdom and the basically decimation of those tribes through intermarriage with non jewish tribes. It seems only a comparitively small trickle of them through out the ages were ever preserved.
Now its about Jesus alone, because many of them rejected Christ.
Im not saying that they are excluded from the gospel many are saved by faith in Christ.

I suppose that natural Israel's conversion will be much like that of Saul's, although I really don't see them currently persecuting Christians in any way as Saul did.

I would not be shure. The promisses of the OT about the future of Israel are still not fulfilled. Ore would you say they are not true?
That ruling of Jesus at present is not to see for us. Jesus is not here on earth and we can see Him from face to face, right?
But the time will come and he will rule from his temple in Jerusalem. So that people can see Him from face to face.

So if we say as an follower of Christ we should not support Israel, because they are the enemy of God. We should notice that Israel through all the centurys is still under the protection of God. I would then prefer to stand side by Israel then to the other side.

I have never called Israel an enemy of God. My contention is that God is no longer dealing with Israel, or any other nation, as a singular entity. There is no old covenant any longer. If the old has passed, and God cannot lie, it necessarily follows that what was promised has been fulfilled.
The prevailing teaching over the last 150 to 200 years has been contrary to this. And when people are taught certain understandings by a trusted source, whether it be religious or otherwise, it is difficult to wrestle the understandings loose, even with truth.
I rarely speak to eschatological issues on this site, for the reason given. But ask yourself this: given the incredibly vast difference between the two covenants, why would anyone desire the old?

This is true, but some still despise Christians, and show this contempt by spitting at them.
