It just isn't good etiquette to wrinkle your nose at another's food. There is a biblical advisory against this.

1Corinthians 10
All to God’s Glory
(1 Peter 4:1–11)

23“Everything is permissible,”d but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying. 24No one should seek his own good, but the good of others.

25Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, 26for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”e

27If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat anything set before you without raising questions of conscience.

1 Peter 4
7The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so that you can pray. 8Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.c 9Show hospitality to one another without complaining.
This thread was started in a light-hearted manner, as a joke. I haven't seen anybody do any serious nose wrinkling yet.

I don't do anything special. I just take ground beef, mix in a chopped onion and an egg and then put it in a loaf pan and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. I don't even add salt or pepper but it still has plenty of flavor.
Hmm, yes... Good idea! Let's all trade favorite meatloaf recipes.

My mother likes to use shredded carrots in her meatloaf, for some reason. I'm not a big fan. It's okay, but it's okay in spite of the carrots.

The thread just made me think of this. Though I know by experience that this isn't easy to do having been invited to a vegan supper that looked very good but was, to my palate, waaay too 'mustardy,' but I should have expected that considering the dish actually was mustard, although its preparation rendered it to reflect the style of fluffy piping hot scrambled eggs. I did manage to finish it though, however laboriously. :p

Meatloaf is one of the dishes I can actually make, but I don't make it often because I can't stop eating it. I love it too much. It's always juicy and tender when I make it.

(not my pic)
can't overmix meatballs or meatloaf, or you lose tender altogether.

how are you, zt? :)

the only thing i'm prepared to go through the tedious labor of shredding carrots for is throwing them in a spice cake so i can call it carrot cake.

sounds like your mom wanted to sneak some extra nutrition into the loaf?

Aww why can't we have cool threads like this in the BDF. Mc Donalds caught my eye and I was nosy enough to come and read it. Singles have all the fun on CC.
Weeeeeell...

Ah there it is. This is exactly what we would get a lot of if we posted threads like this in BDF.

What about nutloaf for the vegetarians?

I've had haggis and chicken feet and tripe so, but its recongisable food.

To me, meatloaf kind of looks like dogfood. Theres those cans of jellimeat for cats labelled not intended for human consumption, though I am sure if you were desperate you would eat dogfood, that honestly looks like a dogs vomit baked in a tin.

Meatballs, sausages and other meats ground up to look like other body parts are....interesting.

Chocolate is just ground up cocoa beans. So chocolateloaf?

Now jelly babies are interesting...why would you eat babies? Are the confectionary makers trying to make us into cannibals?

My mom would shred carrots into her spaghetti sauce for texture. It was a nice touch for sure.

Not sure if you misread or are just rewriting it for a joke, but as said in the original post, they were spiced pear slices.

As in, yes, the pears were sliced and put on the burger, but they also been spiced -- I have no idea what the process was as the menu didn't say, but they tasted like they'd been marinated in some sort of spice rub.
I misread your post. Funny how posts are funnier when you read them wrong. That's hard to say three times fast, "spiced pear slices."

Guess what I had for lunch yesterday...

The local grocery store has a hot lunch every day. They do NOT have any online presence at all, or even a posted menu for tomorrow, so you never know what they'll have until the day comes.

Their meatloaf is pretty good, and many people ask them when they will next be serving it. No idea, no way to know. Grrrrr! But yesterday when I walked in I smelled it cooking.

I picked up a pound and a half. I promptly ate a pound and a half. Good lunch.

sausage rolls
luncheon
jellimeat

are these just various versions of meatloaf, but not in loaf form? Why not pour the mixture into a round tin, and call it meatcake?

How come nobody has actually posted the recipe for meatloaf on here, so I can at least know what goes in it or how to make it. I want to try because I think my cat would like it.

The recipes for meatloaf are like the versions of the Baptist church - all kinds of ingredients go in and all kinds of flavors result.

Any recipe posted will be wrong, because it will not be anything close to anybody else's recipe.

To me, being raised a Baptist, this is not entirely untrue. The endgame flavor isn’t necessarily Baptist.

I love meatloaf sandwiches with mayo, tomato, and cuke slices. Good stuff.

I saw in a magazine a recipe for meatloaf and it just seemed the main ingredients were beef mince and oats baked in a tin.

I wonder if anyone has ever had fishloaf. Presumably Jesus knew how that was made when he fed the five thousand fish sandwiches...

Yeah, they already invented that. It's called gefilte fish. I have a couple jars in the pantry.

What would happen if I poured Purina One into loaf tin and served it, would anyone eat it?

How do you know, when you eat meatloaf, that it isnt just cooked catfood?

I remember a Good Times episode about a neighbor lady that people whispered she ate dog food, so they wouldn't touch her meatloaf.
