why would the sun effect the spin of a pendulum and of clouds, which are water, but not water, which is water?
Shhh… your logic is messing with his worldview. ;)

wait till i point out that in a stationary flat earth model the sun is rotating clockwise, so if it's causing the difference in rotation direction of cyclones, they should rotate clockwise in the north and counterclockwise in the south

The gravitational "pull" of the moon would suck the atmosphere out into space.
why haven't you shown me the math?

because your claim is utterly false, maybe?

Show the math.

And -- if you study this "opinion" of modern science carefully enough - utilizing the actual 'physics' that is behind the claim -- I believe that you will discover that the gravitational "pull" of the moon ( or the Earth or anything else ) will be much greater on water vapor than it will be on many Gazillions of gallons of water.
please define "gazillions" and kindly show your math.

for example, how about the pull of the earth that is 238,900 times closer and 76 times more massive?

be sure and account for that when you show me the math for what you claim to have "studied carefully"

9th grade physics education, anyone.. ?
the phrase surface tension ((craftily completely absent from the OP)) ring a bell?

Why does the "pull" of the moon affect the huge amounts of water so massively while having no effect whatsoever on the smaller amounts of water?

No effect at all? really?
show me your data.

or are you basically just making things up?

oh wow, you're right. I was thinking what he said was crafty until you said this. But don't distract him. The spin video is only 5 min. I believe Moses is forthright. I'm looking forward to his honest reasonable response.

if God the Creator of all things can control the motion of the stars and planets as He wishes, what in the world makes you assume that He would accidentally kill everyone in the process?
You defend man's reasoning (modern "science") which makes great claims leaving God out of the picture, but when the questions become too difficult to answer, then you invoke God's supernatuarl power. I never assumed anything. I simply put forth the question of how (not leaving physics and the natural processes) the shadow going back 10 degrees wouldn't kill everyone as man's reasoning says would happen if such were the case.

OK i think i understand how you're visualizing this. you're imagining the earth doesn't move.
No. I'm not imagining the earth is still. I'm asking for an explaination for what I'm seeing if the earth is spinning, etc.

the motion of the moon through the sky is not along an axis perpendicular to the earth's rotation. it's parallel to it. it moves along the ecliptic.
And that's the point and the whole problem. Notice the two examples below:

MoonEvening.jpg MoonMorning.jpg

Because the axis is bascially parallel, it rotates as seen with the first image (in the direction of the yellow ellipse). On the other hand, each morning we see it rotated as seen in the second image (in the direction of the red circle). So how does it rotate BOTH directions at the same time AND we ONLY see the 'ONE FACE' that we see always?

I don't understand why so-called "Christian" physicists, geologists, and mathematicians, etc. always demand everyone else to do / show the math, but are not willing to do it themselves. If that is your specialty, then prove yourself and quit pretending you're so smart by insulting the intelligence of others just to make yourselves feel superior. Putting others down DOESN'T raise you up! IF YOU CANNOT ANSWER THE SIMPLE QUESTIONS, then don't try to make someone else feel stupid because they cannot answer the more complicated ones.

And if after reading this you are so inclined to prove yourself, then please answer the question I have asked repeatedly on the thread entitled "Scripture Based Flat Earth Proposition" (and if you're going to side step it, don't bother at all). It is a very simple question for someone who really believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God. So how far did the water fall to the earth? Or, if you'd rather a different vantage point, then when "the stars shall fall from heaven" (according to Matthew 24:29), then how shall they (being so much larger than the earth) fall to the earth (according to Revelation 6:13) and not utterly destroy the earth. If the threat of a meteor striking the earth is so serious, then how shall the earth survive this? I realize there would be some burn-off after traveling 25 trillion plus miles through space (unless it's all a vacuum of course), but they would still be huge. And all it would really take is ONE star to accomplish this, but there are MANY stars. So what do you say? Do you believe God's Holy Inspired Inerrant Word or do you believe in the reasoning of man?

The person who makes the claim is responsible to support it. Gary made several claims without support. It is quite legitimate to dismiss an unsupported claim. Dismissing a claim is not ‘putting down’ the person who made it.

You appear to have oversimplified the movement of the moon. If you hang on to the idea that the moon rotates on a particular axis, rotation not on that axis will seem impossible. If, however, the moon actually rotates on a different axis than what you believe, such movement is possible. Consider all motion before deciding on the axis.

It appears to me that you are the one leaving God out of the picture, assuming such an event would kill everyone. Perhaps your god is too small. ;)

because we live under a curved sky.

Exactly what 'claim' did I make that I cannot support? I simply pointed out that BE teaching is inconsistent with Bible teaching. If you can explain how they are in agreement, please explain, if you can.
