Every part of scripture is God breathed. It is equally authoritative. So singling out Jesus as the speaker is irrelevant.
Since you make a point to single out His words, you are implying either your argument is more authoritative because you are referring to Jesus' words or your understanding is superior because you are the one invoking them.
But I'm really interested in the question I asked: why do you focus so singularly on the law when Matthew 6:33 makes it clear that we are to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?
No one is saying all of God's Word is not God-breathed, buy why would the plain teachings of Jesus offend anyone. I'm still trying to understand what you're saying here. Like His plain teachings are wrong? Without Jesus we are all lost so why would we not trust His teachings. How do we believe in Jesus but not His teachings.

God's law is righteous Psalms 119:172 and our obedience to God leads to righteousness while sinning down the wrong path Romans 6:16 Isa 48:18 To many people depend on their righteousness for how to live instead of God's so I do focus on His righteousness as we can't sanctify ourselves, only God can Eze 20:12 but people try anyway.

Anyway nice chatting with you and wish you well in seeking Truth to God's Word.

So what does seeking His kingdom and His righteousness entail?

What did Jesus teach? I know you don't like His teachings, but He is the way and the door,.

Mat 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

Repent from what? Jesus came to save us from sin Mat 1:21 not in our sins.

All the law does is show us our sins Romans 7:7 Romans 3:20 1 John 3:4 and our need for Jesus and His righteousness to cover us, but it requires us to confess , repent which means a change of heart and a change in direction and go to Jesus for cleanings and sanctification when we confess 1 John 1:9 which His blood can cleanse us of all unrighteousness and once in Christ we are in harmony with His law if we are hostile to God's law it shows a lack of faith and those without faith cannot please God. Romans 8:1-8 Hebrews 11:6

It's all I have time for now.

God bless.

I love Jesus and every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. For someone who claims adherence to the commandments, wouldn't that be considered bearing false witness?
What I'm asking you is...what would someone be doing if they are genuinely and actually seeking God's kingdom and His righteousness?

Sorry, if I misunderstood, you said this "So singling out Jesus as the speaker is irrelevant." so not sure why one would question His teaching when He tells us we are to live by His every Word. Jesus is the Creator of all things, He is the one speaking at Sinai and did not come to destroy or end His own laws Mat 5:17-30 or change His righteousness Psa 119:172 or His Truth Psa 119:151

What someone would be doing is everything Jesus tells us to do, which He led by example. He is the door and the way and the only way we are saved.

exactly the same one Romans 7:6 says we are definitely not under at all in any way whatsoever.
Here's your answer...

Hebrews 7:12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

In the New Testament... there is a new priesthood where Jesus is our High Priest instead of Moses and as such we are no longer under the law of Moses, but now we are under the Law of Christ.

In the New Testament, many mentions of “the law” is actually referring to Law of Christ (aka the Law of Liberty) and is not talking about the old testament law. Christians are NOT called to keep or live under the old testament law, but we ARE called to live under the Law of Christ.

Ultimately this means we are called to abide In Christ which is living after the Spirit and not after the flesh, or to be spiritually minded and not carnally minded (see Romans 8). As we see in Romans 8, to be spiritually minded is life and peace but to be carnally minded is death which is separation from the Lord.

Understanding what Israel means in scripture would be an important study as it is just a name God gave His people, it is both literal and metaphorically. There is no more Jew or Gentile in God's covenant we are grafted in through faith Gal 3:26-28 which is why Israel is not Israel if they are not grafted in through faith Romans 9:6
so then if that is your view, why insist on law keeping?

you actually contradict yourself and yet, and yet.....you don't see it :(:cautious:

I appreciate the apology, but it's unnecessary. I'm not offended in any way.
It sounds like your answer of how to seek His kingdom and His righteousness is to learn the law, look at Jesus' practices, and copy that. A kind of what would Jesus do mentality. Did I characterize your understanding correctly?

James 2:4 refers to Leviticus 19:15 and is the central objection the entire chapter chides the letters recipients over. it is reiterated in verse 9.

James 2:8 gives the command he says they should be keeping, and refers to the authority of Christ ((Who called it alone "My commandment" in John 15:12)) by calling it "royal" - which is written in Leviticus 19:34.

James 2:11 is merely parenthetical, not the scope of his argument. he gives two of the decalogue as example that God Who gave one commandment in the Law gave the whole Law.

James 2:12 wraps up his rebuke saying not that they are judged by the decalogue but by "the law of liberty" which is an implicit reference to the new covenant as explained in Romans 7 — they are not under the law, but grace, and should therefore walk righteously.

the specific thing he rebukes them over is partiality in judgement. this is not the 10 Commandments. it is in that context he says stumbling in any part of the law makes one guilty of the whole law.

so i think you are intellectually dishonest to claim this is only about the decalogue and even more dishonest to claim the rest of the Law doesn't matter.
your understanding is really flawed, you always argue against people citing proper scripture, the 10 commandments are distinct from the rest of the LAW, why would you have to follow for example the ceremonial laws, are you a levite?NO jesus was teaching the 10 when will you understabd this?

I wonder why someone, in this case you, would state that people might be offended by Jesus' teaching?

It's actually YOUR teaching that is off. but offense is a big word

you should try not to offend by adding to what someone states...kind of like the way you add to what scripture says

Thats not what I said, when we are sorry for sinning (breaking God's law) and go to Him to repent of our sins, He covers us in His righteousness.

We obey God's law through love and faith 1 John 5:3, John 14:15, Exo 20:6 Rev 14:12 Romans 3:31 because Jesus changes us from the inside out and want to do what He asks of us through this love and faith and while we can't do it alone Jesus is with us every step of the way John 14:15-18 it just requires our cooperation .

Do You mean asking for forgiveness of the sin? OR are You repenting because You keep doing the same sin over and over?

God is longsuffering and His forgiveness is greater than our sin. A righteous man may fall seventy times seventy but will always get back up. Proverbs 24:16 Jesus knows our hearts and knows if we are sincere. Its when we give into sin and stop trying to overcome through Christ does that get dangerous Hebrews 10:26-30

I agree we should cooperate. But what happens when we dont?

Scripture tells us...

Proverbs 28:13 He who covers his sins will not prosper,
But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

The Ten Commandments just show us our sin Romans 3:20 Romans 7:7 Mathew 5:19-30 and our need for Jesus so we can confess, repent and prosper by receiving His mercy , grace and sanctification .

Our salvation is from sin, not in sin. Mat 1:21

You still haven't answered my questions. What happens to those who don't confess all their sins and those who don't always cooperate?
You are making claims in general. I'm asking specific questions.
