Hi brethren,

PBS did a story on the Christian Nationalism movement here in the USA, and I would like to receive more feedback on this organization. Our speaker of the house, Mike Johnson, is apparently tied to this organization, and some Christian Nationalists are accused of being involved in the January 6, 2021 insurrection in Washington.

My initial reaction is we as Christians do not have a lot of direct success when we get too tied in with secular government, but I would like to receive other perspectives on this movement.

I just came across this video and thought about your thread topic .
I see that the terms have been manipulated by social manipulation of language. The video points this out in showing how it's used by media. Words have definitions and sometimes they change definitions and try to stick guilt by association with those who are patriotic. I think believers should become aware when and how they are being demonized by virtue signaling godless unbelievers in media.

Nationalism, Globalism, or Patriotism?

Nope. You don't have two authoritarian systems on opposite ends of the same ideological spectrum.

Fascism was an offshoot of socialism, or a modified form of it. It wasn't "opposite" communism. Remember that Hitler and Mussolini were socialists before they became known as fascists. They did not radically swing from one side to the other side ideologically.

Both systems are police states. Both systems run the economy from the top down. Both systems do not allow dissent from the god-state's narrative. Both are collectivist systems. The individual does not matter (unless they mouth off at the State lol). Please show one significant difference between communism and fascism.

The ideological spectrum is just that: a line from right to left, becoming increasingly authoritarian or anarchistic, depending on which direction you're going.
This is true. The Nazis were the National Socialist German Workers Party or Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. The US leftists did not want to be associated with them. Just like they do today, they project the guilt by association to their political opponents and redefine terms as well as perceptions. The only thing that resembles the conservative Republicans is perhaps their uniform short haircuts contrasted with the later hippy movement.

Other than that superficial demeanor, they were into the same philosophies that the modern leftists hold dear.

Their patron saint Margaret Sanger corresponded with and was awarded accolades by Hitler. His eugenics movement was motivated by Sanger. So were liberal denominations.

I remember my poli-sci. prof. making an x-axis line on the board showing the right extreme as facist and left extreme as communist kind of like the graph below:

View attachment 260608

I can see from Britannica that there are different approaches to this model as you and Nehemiah have noted. I like this quote:

"For example, though Stalinist communists would fall to the extreme left on the traditional left/right axis and Nazis would fall to the extreme right, Eysenck’s model would classify both as extreme examples of “tough-mindedness.”"

Source: Political spectrum | Definition, Chart, Examples, & Left Versus Right | Britannica

What kind of monster would a communist fascist be called? Certainly not Godzilla; how about Goshzilla? :D
Your professor was correct.
This is correct way to view political systems on a theoretical level.
There is political theory and then there is political reality.

Communism is a economic theory first and foremost which in the mind of Karl Marx was the natural result of the end of capitalism.

I personally considered this required reading as a young.man.
Marx/ Engles wrote what their goals were long before we were born . We have the advantage of knowing a lot about the enemy. Considering it was mostly communists/ socialist powers that slaughtered perhaps a quarter billion of their own people in just the past hundred years, Biblical Christianity is strictly opposed to their goals.

Karl Marx's "10 Planks" to seize power and destroy freedom:
  1. Abolition of Property in Land and Application of all Rents of Land to Public Purpose.
  2. A Heavy Progressive or Graduated Income Tax.
  3. Abolition of All Rights of Inheritance.
  4. Confiscation of the Property of All Emigrants and Rebels.
  5. Centralization of Credit in the Hands of the State, by Means of a National Bank with State Capital and an Exclusive Monopoly.
  6. Centralization of the Means of Communication and Transport in the Hands of the State.
  7. Extension of Factories and Instruments of Production Owned by the State, the Bringing Into Cultivation of Waste Lands, and the Improvement of the Soil Generally in Accordance with a Common Plan.
  8. Equal Liability of All to Labor. Establishment of Industrial Armies, Especially for Agriculture.
  9. Combination of Agriculture with Manufacturing Industries; Gradual Abolition of the Distinction Between Town and Country by a More Equable Distribution of the Population over the Country.
  10. Free Education for All Children in Public Schools. Abolition of Children's Factory Labor in it's Present Form. Combination of Education with Industrial Production.

Good discussion here in the last two pages. I agree a lot with what's been said and since i have personal experience with communism, i can tell you that both systems, fascism and communism, suffer the same fate: they are hijacked by a dictator.
So, as @HeIsHere said, there is a difference between theory and practice.
In theory and on paper, communism is utopia. But in practice it turns into hell on Earth.

I disagree with this graphic entirely. The people who designed this, in my opinion, do this to demonize the Right.

Communism is when your private property is stolen from you and given to someone else. It robs you of the incentive to work hard, innovate, etc. Communism, I do not believe, would be practiced even in an unfallen world. What the disciples did was not communism. All of their sharing was voluntary.

Great observation, Eli! I've seen this from history, too. Both communism and fascism are ripe fields for autocrats to exploit their country and others if allowed.

That's probably why they shortened the fourteen syllables down to 2.
What people generally miss is that the word "Socialist" is found in the abbreviation "NAZI". And it was also found in the abbreviation "USSR". And the American Communists today also call themselves "Socialists" to hide the fact that they are actually hard-core Marxists. There is no difference between any of these evildoers. It is all about using the power of the State to control and oppress the general population, and destroy the country.

10 Signs You're A Dangerous Christian Nationalist
POLITICS·Feb 12, 2024

With the 2024 election year in full swing, the danger posed by Christian nationalists continues to grow exponentially each day, threatening to destroy democracy itself. Knowing whether or not you harbor dangerous, deep-seated Christian nationalist tendencies may just save the entire world.
The Babylon Bee has compiled the following list of common signs you may, in fact, be a Christian nationalist:
  1. You're a Christian: The biggest red flag of all.
  2. You have voted in an election: You think you're supposed to have a say in who leads the country, you maniac?
  3. You're married: To a person of the OPPOSITE sex, so there's no telling what horrible things you might do.
  4. You are currently in possession of an American flag: Only a truly hateful person displays such frightening imagery.
  5. You agree with the idea of building a society on principles like "do not steal," "do not lie," and "do not murder": Haven't you ever heard of the separation of CHURCH and STATE?
  6. You let someone wearing a MAGA hat walk by without punching them in the face: Disturbing evidence that you agree with Nazis.
  7. You pay for merchandise at Target instead of just running out the door: It's probably because you think you're better than everyone else. A classic symptom of Christian Nationalism.
  8. You won't let your 3rd-grader join the After School Satan Club: Refusing to let your child hang out with the Prince of Darkness is a clear sign you're a bigot.
  9. You face Mar A Lago five times per day and pray to Donald Trump: All Christian Nationalists do this.
  10. You own a Bible: Even more dangerously, it's a King James Version.
If you exhibit any of the signs listed above, you are officially a Christian nationalist and an existential threat to the United States. It's a good thing you're already on an FB👁️ watch list.

Extremists are tearing down everything and the moderate conservatives have to rebuild it.
To Hades (figuratively) with moderate conservatives. That's another name for RINO. Or, conservatives who are not taking seriously the cultural war we find ourselves in. We need warriors, not the Bushes or the Romney's or the Cheneys.
