cool guess you can make a pepper jack grilled cheese I might try it somedayI like my grilled cheese topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled open faced, covered with a slice of tomato on one side and a slice of onion on the other side, then folded together into a sandwich. Just about any thick soup will do.
Leave the tuna for the cats.
I have had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches many times. Same for tuna fish sandwiches too. Good comfort food for sure.hey, friends, i'm soliciting your thoughts on this sandwich. do you like it, and how do you like it?
what kind of bread, and what kind of cheese? do you add other things, like a tomato slice, or ham, or bacon? hot peppers or other veggies?
when i was a kid, mom always gave us grilled cheese and tomato soup. we dropped popcorn in the soup, just a few kernels at a time so it didn't get soggy.
in my husband's family they ate tomato soup with a tuna salad sandwich. apparently, they're barbarians.
please share your experiences.
Some people down here in the South put diced tomatoes in their tuna sandwich. Does that count as barbarism? Does it have to cross a certain tomato percentage before they can be considered barbarians? Or does the tomato have to be liquid soup? Can it be solid tomatoes and still not be barbaric?
For a grilled cheese sandwich, thickly sliced sour dough bread is best, and I would never use pre-sliced cheddar or
whatever that orange sliced cheese is. Real cheddar or Havarti alone, or a mixture of cheddar and Havarti, or gouda,
enough that it oozes from the sides of the well-grilled bread. The only other thing added would be ketchup.
Yes, my dear mother served grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup. Never tuna and tomato soup .
My mother's tuna specialty was a stove-top concoction made with rice and peas. Or maybe a casserole...
To make this breakfasty I have tried adding an egg patty- but it sort of messed with the yumminess of this, so I changed it up a little.
For breakfast grilled sandwiches I will do the same thing with buttering both sides, grilling one side.
Place choice(s) of cheese on each grilled side.
I make a scrambled egg patty (by cracking 1-2 eggs in a bowl and whisking together with a little milk and seasonings).
Pour into hot pan and cook, forming/folding into a patty. Set aside.
Grill both sides of ham slice.
Layer egg and ham on one slice of the cheese bread.
Top with second slice (buttered side up).
Grill sandwich until desired doneness.
Yeah, I don’t get why no one is asking for my alligator stew recipe lol.
