I havnt said God doesnt use powerful acts of grace to save men. Of coarse He does. The bible says He does. Not only to draw us and save us but to bring us all the way to glory.

What i was saying is this. It doesnt take visible miracles to do this. And those who seek them, or anything
external are in the postion to be deceived. Jesus made that clear to those who seek after a sign.
Go to India. Or for that matter go to random churches. If that floats yur boat.

The works Jesus was taking about were the foretold ones as He was always saying...so the scriptures be fulfilled. Which is said in the gospels about 40 times. He also said to some unbelievers that they were only
there for the fish and the bread. Miracles didnt cause faith. The works showed Him to be the Messiah.
Jn 14:29 And now I have told you before it come to pass , that, when it is come to pass , ye might believe .

Red put it back in context, the disciples already believed He was the Messiah.
And i have no idea what your point is anymore.

i like this. thanks DW

I think sustain miracles are the most wonderful because they are continous and can seen always at work in the world :)
Dates folks Dates If this has already happened then give me a date not hyperboly or conjecture

P.S quoting scripture is not giving a date it is just quoting scripture nothing more.
The pharisees and the saudducees could quote scripture till they were blue in the face didn't make them any holier thats for sure back up your claims with honest to goodness truth from your own heart

I speak in common so as the people reading can understand the point I am making

I quote scripture only as edification of the words I have spoken, not to impress anyone. The only person I care about impressing is God sorry if this seems callous but I am a callous individual to begin with.

Why do you think it would be recorded?
how will i know if it is authoritative?
should new revelation be added to scripture?
if God is still revealing His Plan, why did He change His ways and decide not to set in stone what He has said?

Awesome Praise God Tobby, that is so awesome that we can see such powerful miracles right under our noses and truly not understand. What is the difference between Divine and man?

I made up a riddle just to test this theory. Once upon a time in the garden of Eden, Adam was there God was walking around and God asked a frog what he should do cuz man had no companion. The frog said "ribbit" well that is exactly what God did. Praise God.

sorry i'm lost what dates are you asking for? its a new day and i'm like in a lot of thread.

who is trying to impress anyone? lol I quote scripture because God says it better then I can find the words to express the point i'm trying to get across. it is my weakness. sometimes i'm left speechless and i search the Bible to reflect what I find laid on my heart to say.

i think this thread was discussing the cessation of spiritual gifts?

I don't think they have ceased so I don't know why you have asked for dates but I do think that the prophecy of Joel has been fulfilled during the 1st Pentecost 40 days after Jesus rose again...

so most historians say Jesus was cruxified in 33 AD after the feast of passover, in the grave 3 days, with the Apostles 40 days, Ascension and then Pentecost?

you do the math. I'm not good with dates.

anyways the hurricane is coming to shore so i'm going to watch the rain. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow if we still have power. nit.

yea I will have to agree with AnandaHya: I don't quote scripture to impress anyone. And believe me when I tell quoteing scripture doesn't impress anyone makes people angry. I walked this america with a bible in my hand not part of any organized religon or denomination.

So, I can tell you for a fact the biggest oppostion i had was not from unbelievers but believers. That's why I was nicknamed Fencepost. Because I am as stubborn as a fencepost I do not heed or follow anything mankind says. God alone is my teacher His Spirit guides me. Before I believe anything anyone on this planet tells me I must first pray, check the scriptures, pray, check a different version of the scriptures, pray, and if I still don't know I simply say I have no idea have prayed and can't tell you the mind of God. I study 3 bibles: Holman Christian standard Bible (Scofield Study Bible), The King James Study Bible, and The New Interpreters's Study Bible. The KJV is the main one protestants use, The New Interpreter's Bible is the NRSV with Apocrypha which alot of Catholics choose. I prefer my Scofield because I like C.I. Scofield's bible study system.

Because something it written, that makes it authoritative to you?

should new revelation be added to scripture?
No.

God is not still revealing His plan. You don't know what the manifestation of prophesy is.

1 Cor 14:3) But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

IT IS ABOUT BELIEVING!!!!!!! Understanding what it takes for some people to believe. This is the work of the Holy Spirit which is to bring men's heart to a place where they can believe upon the Son and the righteousness of God. This is where you are a little stiffnecked about things. Would not it also be a miracle when Jesus, the Creator, healed the man with the withered hand (Mk 12:10-13)? Would you consider the six days of creation something of a miracle from our Majesty on high (Heb 1:3)? I do, and we are to remember our Creator from the days of our youth (Eccl 12:1). Do not also the heavens declare the glory of God (Ps 19:1) and His righteousness (Ps 97:6)?

One of the greatest things that we can teach children is about the Creator and all that He has created through His word ...

Ps 19:1-6 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork . 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard . 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

This is why it is so important to have a Sunday School for children, so that we can impart the knowledge of the Creator, that created the heavens and the earth. This is what got Billy Graham in trouble with many stiffnecked preachers concerning peoples of the nations believing in the righteousness of the Creator. These stiffnecked preachers believe in Christ but do not understand the righteousness of the Creator. Mr Graham believes this Psalm and understands what this Psalm is speaking and testifying, yet he is accused of preaching salvation without Christ. Those that accuse him of such are stiffnecked and partially blind and do not understand the nature of God's justice and mercy that come from His throne.

Eph 3:8,9 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given , that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Col 1:16 For by him were all things created , that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

so is that how you divide it?

prophets give new revelations (as in adding to scripture)?

Prophecy is God's word used to comfort, exhort or edify?

you know to the person that the prophecy is given it is new to them even if it has already been revealed to the world through the Bible. Just reading it does not mean it is true in a person's heart and that is why I think prophecy is still needed. not to add to God's words but to bridge the gap between people's understand and lack of maturity until they can understand the guidance of the Holy Spirit themselves and know in their heart the will of God for them and walk in His light and the law of the Spirit.

mmm..interesting...

Agreed. Apostles too......even if they're not martyred for the sake of Christ......like all the real ones were, except for one. What's it matter at this point ? They don't want to hear it.......they don't want to hear it *shrugs*
