If a person commits suicide are they automatically condemned to hell?
I have been asking this since I was a child at my Lutheran school.

The general consensus there was that yes, suicide automatically meant going to hell, but no one yet has given me a completely straight answer to this day.

And... it's interesting to see how the landscape changes, or at least slightly buckles, when it hits close to home. Two elderly men in our congregation committed suicide when I was in high school.

All our pastors would say is that "they hoped they both had a chance to repent right before they died."

Do Seventh Day Adventists believe In an eternal hell or do they believe that you will simply be destroyed after being condemned?

It is possible for someone who commits suicide to go to heaven. Even if one considers suicide murder, there are plenty of well-known murderers in heaven. It's not a question of sin or repentance, but whether or not their sins are forgiven.

The reason I think most people believe most who have committed suicide are not in heaven is because when someone commits suicide they have no hope. And hope is one of the stalwarts of a relationship with Christ. Another reason is that even biblical figures who were severely depressed didn't take their own lives, but asked God to do so. A couple notable examples are Elijah and Jonah. Even Job, though encouraged by his wife, would not curse God and die.

It's a question that hits very close to home because, without going into details, I had a brush with suicide many years ago -- enough to land me in the hospital.

The medical staff told my parents that my condition was "borderline." But here I am today.

I consider myself a lifelong Christian -- but many have told me I'm not a real Christian because of that event. Some co-workers and friends refused to speak to me again.

I have often asked pastors and other Christians if I wouldn't have made it, where would I have gone? No one can answer me with a straight "here" or "there."

I have asked God many times where I would have gone, but it seems to be one of those many, many things that I won't know the answer to until I see Him in heaven -- if it's an answer He would ever give, because I realize in heaven, it would not matter.

Which brings up another point...God protects His own. Once He sets His affections upon someone, no one will take them from His hand. You were never in any danger.

I wish I had my fun, light-hearted thread back...
Sorry Lynx, I don't think I can get your thread totally back on track but...

Regarding my own ordeal, maybe God was telling me (as @Cameron143 taught me this in another thread):

Because He gradually got me through -- and I'm just as troublesome, if not more, than ever.

It is written that God wll in no manner turn away a broken heart.. I believe this may be applied in a most helpful manner also to understand the question.

Are opinions like onions without pi?
I dunno, but an onion pi is MUCH better than almost every opinion I've ever heard.

That's just my opinion though... Some people don't like onion pi so much.

This is just an onion pi, but I think you're right. However, the second onion pi needs to be glossed over so that more will accept it.

Is this a cry for help?
#Seriuosly
I hope you're not considering for any reason, and especially not for a political statement
