I have a dear friend that I have know for many years and is suffering from schizophrenia and is delusional. She thinks a previous neighbor is stealing things from her or breaking her things or moving them about. She knows she has a problem and wants it to stop. But she does not want to see a doctor. I pray for her every day and I've told her that. She is now estranged from her family and does not want anything to do with them. She also has possessions in different storage units in different parts of the country. She is such a kind ,caring wonderful woman. Recently her mother passed away and so did 2 dogs. Can you please pray for her. Her name is Megan. I asked her to marry me too. But she is not sure about that. Pray for me too as I try to help her help herself.

Just a word to the wise, having had family and known others that suffered from Schizophrenia. As long as a schizophrenic is unmedicated, delusional can rapidly degrade into paranoia which can be a danger to both the individual and those around them. That in mind, I would highly recommend that you rethink marriage.

I'll be praying just the same.

I was touched by your post. I will certainly say a prayer for Megan.

I can understand your asking to marry her so you would be better able to take care of her. I went through something similar many years ago.

I met a woman who was not in the best of health with many various medical issues. Somehow she got through to me and touched my heart. I remember an early morning as I left my car and started heading into the facility where I worked. It was like God was talking to me. He asked if I was willing to take care of her as long as either I or her lived. He told me to count the costs as this would be the most difficult journey that I have ever taken. He also told me that once I decided either way that there was no going back. Thought about it and said that I was indeed willing to become her husband. This whole episode probably only lasted a few seconds but seemed like at least an hour had gone by.

We were married for over 11 years until the day that I asked the doctors to take her off the respirator so that she could die with dignity. She was my second wife after having been divorced from my horrible first wife for 18 years.

It was the hardest time of my life but also the most satisfying, taking care of her. I hope that God is with you on your journey as well. Many such journeys are possible for those willing to count the cost. Looking back I know that it was well worth the cost of admission.

Glad to have you onboard with us. Welcome to CC.

Howdy Mr Forrest and welcome to the forum.

My Aunt Diane was once married to a schizophrenic. That was interesting. It went continually downhill for a long time. It finally ended when one night she woke up to find him standing over her with a knife.

I know other schizophrenics and they always get continually worse. They never get better.

If you go through with this, I hope you are physically strong and have a lot of energy and patience. And be aware that you will need more patience later than you will now. It will only get worse as time goes by. Make your decisions now based on worst case scenario, not by the problems you can see right now.
