Hey Everyone,

In the continuation of the "Very Controversial Topics" thread series...

A while back, toilet paper was mentioned in another thread, and one member said it could become an entire thread topic by itself. After seeing not just toilet paper mentioned in the "Embarrassing Amount Of" thread -- but "high quality" toilet paper -- it's time to put this theory to the test.

Is an entire thread about toilet paper going to hold water? Let's find out! :geek:

Just for fun, I'm going to write a poll which will be multiple choice -- and we'll be able to see what everyone says. The poll only allows for about 10 answers, so please add any additional thoughts/comments/um, experiences? here in the thread!

And maybe this thread will finally be able to answer the age-old question:

Over -- or Under?!?

Let the Great Toilet Paper Debate begin!

P.S. We don't want anything too "graphic" in this thread... No gruesome bathroom descriptions, please. o_O

Let's just have some (hopefully) funny banter about something almost everyone (hopefully) uses every day!

And be prepared to justify your choices! :D

Some may wonder why I checked both the preferences for "extra strong" and "extra soft" -- truthfully, I'll generally buy whatever is cheapest (as long as it's 2-ply!), and if it has a few extra "bonuses" like strength or softness thrown in, sure, why not?! :geek:

This is a crappy conversation.

This topic is totally in the toilet.

Get your mind out of the sewer!

I prefer regular old Scott tissue. It's strong enough and lasts long enough. Some people think it's a bit scratchy. I think their toilet paper falls apart.

Speaking of toilet paper falling apart...

Don't you just hate it when you're wiping and your finger pokes through? I'm never volunteering to help at the nursing home ever again.

I'm partial to the ribbed scott TP.

A good substitute left off the list is leaves. For two years in South America I had neither toilets nor TP. One learns to appreciate particular plants that had leaves that were good for a TP substitute. Do refrain from grabbing poison ivy leaves when you find yourself in need of a substitute.

For after a meal that includes habanero, it might be wise to have at least one roll of extra high quality soft TP available, just for those occasions mind you, I'm not suggesting you live the lifestyle of the bourgeoisie.

I give you nothing but kudos for volunteering, Lynx, but...

Maybe we should try to keep the potty talk toned down a bit (I mean, it's a thread about toilet paper, for Pete's sake!):LOL: Just kidding.

And no, I'm using the potty emoji bc I've never been particularly fond of it.

I'd like to think I've contributed my share by changing diapers (and I don't have kids, so it was always other people's kids,) but as all the families I know around me are getting older, I'm sure the nursing home diapers are straight ahead.

Now we're talking!

My parents are partial to Charmin (with what I think it the extra quilting?) And I've had the privilege of using that Scott's ribbed stuff a couple of times. (I've also made the mistake of buying Scott's 1-ply, which to me, is like using the thin, see-through tissue paper used to wrap fragile things.) Yes, my butt is fragile, but it needs something with a little more heft! Except that I'm too cheap to shell out for the "really good stuff."

Makes me think of Adam Sandler's The Water Boy, except that instead of talking about "High Quality H2O," we're talking about "High Quality TPO." (Two-Ply Only -- for me, at least!)

Needless to say, whenever I go to my folk's, my heinie knows it's going to be getting the royal treatment.

Lol!!

For a minute, I thought Tall Timbers was telling us to start living the high life! :D (At least, where toilet paper is concerned.)

And this is what I really enjoy about these threads -- the many different perspectives. Since I'm about the furthest thing from Grizzly Adams as one can get, I appreciate the mentioning of leaves (minus the poison ivy) as a TP substitute. I'll remember that, the next time I'm thinking about camping out in the wilderness.

Which will be never , but I love hearing about what other people have experienced.

As for the habaneros...

I think I'll leave those for the ones willing to pay big dollars for the bougie paper.

I went with, " I can use any old generic brand". As far as defending it, ummm, a lot of travel in ministry. lol Churches don't usually invest in expensive TP. Normally it's the type they use in schools. You need to use several yards of it if you want it to work. And motorhomes only use one ply, if you've ever traveled in one you understand why. Yeah, have some funny stories on that subject. But that's my stand on the TP debate. Oh, hubby is different, at least 2 ply. He never traveled like I have. rofl He's spoiled.
