I doubt I'll be able to keep up as you're moving at such a pace (50 chapters a day, right?!), but I have learned a few things reading your notes and the comments so far. Thanks!

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 2 NOTES
v11 The Emims and Anakims were giants

v20 Zamzummins were also giants

v21 God destroyed the Zamzummins before the Anakins

v34 Women and children were killed as God had instructed
Growing up, I used to wonder why God commanded the killing of women, children and even animals on some occasions. I now believe these people might have been genetically contaminated somehow, possibly by interbreeding with fallen angels (as in Genesis 6). The talk about giants reinforces my belief that it had occurred there in the past.

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 7 NOTES

v26 “Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.” - I was thinking what happens if you stay at a friend’s/family member's house, hotel, Airbnb, etc. and there are images there such as a buddha statue - you can’t remove it because it is not your property, detesting it knowing it is wrong would suffice I would think since it is not your home that you own, it is a place being visited
I didn't remember this verse, as I don't often read through all of Deuteronomy. I was reading recently about "cursed" objects, and that some in the world are actively pursuing these. Mankind really is in a terrible state. I don't know what I'd do if I came across an idol in my room in an Airbnb or somewhere similar - it'd be nice to go Gideon on it, but not sure how well that would reflect on Christ. Probably would either cover a painting with something (or place it on the floor facing the ground or the wall), or turn an idol to face somewhere improminent or "shameful" (e.g. a corner of the room on the floor, the bottom shelf in the toilet and/or facedown on the floor). When I left, I might even leave it covered with a sheet in its place of improminence, to signify my displeasure at its presence.

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 9 NOTES

v21 Moses states he took the sin of TCOI (reminds me of what Jesus Christ did for us)
Amen! Moses in many ways was a foreshadow of Christ who was to come.

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 10 NOTES
v15 “Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.”
I think this should be Deuteronomy 10 verse 16. I only know 'cause this is a memory verse (not because I'm cross-checking everything you write! :p ) Too often, our hearts are hard and calloused instead of soft and sensitive toward God. Sometimes, I even question if hearts need to be circumcised more than once!

The Ethiopian speculation came up due to Moses having an Ethiopian wife. Since we aren't really told much about it, assumptions are made. One assumption (but not the only assumption) is that Jethro, Zipporah’s father, was actually from Ethiopia but had moved to Midian, making Zipporah an Ethiopian by birth but one who had lived in Midian.

Another assumption is that Zipporah died, and this was a second wife Moses took after Zipporah’s death. This is the one I've usually leaned toward over the years.
There isn't much written about Zipporah, but I think she's one of my favourite bible women. Probably all these sorts of questions adds to the intrigue! :p

v3-4 The exceptions to v2

Took away that you should not be wicked and devise a plan not to help the poor

v11 God says there will always be poor in the land and we should always help them with generosity

v13-14 When servants depart from you, you should part with them giving them generous gifts

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 16 NOTES

v1 God says to keep the Passover in the month of Abib

v2 God chose where TCOI made the sacrifice of the Passover

v3-8 Instructions of the Passover

v9-12 Review of feast of weeks v10. Feast of weeks was a freewill offering

v13-17 Review of the feast of the tabernacles

v18 God commanded for there to be judges and officers for every tribe. They must judge in righteousness

v19 Should not take bribes. Bribes will corrupt righteous judgement.
Wrest meaning is forcibly pull (something) from a person's grasp

v21 Should not plant a grove of trees near the alter of God

v22 “Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the Lord thy God hateth.” - It states “any” image. I wouldn’t want to have an image of anything after this verse. God hates images

I think it's 15....and I can hardly keep up myself lol.

Oh, we do think alike! This is a fascinating topic. I learned this very ^ thing you typed from Rob Skiba. I can't see God killing off all those people otherwise.

Your mention of idols reminds me of of an incident with my father when I was a child. A guy he knew had given me a Buddha necklace pendant and dad didn't know it. Later, dad seen me playing with it at home and he asked me where I got it from. I told him that Scott gave it to me. Dad told me to come outside with him. We stood in the yard together and dad told me, "Girl, I want you to take that and throw it as far as you can." So, I did. As I got older, that action stuck in my mind. I know dad meant that to be a symbolic action. I never forgot that. He was teaching me, get idols as far away from you as you can.

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 17 NOTES

v1 “Thous shalt not sacrifice unto the Lord thy God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evilfavouredness: for that is an abomination unto the Lord thy God.” - wasn’t clear before if you couldn’t use blemished animals for certain sacrifices. After reading this it appears you should never use a blemished animal for a sacrifice

v5 It is repeated that those who serve other gods will die

v6 There has to be 2 or more witnesses for someone to be put to death concerning v5

v8-9 If a matter is too challenging to determine amongst brethren, then they should come to priests to make judgement

v11-12 Must follow the sentencing of the priests or you will die

v15 The king of TCOI must be from Israel. God will choose the king

v16 TCOI should not return to Egypt

v17 “Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.” - First mention of not having multiple wives. The king of TCOI must be righteous in all aspects

v18 Copy of the law was written in a book

v19
The king should read the copy of the law in a book all the days of his life. This must be done to keep his fear of God and remember of the laws of God. A reminder why it is important to read the bible daily

v20
Reading the Bible daily keeps you humble and prolong your days

DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 18 NOTES

v1-8 Review of priests and Levites

v10-12 Sacrificing children (burning by fire), divination, observer of tie, enchanter, witches, charmer, consulter with familiar spirits, wizard, and necromancer are an abomination unto God. Divination meaning is the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. Observer of time is thought to be a soothsayer; Soothsayer meaning is a person supposed to be able to foresee the future. Enchanter meaning is a person who uses magic or sorcery, especially to put someone or something under a spell. “Consulter of familiar spirits” refers to the practices where individuals seek knowledge or power by engaging with spirits or demons. Witch refers to woman. Wizard refers to man. Necromancer is someone who practices necromancy which is the supposed practice of communicating with the dead, especially in order to predict the future; sorcery or black magic in general

v13 “Thou shall be perfect with the Lord thy God.” - Love God and follow His commandments

v15/18 God will raise a prophet that will speak what He commands

v20 “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.” - I wonder if this is saying there are prophets that are chosen by God that do turn corrupt

v21 “And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?” - Great question!

v22 “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” - This answers v21

v1-13 God’s command for the three cities of refuge

v11 It is repeated if you hold malice and lie in wait to kill someone you will die - premeditated murder

v14 “Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it.”

v15 The Bible repeats the importance of having more than one witness for someone’s sin to be established

v19 Those who are found guilty of baring false witness, whatever he had in mind to do to his brethren shall be done unto him

v21 Eye for eye

Lol! Feels like 50! But it keeps one on one's toes. :p

Oh, we do think alike! This is a fascinating topic. I learned this very ^ thing you typed from Rob Skiba. I can't see God killing off all those people otherwise.
I 100% agree with you. It is amazing how different our view becomes when we see things in perspective with the Incarnation. I grew up reading the bible and thinking God was very severe, but seeing the tenderness and love of Jesus in the New Testament and understanding that this is the same God, it changed my thinking totally. God is very holy, but also filled with loving-kindness for us. I still don't understand why some things are permitted, but He loves us and knows what He is doing.

Your mention of idols reminds me of of an incident with my father when I was a child. A guy he knew had given me a Buddha necklace pendant and dad didn't know it. Wow. Your Dad sounds like a very wise and loving man. I am sure that he is well pleased with the legacy he has left in you.

Very wisely put! I love the way you think <3
Thanks! :) But I dunno... Lol. I'm reminded of those potatoes, or other vegetable, and they've got those black bits or impurities or whatever, and you (or at least, I) keep peeling away, thinking "I'm just going to keep going until I get this last bit gone", and then, by the time the defects are all gone, there's like hardly any potato left! :p
