Hey Everyone,
Since we already have a thread going about cheese, I figured we might as well throw a few nuts into the mix.
When I was a kid, my grandparents had a routine where we'd play cards and my Grandma would give us what she called "Crud Dishes." My Grandma was a hoot! She'd be like, "All right you kids, come and get your crud!" My Grandma and my Mom were both rather healthy about food, but this was my Grandma's acknowledgement that it's ok to splurge on pure garbage every now and then.
Our treasured "Crud Dishes" would usually be a mix of something like Cheetos, Pringles (all things my mom rarely bought that we hardly ever got at home) -- and mixed nuts.
Taking a cue from my Grandpa, my favorite have always been the cashews. I love that they have just the right amount of "chew" -- not too hard, not too mushy, but with an almost creamy consistency.
Now I know some things thrown in with "nuts" aren't even technically nuts, but let's go out on a limb here.
* What are your favorite kinds of nuts (or things that are often thrown in as nuts) and why?
* What kinds of nuts do you NOT like, and why? (I find walnuts to be bitter, but still eat a few, as they're supposed to be healthy.)
* If you or a loved one has nut allergies, how do you cope in a world that's gone nutty? Seriously, I can't imagine what it must be like for parents to send their nut-allergic kids to school. I would be a bit terrified!
* If you or a loved one can't have nuts, do you have anything you like to enjoy as a substitute? (What do you have in place of peanut butter, if anything, etc.?)
It's Saturday, Everybody!!
Let's Go Nuts!! 🤪🙃😁
