The same as the gift and seal of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Eph. 1:13)?

I have never heard of this term earnest of the spirit where do you find that?

Well what does it mean exactly is it the seeking of the spirit or is it something that means something else?

That is what I’m wanting to know. Is it the same as the gift, seal and the promise of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:38-39 and Ephesians 1:13?

Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2Co 5:5
Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
The fastest way to understand obscure KJV phraseology is to check the verse(s) in modern translations. You can find several on BibleGateway.

In this particular case, I would not personally call it "obscure phraseology."

Earnest has to do with earnest money which is a deposit, or down payment, or pledge, and that is how most other Bible translations translate it. In other words, they are all saying the same thing.

When my wife and I bought our home, we had to submit a token amount of
the purchase with the escrow papers. It wasn't all that much. I think it was
around a $1,000 or so on a $73,000 home back in 1988.

Anyway; the token amount was called "good faith money" because it was
meant to guarantee our honest intent to purchase. Had we reneged on our
offer and backed out of the deal, escrow law at that time would've caused us
to forfeit the good faith money and we would've been out of pocket $1,000
with nothing to show for it.

The thing is: were God to renege on His promise to protect believers from
retribution by means of their trust in the purpose of His son's crucifixion, He
would have to forfeit the Spirit, i.e. God would have to let people keep the
Spirit with them no matter where they end up in the afterlife.

2 Cor 1:22

KJ21: "the pledge of the Spirit in our hearts"

CEB: "the Spirit as a down payment in our hearts"

CJB: "his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee for the future"

ESV: "his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee"

NIV: "his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come"

NABRE: "the Spirit in our hearts as a first installment"

2 Cor 5:5

KJ21: "the pledge of the Spirit"

CEB: "the Spirit as a down payment for our home"

CJB: "as a pledge he has given us his Spirit"

ESV: "the Spirit as a guarantee"

NIV: "the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come"

NABRE: "the Spirit as a first installment"

The other translations are either similar or minor variants of these.

2 different things. Notice the word "and". The sealing is spoken of in Ephesians 1:13 and is experiential and occurs frequently throughout the book of Acts. The earnest is spoken of in Romans 8:16. While it is experiential, it is an inward experience of the indwelling Spirit.
The former is an outward experience; the latter an inward witness.

I am not saying that I agree or disagree with you. I am just curious as to why you quoted me. I am not the one who asked the question here. That was the OP. I merely provided these verses because two other posters here were not familiar with them because they read differently in the Bible versions that they use.

Because you posted the verses my post was in reference to. If you prefer I don't link to your posts, just say the word. I'll stop.

God purchased us by the shed Blood of the First Comforter, Yeshua.
The receipt of that transaction is redeemed through the Second Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

That’s a good question. I’ve never thought of that before.
