In Eastern and Western Christianity, the fierce power and iron fist of tradition, coupled with the taught purpose for the gathering of believers, rather than it rightfully being for mutual edification and building up of each other in the faith through teaching from mature believers collectively teaching the new babes in the faith, it has become programmatic, liturgical, structured, all fueling the fire of the god of perceived "order."
Let's dig down into the Greek of all this, shall we?

Serious question - Please describe what your praise/worship service looks likeReally? I have never been to a service in the dark, with a smoke machine, light show, stage performance and loud music. I have heard of services that include loud music, but not the other four things.
I've seen all those things here in North Florida - it seem to be a 'cookie cutter' approachCreepy, where do you go to church? You turn the lights off in a church I attend and I'm gone.

good point about letting emotions get in the way. however please remember that when the Holy Spirit flows through an individual He comes through their spirit then through the soul where emotions exist. it's difficult, especially for sort of immature Christians to control emotions - that is a learned behaviour. The mature leaser should recognize the emotion and maybe have a word with the individual - but only maybe. Not sure what ways you have in mind,
but beware of equating emotionalism or mob psychology with true worship.
If I may, what in the world is a "worship" service? That makes no sense to me. There's no such thing in Paul's epistles, nor in the words of Christ.
Also, saying, "...praise/worship..." seems to imply that they are synonymous, when in fact they are not one and the same thing.

Serious question. Please describe what the New Testament says happened in the first century gatherings of Christians. 1 Cor. 11 and 12 may be a good place to start.Serious question - Please describe what your praise/worship service looks like

I remember when sometimes we never made it to the preaching because the worship service was so powerful and God moved so we remained patient allowing God to work.I've seen all those things here in North Florida - it seem to be a 'cookie cutter' approach
as most local churches follow the same pattern.

We are very close to being on the same page here Music.
Even though there are no bible based words for 'worship service' we do need a way to describe what is going on.
The words 'worship service' are just that, words to convey the understanding of what is happeing. Actually they are of little value.
I agree 100% that praise and worship are not the same. It's a subject well worth intense study.
I took BTCP classes in the Rocky mountain Bible mission for a few years. This was the best "praise and worship" service I have ever been to.I've seen all those things here in North Florida - it seem to be a 'cookie cutter' approach
