You park ships at a port, in the menu where you refit them.

No idea about the world ship. I used a mod that put the Normandy in the game, along with a little storyline where you acquire it. Normandy as in the ship from the mass effect games.
nope. no idea how still. tried dropping all over screen... nada.

i eventually cheated in ships. it took 20 of the best ship in the game to beat.

bactrian and mule are my favorite ships. although i figured out how you could create a custom ship. linux is easier than windows for editing files.

It has been years, so I asked my phone for you.

AI Overview

In Endless Sky, docking refers to parking a ship at a planet or station. This is achieved by landing on a planet and then pressing "I" to access the Player Info menu. From there, navigate to the Ship Info tab, select the desired ship, and click the "Park" button. Parked ships are safe from destruction and crew upkeep costs are waived. Alternatively, you can park a ship by clicking on it in space and selecting the "Park Ship" button.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  1. Landing: First, you need to land on a planet or station. You can do this by pressing "L" after selecting a landing target on the map (M key).

  2. Accessing the Player Info Menu: Once landed, press the "I" key to open the Player Info menu.

  3. Navigating to Ship Info: Go to the "Ship Info" tab within the menu.

  4. Selecting the Ship: Use the "Previous" and "Next" buttons to cycle through your ships and select the one you want to park.

  5. Parking: Click the "Park" button to park the selected ship.
Important Considerations:
  • Safe Storage: Parked ships are safe from destruction and do not incur crew upkeep costs.

  • Cargo: Parked ships cannot have cargo, but you can equip them with outfits for storage.

  • Moving Parked Ships: If you unpark a ship in a different system than the one you are currently in, it will automatically start moving towards your current location, provided it has enough fuel and can navigate through available systems.

Oh... No, no, no. Nonononono. I had to google it back when I played it. And when I did, I found a LOT of people complaining about how unintuitive it is.

But for a free game... Eh. Whatever.

Argosy is strictly early game. Not enough gun ports. Not enough crew bunks to use as a board-and-capture ship.

They don't even bring a very good price when you farm them at bandit systems and sell them off. I mean... I'll take them, but only barely.

The sparrow is a trap. You think that's what you want to start out with, because this is supposed to be a game where you fly around and shoot stuff, but it is the hardest to start with. Remember that text wall when you started the game? Remember how they mentioned insurance is so much higher for Sparrow pilots? That wasn't a joke.

You may want to just start over. Start with the cargo ship. Gut the interior and install outfits to expand cargo space even further. Establish a trade route where you always know you can buy something low at one planet and sell high at the next planet. That's the best way to start if you want to gain the money with any rapidity at all.

The only faster way is to edit config files and magic yourself some money.

From a forum on steam:

Buy Clothes on Relic, in the Sirius system.
Sell Clothes on Shiver, in the Altair system.
Buy Luxury goods on Shiver.
Sell Luxury goods on Relic.
Repeat.
Buy more freighters at Luna in the Sol system when you can.

That's only one way to do it though. You could also start with the transport and capture ships that have been disabled by passing convoys.

Of course, if you enjoy Dark souls games, the sparrow might be your favorite way to start. But it's the most tedious and at least certain I can think of off hand.

My favorite way is to start with a star barge and run a trade route. Add star barges as finances permit. When you start attracting pirate attention, add a defender instead, with six heavy lasers.

Once you have two defenders, get a star queen. Then go to a bandit system, Park The defenders way off to the side, then use the star Queen to lure bandit ships over to them. This is so you can capture them after they are disabled without new bandits interrupting you.

From a Reddit post:

My sequence is as follows: Sparrow, Berserker/Hawk, Clipper/Argosy, Firebird/Osprey, Falcon/Leviathan, Shield Beetle, Palavret, Rano’erek. This sequence can be achieved in a few hours via pirate bounties, camping squirrel territory, and finally camping Misam with nerve gas.

After I capture a few small interceptors, the sparrow becomes a flagship with no weapons so I can move up to a larger interceptor. All ships from then on have no weapons and all escort have beam weapons

There are some strange builds you can do...

Did you know the game will let you take off without a generator? Like, no generator at all. Just a battery. It actually works pretty well for a shipping company, as long as you can make it to the next port before your power runs out.

Of course if you don't make it, you become a cold, dark asteroid.

One time I got a big honking ship and I didn't want to put big honking engines on it. So I put the tiniest engine available on it, because that is one thing the game DOES require before you take off, and used an afterburner for maneuvering. You're good to go as long as you don't run out of hyperspace fuel before you get to your target system.

but thats boring. i like to hang out around glaze (cus glaze has a shipyard.) alsoo trading is slow. i sold everything the game let me and bought bunks and payed off my loan carting businessmen around. then i went to glaze and made 4 million in under 30 min. selling stolen ships.

no battsis insane. also last time i used nerve gas in my bactrician with 20! anti scan plates i got two million in fines.
