Thank you for this extremely kind and encouraging word, Elizabeth!

We are so glad to have you here!! (And I haven't forgotten that you said you'd like to sign up for The Singles Forum Baking Team!)

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through such a difficult time. Knowing that these threads help people like you makes me want to keep working harder on new ideas.

How can we pray for you, dear sister?

If you don't want to give and specifics, which is completely understandable, give us some general things we can include in our prayers when we think of you. β€οΈπŸ™βœοΈ
Thank you :)
For the last several years no matter how hard I try I can't seem to move forward, like I'm constantly stuck at a dead end. And that doesn't help my battle with depression. BUT coming on CC gets my mind off of it. :)

Twilight Zone? Or, some other show?
The Saturday morning cartoon, Dungeons&Dragons.

I grew up in the era when even the government was saying that the game was Satanic, but I never played the game. I just loved the Saturday morning cartoon. I've always loved fantasy and sci fi, because it often makes me ponder my relationship with God.

The second season of the show particularly went into some pretty insightful emotional themes, and I felt God actually taught me a lot through that one episode -- though it was many years later that He brought it to my remembrance.

I was becoming very burned out. In the show, the group of kids the story centered around could only stay at the mentioned oasis for a few hours -- if they stayed overnight, they'd be turned into monsters.

I felt like God was telling me this was why I felt so burned out. I was allowing people to cling on to me, or I was clinging on to them, when what He really wanted was our time to just be a temporary oasis, and then we were to move on.

Once I worked on that, my burden was lightened a great deal.

I'm not single but I like to play too! @seoulsearch! When you brought up the friend of Kate Hudson's character observed of her, I was reminded of the time, way back, when my friend took me to a 24 hr department store and I barfed in one of its isles (long story). When an attendant approached us, I apologized profusely, "......I'm so sorry..." and he looked at me like I was a unicorn and reassured me that it was okay. And I left thinking, "Wow...that was a really nice guy."

But I've only recently come to the realization that I'm a truffle, hanging close to the root of the tree (and yes, very much a fungus). And I think yous all need to know that yous all are truffles, of one variety or the other.

Here's an interesting article that came up when trying to ascertain the categorization of a truffle.
Truffles: What Are They, and Why are They So Expensive?

We are very thankful to our married friends who hang out with us and encourage us (rather than put us down for being single.) As you know, I do try to post in Family to meet our married pals in a more married-friendly area of the forum, but we love seeing you visit our neck of the woods, too. :) You always bring such intriguing insights.

The truffle analogy is quite interesting...

I know on the surface, many of these discussions seem silly and dismissible (and I'm well aware that some of them are.) But the thing I find is that when people have fun, they feel more comfortable to share, and we all benefit when we learn from others.

For example, I'm VERY grateful to the people who are explaining why they chose somewhat "contradicting" choices in the poll -- it's because we all have high standards in some areas.

While I'm very sorry for the ridicule some have suffered because of it, I find a lot of comfort knowing that there are other Christians out there who are willing to hold fast to their morals -- even when being seen as an outcast.

We are all in this together!

I'm trying to be good here...
I really am!
But then I was reading the article where it talks about being in the fungi family and wondered why, just WHY would you call my friends here fungus?
And then as I was reading on I began to see some members traits showing up in the different types of truffles (now, I'm not naming names - as I look in Seouls direction- but the Black Truffle was talking about having some nuttiness to it ;) )

And THEN it flashed right before my eyes!
Inspiration for the next nutty thread...
What kind of truffle are you?
:LOL::LOL::LOL:

(Hey, I guess if you want to know more bout what I'm saying here you're gonna have to click and read the article :p )

Gee, Godsgirl, I'm SO GLAD you DIDN'T NAME NAMES here...:ROFL::ROFL:

But, I'm afraid my parents have you beat.

I was trying to explain a joke to my parents that I made in my small group last week -- and my Dad looked at my Mom, then looked at me -- then somberly said, "Do these people actually LAUGH at your jokes -- or are they trying to have you locked away?!"

I am definitely a fully fledged member of the "Nutties" much more than I've ever been part of the "Normies."

I just wanted to add:

I might be low-hanging, rolling down a hill, or buried underground...

BUT,

I have a WONDERFUL PERSONALITY!!

And doesn't that count for something?!:geek::cool:

(If wondering, please see the "WONDERFUL PERSONALITY" thread for reference.) :geek:
You certainly do have a WONDERFUL PERSONALITY.

I went through a time in my life where I felt like I was trying to constantly carry people. And God told me, "I want you to be like that oasis. Give people something that will act as a refreshing pick-me-up for their soul -- a smile, a laugh, a word of comfort. Be part of something that will give both you and others the strength to get through the day."
I like your oasis concept. I carried a few people too in the past. Almost broke my back. Nothing but heartache, mental anguish, and physical exhaustion. I could be an oasis too. I'm going to put that into practice. That's a wonderful idea. Biblically sound too. I like it a lot.

I am so glad this could help you, Tourist!!

You're always a very kind and compassionate person.

For me (not saying this applies to you AT ALL,) God convicted me of pride. I thought I COULD carry people, and sometimes felt like I needed their approval -- and this was His way of telling me I needed to step back give Him the bulk of the work, along with all of the credit.

Please keep us posted on how this works for you! :)

Why do I suddenly feel like my chances of GETTING AWAY WITH ANYTHING on this forum are shrinking by the day... :sneaky::whistle::cool::cry::LOL:
Does anyone else see a thread title and before seeing the author think "Oh boy! Seoul's at it again"?:LOL::ROFL:
Yup.

My cover is pretty much shot here... *Seoulsearch packs up and tries to sneak away.*

This is why I always say I could never be someone who tried to leave, come back, then try to hide under a new name -- because People Would Know the Minute I Started Posting Threads.

I have never bothered looking for romance because I like my life the way it is and I see no reason to mess with it.

Of course if I happen to meet a nice lady and we hit it off, that would be cool too. But I'm not going out of my way to try to find it.

So I guess that makes me fruit lying on the ground. Taking a nap.
naps are the best. iif you trip one that might work.
