Yes. In our Western world, money is power, and its emasculating to a husband for his wife to have more power than he. As others have noted, there are exceptions, but this is largely the rule. For example, a woman who didn't exert her power over her husband might not be viewed in this way, but the danger would be in such a relationship, the husband might be foolish and squander her wealth (human nature being what it is).
